Hey everyone

Now theres most probably a thread like this, but any way have you ever brock a model in a extreme way in the middle of a game, and also what was the emotion behind watching your loved model hitting the ground.

Ill start first, i just finished playing a game with my guard a moment ago, by the last turn i wasnt paying atention when i was pointing at something, and once i retracted my arm, my elbow hit my valkarie knocking it of the table and smashing into a billion pieces , but after some gluing she's all better now .

I knocked a model I'd spent several days modifying into a Terminator Inquisitor off my work bench and did a terrible amount of damage. I couldn't even find all the pieces again. So I used what I salvaged to make a Grey Knight Grand Master.

Oof! I know that feeling - I spilt nearly a whole pot of old-school GW Armour Wash on my cream carpet. Impossible to get out using conventional methods.

Back when I was still playing Necrons, I had just finished assebling my first monolith (which was a bitch, those big flat pieces warp easily) and I knocked it off my desk from where it dropped about 4 feet to the floor and bounced. Absolutely nothing broke, but my heart skipped a few beats...

Wasn't a direct party to the event, but I can vouch for much worse having happened at this year's 40k 'Ard Boyz Finals. An entire table collapsed to the floor, taking both 2,500 pt armies with it. GW compensated them well, feeling as though the players weren't properly warned how precariously that tabletop was balanced on two rails (one player leans forward and... ker-crash!), but it still wasn't a pretty sight or sound.

I know that one pretty well wyomingfox, DE Raiders being what DE Raiders are (stupidly large and pointily fragile so as to flummox all known carrying cases), I always end up transporting them in a box top with a bit of foam padding worked in around them.

Had them in the back seat on the drive home from the gameshop. T'was late and I hadn't done my usual placing of the heavier Ravagers on the side of the box top near the back of the seat. Nope, instead all the heavy models were at the front of the box top near the footspace.

Then I hit a sudden red light and had to come to a fairly abrupt stop. All I hear from the back seat is the horrifying sound of cardboard sliding across faux leather and then a loud plastic shattering crash.

I didn't even have the guts to look right away - I just finished driving home and then looked. Thankfully the damage was relatively minor (a few broken tail pieces which were easy enough to reglue and Vect had broken into a hundred pieces - but Vect always breaks into a hundred pieces so I was emotionally ready for that)

I don't ever want to hear that crash from my models again - it was horrible.

The last tournament I went to, a guy was fielding a small IG Air Force - and he was PROUD of his army, let's just say. The game after me, he hits his table, knocks his Vendettas to the concrete floor. Dunno how many pieces he actually ended up with.

My worst was knocking my converted Librarian off a building. It was a plastic model with a Nemisis force weapon glued on. It popped off. Took me about two minutes to fix once I got home.

Devious Space Marine dedicated to Tzeentch

I've never done too much to my own models. My worse has actually been on a couple of occasions to other people's models, unfortunately. Once I was looking at a converted Herald of Tzeentch on a chariot, and dropped it...bounced off the table, off a chair, and onto the floor. Ouch. Another time my hand clipped the wing of a Hive Tyrant that had been converted to have cool but fragile-looking butterfly wings...snapped the wing right off.

I felt terrible both times, and both times the players in question were better modellers/painters than I, so I couldn't really offer to fix it...and to top it off, they weren't even friends or anything...I didn't even know the Herald player's name at the time.

Seeing others destroying their own models, I once saw a CSM player clip the wing of his winged Daemon Prince with his hands (it had big Balrog wings on it, and he was swinging his arms in disgust at Kairos Fateweaver iirc) and the thing sailed to the ground and shattered...I think it broke into every single piece comprising the model. And the player mentioned how much of a pain they were to assemble the first time.

Saw another Daemon Prince go flying one time too. A guy had just gotten a great-looking model back from someone he had commissioned to convert and paint it, and as he was walking out of the store with it on top of a pile of boxes (didn't have any transport method for it yet) it tipped over and bounced/rolled along the parking lot.

Had it done once to me, too. A guy was looking at my newly-converted Kairos, on which I had spent a long time in the assembly process to try to make all those spindly little limbs stay together and support that model, and the result was an incredibly sturdy chunk of pewter. The guy was commenting on that fact while holding it by the base, and gave Kairos a shake to demonstrate how sturdy. Well, the weight of all that pewter popped him right off the base, and since it was on the downward part of the jerk, he got spiked right into the table. The upsides were that 1) he wasn't painted yet so no scratches, and 2) it was indeed very very sturdy, as it stayed in one piece. Only thing that happened was that his extended hand ended up getting bent straight down at the wrist, so he suddenly looked like he was giving a very effiminite greeting.

I never did find all the pieces.

My sympathies to you all! It it a horrible feeling when you break, or worse, destroy something you have spent hours lovingly putting together and painting.

I have knocked over countless foot sloggers and chipped them to buggery, but my finest/worst hour was when I dropped my FW Marauder bomber down a flight of stairs at home. I managed to salvage it as it broke quite cleanly and only in a few places but by god did I go into a rage when that happened.

I once was on a business trip for about a month. I lived in a hotel room with sporadic internet and a crappy TV. I planned for this by purchasing the Tau Raid Insertion Force (9 Crisis suits, three Stealth) with the intention of spending 6 hours a night until they were finished.

Well, of course I didn't have the proper container for them, so before I set off for home I wrapped them very carefully in a hotel towel (much like you would China) and put that int he box. It actually worked pretty well and they were intact when I got home.

I decided to leave them like that for the trip to the game store later that week, so they sat in my trunk for a few days. I do have a nice nylon container in the back that fits GW boxes brilliantly, so I didn't think much about it. However, I do drive like a bat out of hell, and discovered that the box had slipped out of the nylon (though my other GW stuff stayed put) and had been banging around in my trunk. Of course the box made no noise, even when it blew open and allowed my models to fly around my trunk freely.

Needless to say, the paint stayed remarkably nice, but it took a few days with plastic cement to get all the feet, heads and antennae back on. Luckily all the weapons were magnetized.

I don't cry or anything if I break a model during a game. I'll generally just pick up the bits and sweep them into a baggy for later repair.

If it's someone else's model - I apologise and offer to replace it or repair it (I'm quite good at many repairs - and I'm often the one who fixes the club models).

What is this guilt concept that some of you have mentioned?

Although I did snicker evilly when a guy I didn't know (but he was TFG, so I wasn't making an effort to get to know him) swept his arm and also took out his FW reaver titan (dashed to the floor). Several others also shared in the schadenfreude. TFG just swept the bits up and stormed out. We haven't seen him since.

The worst accident I had was when I dropped my old aluminum case down on the floor when I was walking home from the store, had it tumble quite a bit. In the end, the case broke, both my Malcadors were taken out of commission for several months (the FW kit lost a lot of heavy bolters, my own conversion shed its wheels), about 50-60 percent of my infantry models were broken. As a result, I've since started scratchbuilding my tanks far stronger. My Leman Russ could actually withstand being knocked off the table by a hammer.

I hopefully didn't have that many accidents, mostly tipping eldar bikes over their base onto the table. I have glad my converted necron destroyer lord was pinned very thoroughly when my stepdaughter dropped it on the floor, though. Didn't have a single scratch.

As a matter of fact, I tend to pin everything that's multipart metal kits, so that they stay together.

The worst I've done to my own:

I knocked my FW revenant 4' on to the garage floor. I only broke one of the spines off the back - lucky me.

The worst to someone elses:

My buddy had given me a loan of his FW mars pattern warhound titan for a game of apoc. I kept it upstairs. He asked for it back one day. I was carrying it back down the stairs when the entire top half (from the hips up) fell off the one pin holding it.

In slow motion, I watched it bounce down 12 steep stairs and end up in 15 ish pieces at the bottom of the stairs.

It took me 2 hours and a lot of superglue to put it back together. Luckily it came apart at the pins. Only the front of the cockpit truely broke (the chin).

I was most apologetic when I presented it back to it's rightful owner. Other than a few flakes of paint off, it was as good as new. Lucky me again.

I played an apoc game with my tau friend and he had a broadside on a 3rd floor of a ruins and I reached to move my orks and wham, his broadside fell face first on the table. Of course the broadside has paper THIN plastic legs so needless to say he broke at the ankles.

In my head I was picturing Peter from family guy make the hiss noise over and over again when he hurts his knee.

He was a good sport about it though. GW needs to fix the broadside model so that it's not so vulnerable at the legs.
