My entire army was knocked off the table at GT Finland, and destroyed.

I was playing with my pro-painted Daemons of Chaos army and it was between the second and the third game. I left my army in the middle of the table deployed into the movement trays inside a box with very high edges. I walked off for five minutes to get something to drink. When I returned and saw my army it was still inside the box but it looked like the entire army had gone through a washing machine.

Then, a referee comes to me and tells me what happened. "Apparently some kid came to the table to have a look at your army. For some reason the entire table flipped and your army fell on the floor. The kid and his dad quickly picked up all your models and threw them back into the box and placed the box on the table."

The GT referees did not hold the kid or his dad or take his name or phone number down. I had more than 30 models completely destroyed into their bitz, including my Greater Daemon which was destroyed beyond repair and I had to order a new model (from Forgeworld). Since the entire DoC army is made out of metal models the damage to the paint jobs was also immense. The entire army went back to the guy who painted it for for repairs, and I of course had to pay him for that.

The only thing the GT organizers gave me was 15 minutes extra time before the next game to compose myself and glue some models together.

I placed shared first place in the tournament after six games overall, and would think twice before ever going to a tournament held at the same venue and/or organised by the same people.

My Daemons of Chaos are now repaired and as good looking as ever, and the new Keeper of Secrets model has been posted on some forums, like here:

Wow Therion. If this thread was a competition, you just won.

Shame you couldn't get hold of the culprits - Then again, jail is a bad place I hear.

My hands don't work right sometimes. Don't know what's wrong..someone will hand me something and right when I get a grip on it, my hand opens wide and I drop the thing. One time my friend was handing over one of my Land Speeders, one of the 3rd edition boxed set ones that was really fiddly because they were miscast..It hit the concrete floor from 4 feet and completely shattered, pieces flung everywhere. I didn't lose any of the pieces, but I had to put it in traction again to repair it.

I get up in the mornings to discover half the stuff on my nightstand thrown into the floor. Books, my eyeglasses, what sucks is when a glass of water or soda got knocked over. I figured I had bad dreams until I discovered the culprit.

I woke up one night with my arm leaning over my night table, about to tip over a glass of water. I said,"Aha! I gotcha!" My hand actually had a stunned and guilty look and fought me as I tried to pull it away from the glass to a safe distance until I knew I had control over my arm.

I did this just today with my big ol`T-Fex. It was sitting on top of a box, I went to move the box to grab someone from under it, and it slid off. As it hits the ground I hear the faint clicking sound of bitz bouncing off something on the other side of the room and swear loudly. Took me a couple minutes to figure out what broke off, it was just the spikes on his tail tip. I couldn't find the ones that flew off, but they're easy to replace and get repainted up. It could have been so much worse.

A buddy of mine got in a car accident, with his 40k army in a giant fishing lure case unsecured in the back trunk-like area (SUV). The very solid box gained enough force to go through the back window of the car (which was doing barrel rolls), and hit the pavement, exploding in a spray of chaos marines and plastic shards. There are models strewn about in the street. Police helped him gather what was there back into a bucket. Thankfully, not all the compartments were 'ruptured' and some models survived, but the obliterators must have bounced with their solid weight, because they were nowhere to be found.

Hooray for New England winter driving.

...one amongst untold billions.

I would make new tea, to be safe. Though as long as it's superglue (cyanoacrylate) I doubt ingesting a small amount would be harmful. It was, after all, invented as a way to close battlefield wounds and gashes without the need for stitches and even today it is used to glue internal incisions back together.

One my brothers has a fairly big necron army (just over 3000 points if i am right). One time we had a friend of one of my other bros (the one who does not play 40k) come over. Now my brother had his army in a box (A necron battle force 1) which was on a small table that was place on a wall (which was on the pool table till my other bro moved them). Now my brother and his friend were playing pool in the same room (which did not have much space unfortunately). and my bro's friend went to shot a ball right behind the box and hit it hard as he shot. It fell almost 2 ft and hit the ground . The sound of 40 or so models hitting the ground stunned us for like 2 seconds. Luckily only a few model fell apart and they were easily put back together, lucky him.

All things considered, if you live to lament the fate of your models after trashing your car, you've had a good day...

I once placed my entire army (Nids) in the Battleforce box, then placed this box in my bag. Now, being out for a while before I arrived at my buddies, I had forgotten about my minis. Upon arrival, I threw my bag into the corner of his room. I then stopped, swore the naughtiest word, then surveyed then damage inside the box. Only a few genestealer hands, and I consider myself lucky.

Turn around slowly...

Well, one time I was at a tournament at my FLGS (games and gifts galore, google it) playing orks vs orks and my looted leman russ was sitting off the board after being destroyed by the other players battlewagon. A kid, who is a regular and indeed paints very well, accidentally knocked it off the table. It was an aw moment, but after i picked it up, strangely, it looked BETTER than before and I thanked the kid, as the leman russ was'nt very well converted anyway. Good times.

I haven't had any major damage done to minis in dropping, but I have dropped quite a few minis and had to touch up the paint. However, this weekend, I discovered a great side effect to the dipping meathod I adopted for the IG army I've been working on.

A sgt (plastic model with weighted base and metal head) took a tumble from atop a display case, 3-4 feet onto faux stone tile. The weight attached to the bases bottome flew off, but not a bit of paint was damaged. The Dip (Minwax polyshades) is like armor for the paint job!

Malecus Wrote: Wasn't a direct party to the event, but I can vouch for much worse having happened at this year's 40k 'Ard Boyz Finals. An entire table collapsed to the floor, taking both 2,500 pt armies with it. GW compensated them well, feeling as though the players weren't properly warned how precariously that tabletop was balanced on two rails (one player leans forward and... ker-crash!), but it still wasn't a pretty sight or sound.

I heared about that: one instance of GW not beibng jerks.
JUST last night, i war painting a farseer w/ spear, and dropped him on my hardwood floor. bent the crap outta the spear, so bad that half the primer chipped off. i almost beat the crap outta myself: my 3 year old is WAY more gentle with models then i am.
