all the elements for my conversion, las cannons from razor back turret, BA honor gaurd tech., unpainted bike from old white scar army, lots of parts and models needed for this conversion!



heres the after! parts chopped up, glued, green stuff, etc. this is what came out of that pile. Some filing and touch up work needs to be done i will post painted pics as soon as i get them! I am starting work on a small bike squad for the Tech marine.

I like this model! I always like using the MOF with Beamer but i think the guns a bit "big" i liiks as if it could topple the bike.

but other than that this is a win model.

I really think that you need to use an attack bike if you are going to put a gun that big on the side of a bike

And what is the guys non-stearing hand doing? I can't quite make it out.

its actually going to be attached to the side of the gun, i have the handle just haven't glued it yet, I am going to add another support to the gun, and yes manufacture a better "side car" i have no attack bikes.... but will come up with something.

Again, i liek the model but the gun looks a little unwieldy. I woudl shorten the barral and base the casing on a H.Bolter or something of that size.

for my MOF i used a Necron gauss cannon with a chopped down lascannon barrel (pics in my gallery).

A "little" unwieldy? How about massively unwieldy?

If you insist on putting this weapon on a bike, I'm going to have to go with the opinion of putting it on an attack bike's sidecar.

agreed. the attack bike, though technically incorrectly based, would look better visually.

That is really cool. Can't wait to see it painted.

Been trying to come up with an MOF on foot for my marines . . . But without heavy modification to the servo-harness and some unwieldy gun it's going to be hard to make it believable. =/

Heres what i used for a conversion beamer.

Cut the "rod" section out of a necron destroyer cannon, added a piece of lascannon barrel, then capped it with the nozzle form the destroyer cannon. Then mounted it all on a metal Warsmith servo arm:

I think it's rad. And I love the OTT size, just think the join should be smoother.

Good thing beamers are energy weapons though. I would hate to see what would happen if that gun had recoil!

It doesn't really look like a conversion beamer to be honest. Other than that it's fine.

Your weapon looks like a bazooka or rocket launcher of some kind, a conversion beamer is described to be relatively compact (around bolter sized) as it is either hand or servo held and as its a rare tech I imagine them to be relatively uniform in pattern.

I don't recall ever seeing that description.

The current codex doesn't describe it at all. The last version of it (from 2nd edition) was described as a support weapon on a self-propelled, wheeled carriage.

The only models made for it so far have been for Space Crusade (Marine version) and Advanced Space Crusade (for Genestealer Hybrids). Those looked like this.

But until GW gets around to making a model of it, people should feel free to make it however they want, really.



Meanwhile, I would agree that this particular version is too big for a regular bike. I'd go with the sidecar idea, or build him a Quad bike.

Conversion beamers used to have models, is the thing. The middle 3 here are conversion beamers:

Those (even the blue imperial one) look too much like Eldar weapons for my liking. I am going to pick up an attack bike kit, and play around with the side car, I just don't have an attack bike other wise I more than likely would have just started there, I want to get something on the table for an up coming game, and i think that does the job nicely.

Its rather sparse description in the latest codex is the first time i've encountered this weapon, so its a gun that makes big damage.... why wouldn't it be a big gun??? that could just be a general guy thing.... "MORE POWER!! *grunts*"

It should be as big as space marine missle launcher but not held on the shoulder IMO

It was shoulder mounted, you can see where the shoulder pad would fit under (just above the word "conversion")

Yeah it is possible but im working from the space crusade kit as i havent seen it anywhere else, but then again the space crusader rocket launcher wasnt shoulder mounted either on the model

Really though, i kinda had to start from the thunderfire cannon, its a BFG on tank tracks.... so a conversion beamer should still be a reasonably sized weapon IMHO

those pulse carbines still look like pulse carbines, something you might want to fix, make them look more imperial?

New conversion beamer looks even worse. It is a jumble of tau weapons stuck together.

i have a third and final draft, no pics yet, yes the first thing you will say is that it looks like a twin linked plasma weapon or something to that effect.... but i've dedicated to many bits and too much time on this project as it stands lol.
