Title pretty much says it all .
My most awkard moment happened at my FLGS , a couple of weeks ago . So one Saturday I'm sitting there with my friends painting and this kid walks in(probably a year younger than me ..) . So this kid walks in and is just looking around , not knowing were to go or what to do . Me and my friends trying to be friendly obviusly offered him a seat next to us . Then he draws up his modeles , and two or three pencils , and starts scouting for paint . After looking for ages for one paint pot he finally asked me : "Dude , can you see blood red anywere ?" . It was right in front of him ! So I hand him the blood red .
Later on as me , my friends and our new buddy are talking and he starts looking again . After another age he askes me : "Can you see Terracota anywere ?" . Again , it was right in front of him .
So I keep on looking for paint for him , in 89% of cases they were right in front of him , and I'm starting to regret the invitation we gave him to sit with us . After he asked for the 13th colour I finally cant hold myself . So I ask him : "Why cant you find any colours yourself ? Most of them have been right in front of you the whole time , I mean , your models look like you've been in this hobby for a goot bit of time , should'nt you be learning the colours already ?"
To which he responded : "I'm colour blind." I swear to God , my face has never turned so red . We are cool today , and from now on I'll take the hint sooner .
How about you ?

Says the guy with the awesomely painted tank in his avatar.
Although one of my teachers is color blind and it doesn't really hinder him. I'm guessing that it's still possible to be pro at painting though, it's just sometimes hard to perceive a few small differences?

Presumably unless someone's pallet includes say, both red and green, something like red-green colorblindness won't matter.
One of the people at my store is colorblind; his whole army is pretty much achromatic, so it might be black and white for him too.

Most awkward moment? Probably back in my group's proxy days, when we didn't have models. We were playing games using only dice (No, not mathhammer, not even just theoretical battles. We were using dice as proxies) and near the end of one game, we suddenly noticed something amiss - one of the players had somehow lost an entire squad of Necron Warriors. So, this came up.
"Dude, where are your Warriors?"
*long, awkward silence*
"I'm rolling them!"

I'm actually color blind myself.
While I am nowhere near white/black, the easiest way to describe it is that I simply don't see varying shades of color well. Some of my friends have asked me how I can paint so well if I can't tell see the differences in shades.
I've studied colors and I look up the color charts of various different paints so I know what colors are how many "steps" away from another colors and read the names on the bottles. Sometimes I have had to have my wife or friends with me help pick out various shades that I could not tell apart. When I paint, I write down what colors I am using on my models. Sometimes I have painted a miniature and I can't even see the shading I am doing, I just remember where I've painted what, and other people comment on it so I know they can see it. It is a bit odd, knowing I've done it and not being able to see it myself.

A mate of mine who lives just outside of Las Vegas is colourblind (as in a shades of grey kind). His is the result of a head injury as a teen (he was in a car accident).
Gravity and momentum decided that his exit from the vehicle would be forwards through the windscreen and through the rear window of the car (they had just rear-ended) to land inside it. He has a steel plate to show for it too.
(party trick of his after the incident - when his head was still shaved - was to stick fridge magnets to his head).
He is a CG animator these days, working in Maya. Final skinning he leaves for other people to do.

This is turning into the colorblind thread again lol. I played ina group years ago with a guy that could only see blues and purples. But his nids army looked AWESOME.
My most awkward I guess, is I like to exaggerate emotional responses from dice outcomes. Its just fun for me. So I was playing in a totally new group a couple years ago, and I got some retardedly awesome dice rolls, you know one of those "ok you take 175 powersword wounds, make your 5+ inv save that many times and you do it kind of thing"
Anywho, so I basically just shot the hell out of some uber squad with regular CSM and after the dice rolled I did one of those BOOOOYAAAA BITCHES *give the now dead squad the double bird* WHOS A BAD ASS SPACE MARINE NOW HUH!!!?!?!?!??!!
And the whole group went totally quiet. Im standing there with about 6 or so guys I just met starring at me like I just murder a small kitten. It was awkward to say the least

I was playing in a Fantasy campaign several years ago and the guy on the map next to me was a Skaven player. I had HEs and he had Skaven. I had probably played (and beat) this guy like 8 times, but I was trying to advance across the map so I didn't want to waste the time on his home base. I finally said screw it and destroyed one of his armies on his territory.
He started crying... He was probably mid-twenties at the time.

My most awkward moment was in my local GW store a few years back. Up to that point I hadn't had much interest in gaming but realy liked converting and painting, the guy in the store knew this and talked me into bringing my army in (Black Templars) and having a couple of demo games. It was a week day and pretty quiet so I thought what the hell. When I get there it was me, the staff member and a random kid hanging around with his tool box army case (this will become relevant). I worked out a quick army list with the staffer and set up my models, now I am by no means 'eavy metal standard but I paint to a reasonable level. The kid wanders over and starts molesting my figures and comenting on how I could paint them better, he then proceeds to spend the whole game telling me that I'm not playing very well and that my paintjobs aren't that great. I figure that I will just ignore him but he kept chipping away. I asked him what army he had and he said he had Crimson Fists, I asked to have a look and he sheepishly opened up his tool box. There was no foam and his miniatures weren't even wrapped, what he produced was a mashed up horror pile of lead detritus which looked like someone had spilt a strawberry milkshake over it. My reaction was to start laughing, couldn't help it. The problem was his reaction was to cry. That was pretty uncomfortable, but then again he was an obnoxious little gakker.
My housemate is colour blind, he works as a teacher and I quite often swap the ink in his marking pen from red to pink.

^Putting down smug little kids is better than crack. My friend had a Tzeentch Hordes of Chaos from last ed., with scratch built spell markers and Screamers made of putty and wire. The Screamers weren't bad, looked a bit like giant flaming bacteria. Some random kid comes up while my friend is playing, looks at them and tells my friend to his face they suck. The opponent asks the kid if he's ever scratch built a model before. He replies no, the opponent then asks: "Then, why are you talking?" and everyone in earshot laughs him out of the store.
My most awkward color blind related moment was when I used to enter tournaments claiming I was completely color-blind to scrape some sympathy points when they judged painting. So someone who knows I'm not, rats me out to the judge. He comes over and asks me if I'm actually color blind, I tell him no, turn away and kept playing.

My most awkward moment was when i first started 40k. i was playing one of my first battles with a friend of mine.we started together by buying black reach. so anyway i took the orks and my friend the SM. he made them space wolves. so whle we were playing when this 40 year old guy comes down the ladders and watches us. he looks at my friend marines and says : '' hmm... these guys could be SW...'' ''but they are SW'' my frind says.
and the guy says: '' now now dont tell such an idiocity. i've been playing 40k since 1994 and i have never seen a SW with a cape''.(he talked about the captain) then he goes to the bathroom. he closes the door. me and my friend look each other and then we did a nasty gesture towards the door and continued our game.
