I find myself relating each and everyone of you in my mind as whatever your avatar is. Alpharius is multiheaded MOD of doom. Frazzled is some kind of cyborg scavenger. Malf is a talking tau manpurse. Gwar! is a lame 80's dance move. So on and so on...

Is this just me, or does anyone else feel like they're talking to bizarre entities that share a common hobby?

I do indeed find this, I relate more to the avatar than the name or person =D

I try to disassociate the posts from the avatars.

But anytime I see that break dancing robot next to a quote of mine I get thrown for a massive loop.

After all the winter avatar hijinks I knida stopped using avatars to determine who a poster was.

I kinda want to write a story about Dakkadakka in the future, with the avatars as the characters. Gwar would be a high ranking vulpine lawyer, secretly on the rebellion's side, for example/

I almost never look at names.... If you have less then 1.5k posts and change your avatar you are a new person in my mind.

Well, Syraphym, I think it just makes it harder to remember / associate posts with you. Usernames are harder to read/see at a glance and know who is contributing.

Hence the case-of-mistaken-identity with Jin above

Originally I turned off the avatars so I could post from work confortably, but I liked it so much I keep them turned off; they contribute nothing to dialog.

I find an avatar contributes to your 'forum personality' so to speak.

I remember meeting two of my Dawn of War clan members once. I was a short 16 year old, they were both in their twenties, and hard rocking and smoking punks. I lost all respect from them after that.

It's very recent, so I still have to look at your name before I realise its you. I haven't seen it enough yet for it and you to have become one in my mind.

I don't know what to think of yours Kanluwen, since they change so quickly . By the time I get used to seeing you with one, it's gone!
