I just noticed that a ton of pictures of the normal Space Marines have been updated to represent the BA color scheme.

Psst. It's Angels, not Angles

But that is interesting. They didn't do this when Dark Angels came out.

I think it's kinda cool. If this wasn't GW I'd say it's a callback to waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day when Blood Angels were the poster-boys, not smurfs (not that I've been around long enough to remember that...). However, I'm not sure I have enough faith in them to be that clever.

It's a good marketing tactic but it looks so bland. :(
At least the Ultramarines had the blue broken up with the gold trims.

They also pulled commander Dante sometime in the last few weeks, I was looking at him just a bit back and laughing about my days playing BA and spacehulk.

Haha, I recall the scheme from 2nd edition. They were red, but certainly had a lot of orange-ish highlights.

Well yes, the color they were painted back then was actually called "Blood Angels Orange"

Is it just me but the BAs are such a characterful army that is totally pissed at with that dreadful colour scheme.

I mean spray red = done!
Its awful, no secondary colours what so ever, trims are red, armour is red, pads are red..ok bolters are black, whoop dee doo.

Its the perfect noob army for people that cant bother to paint anything.
I thought the BT were hidieous (spray black = done) but at least they require you to paint white crosses here and there.

It would be so much netter with at least one complementary colour like a different shade or red or orange for the trims and black pad fields.

Runnin up on ya.

Turns out that Bloody Angle is a place, a civil war site to be exact.

So does this mean that GW is going historical again?

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

You do know that a good red is really hard to paint, right? That's about the same logic as saying all you need to paint Orks is some green spray paint.

A paint scheme can be as simple or complex as you want to make it. I've seen Blood Angels with black trim, black pad fields, different colored helmets, caution stripes everywhere, and all kinds of other details. Don't make big sweeping judgments just because you don't like painting red. PS: Proper spelling and punctuation is lovely.

Completely agree. Painting red can be a total pain. Trying the same methods on different units can have awful results. When I first got into painting BA, it took around 5 different attempts to find a colour scheme for a Rhino that a) looked good and b) didn't look streaky / require a multitude of layers. Then there's obviously the fact that you can't mix white or black into red very well (unless you want Pretty Marines with the former). I found that it does take a lot of practice to paint red reliably, which in turn makes me a lot more proud of my BA when they are finished. A lot of work goes into them, so it's nice to see that someone realises it isn't just 'spray red'.

Honestly, the only colours I find WORSE to paint are whites and yellows.

I think it is a nice marketing idea, but that it didn't need to be done. I mean, Blood Angels, like Space Wolves, now have their own section. It just feels that Ultramarines can have the generic page. I mean, it's them. Dark Angels and Black Templar can have their own section when the time comes.

Totally agree with you brother Neith, my guys have black trimming to break up the red, as with white and silver as well. I agree the lighter reds on a blood angel look phooey, but a nice solid red with some black wash looks preety kick ass.

Sanguinary Guard and Death Company plastic box sets are now sold out at the GW US warehouse. Many stores have already sold every one of these sets they had on their shelves. My local Battle Bunker sold out of them on the first day, April 3. It will be at least a couple weeks before more are available. If there are sets left on the shelf at your local store and you were thinking of buying them now, don't hesitate or you'll have to wait a little while before more are available.
