9 TS - Sorc, Doombolt, Rhino
9 TS - Sorc, Doombolt, Rhino
2 Oblit's

@Kharnflakes:
Again, I disagree on the BoC suggestion, it's not decent at what it does.
@Ventriss:
Prince: I highly suggest the "205" DP.
Wind of Chaos + Warp Time, the first money shot you get to flame will give you tickles all over...
TS squads are decent, though I don't personally like them with respect to competitive gaming.
Oblits are decent, but with a mechanized look, maybe armored heavy is where you want to look to.

@ Sanctjud
Well funny you should say that regards DP i have now changed my list to do incoparate this DP set up.
I am now thinking along the lines of
DP - Wind, Warp, Wings, MoT
8 Choosen - 5 Metla Guns, MoT (Outflanking)
8 TS + Asp Sorc - Doombolt, Rhino
8 TS + Asp Sorc - Doombolt, Rhino
8 TS + Asp Sorc - Doombolt, Rhino
2 Oblit's
2 Oblit's
May have some points over but was very late and cant remember all points costs of top of my head.

Chosen need a rhino (Icon of Tzeentch is somewhat wasteful though thematic).

You wrote that the chosen wee outflanking anyway. With the rhino, they can still outflank, but have a 24" aggro range as opposed to an 18" one on the turn they arrive.

Sorry, I didn't mean rules wise they need a rhino.
Just to make them more viable, they would need a rhino. The 'actual' threat range would just be 12" from the short board edge if the 2D6 is what you need.
Crazy short.
With the rhino, they get the 12" move, 2" disembark, 1" base, 6" range of 2D6 for a total of 21" threat range for the 2D6 or 27" for just regular armor pen.
A world of a difference IMO.

I like it! Your Sons will shoot the crap out of anything that walks, and the DP and Oblits will shoot the crap out of anything that rolls.
Sanctjud is correct about the rhinos. IMO everything needs rhinos. Put your rhinos in rhinos. Those things are golden.
Use your group of Tzeench marked madmen running around in your opponent's deployment zone with tank killing guns to distract him from the fact that you have tanks full of soulless killers running pell mell at his lines. If you use them as a blitz unit to run in and cause a big ruckus, and then use that ruckus to get the rest of your army into place while your opponent reacts, that should work out rather well for you.

Does that add up to 1500? My 1500 point list is:
Daemon Prince 180 Mark of Tzeentch, Wings, Wind of Chaos
Sorcerer 70 Doombolt
8x Thousand Son 184
Rhino 35
Sorcerer 70 Doombolt
8x Thousand Son 184
Rhino 35
Sorcerer 70 Doombolt
8x Thousand Son 184
Rhino 35
3x Obliterator 225
3x Obliterator 225
1497 points
It looks like you've got room for another Obliterator, at least.
Was looking at the first post. Most recent list is filled out, looks good.

Thank you all for comments.
I am going to put the choosen in a rhino as advised just to give them more tactical viablity.
I am quite tempted to drop them though in place of something else but not sure what. I am quite liking the idea of taking a vindi but not sure.
I think that even though i only have 3 scoring units once the TS's are on an objective they are not going to be going anywhere! 3+ save and 4+ invu thank you very much! haha
What about taking Possessed? Unit of 9 maybe with MoT? In place of Choosen?

Even if you were to go with Possessed, they would need a rhino as well.
Most will tell you no to the possessed, but if you are running a Dust Bucket list, chances are you won't care for maximum cost effective options, so possessed are decent.
But missing out on all that melta action is a big issue.

Possessed are not only fun to model, but they make more sense in a Tzeench list than most others. Especially a Thousand Sons list. A unit like that will give you lots of punching power, and with the MoT those guys are going to stick around for a while with a 4++ save.
The downside is that you loose a big chunk of the anti-vehicle threat that the Chosen bring to the table. It isn't terrible, since you still have Oblits and your DP, just keep in mind what you lose, and deploy to correct your weaknesses.
If you do go with some Possessed I would suggest pairing them with your DP. Those two units can hold a flank all by themselves, and it makes any opponents on that flank have to really think about which one they want to shoot. It also helps that if they are deployed this way, there are no bad rolls on the chart. The DP can keep up if they get any of the movement abilities, and any of the CC tricks are just going to help you.

@Groslon:
Make sense?
They are the army that had most of their dudes turn to dust to STOP mutation.
If anything, it would seem like fluff kill...
It is terrible IMO.
DPs only do AT in combat, and Oblits will be over taxed in the AT department, which is not really their primary purpose >12".
There is only ONE bad combination with the possessed: Scouts and Dawn of War, otherwise, yes, everything is good (just the points are on the heavy side).

DP - WT, WoC, MoT and Wings
8 Choosen Marines - 5 Melta Guns, Rhino, Champion with Power fist.
9 Thousand Son's - Sorc, Doombolt, rhino
9 Thousand Son's - Sorc, Doombolt, rhino
9 Thousand Son's - Sorc, Doombolt, rhino
2 x Oblit's
2 x Oblit's
If i have enough points going to have 3 Termi Champ's with combi weapons and MoT.
All done? What do you think??

I Currently run a 2000pt TS list I would advise dropping out one of your TS + Rhino troop choices and load in
2x 10 Lesser Deamon
The reasoning is that though they do not take up troop slots they act as troops otherwise. This will give you Assault Marine stat lines with 5+ inv. They Assault off the deep strike and will give you 30 attacks on the charge. Just what you need after softening up a unit with your TS.

Well, you need icons for them to turn up period.
Dust Buckets have access to personal icons, and I like the Lesser Daemons option, it adds much needed counter attack or tarpit the Dust Buckets need.

4 anti tank shots shooting at a maximum of 2 units is not enough anti tank. Chosen are not that great, as in Dawn of War they cant infiltrate, and there is a lot of chance in outflanking - chance that can even be nullified by your opponent simply sitting away from the board edge.

If you are willing to drop breath of chaos you could get a termicide unit so something like this:
HQ
1 Daemon Prince w/ mark of tzeentch, wings, warptime
Elite
3 Terminators w/ combi-meltas
Troops
8 Thousand Sons
1 Sorcerer w/ doom bolt, melta bombs
1 rhino w/ combi-melta
8 Thousand Sons
1 Sorcerer w/ doom bolt, melta bombs
1 rhino w/ combi-melta
8 Thousand Sons
1 Sorcerer w/ doom bolt, melta bombs
1 rhino w/ combi-melta
Heavy Support
2 Obliterators
2 Obliterators
Or you could beef up your powers a bit and just go with something like this.
HQ
1 Daemon Prince w/ mark of tzeentch, wings, warptime, breath of chaos
Troops
8 Thousand Sons
1 Sorcerer w/ winds of chaos, melta bombs
1 rhino w/ combi-melta
8 Thousand Sons
1 Sorcerer w/ winds of chaos, melta bombs
1 rhino w/ combi-melta
8 Thousand Sons
1 Sorcerer w/ winds of chaos, melta bombs
1 rhino w/ combi-melta
Heavy Support
2 Obliterators
2 Obliterators
I highly recommend spending the 5 points per sorcerer for the melta bombs. And the combi-melta's on the rhino's give you a little more tank punch.

Something I am trying in my army and you may want to consider is
Drop The Rhinos, Obliterators, and Terminators
Add 2x Land Raiders as your Transports
The Why? At armor 14 with 2x TL Lascannons and a Heavy Bolter for 220 will let you roll up and onto objetives and sit there. I have found that yes you get a save from everything but often your opponent can force enough saves to negate your 4+ Inv. Once your TS are out in the open they will draw a lot of fire. Rhinos at armor 11 can get pen'd by any strength 6+ weapon. You need the protection of a vehicle until you are ready to fire and wipe your target which is why Lesser deamons are so important they are the CC blockers to keep your TS firing.

Well, the issue is, for the points invested you could have a pred or oblits, and then maximize target saturation.
With TS(the troops) in 2 giant baskets...tough, but makes target priority easy for the opponent (which is bad, with respect to fighting against a balanced list).
Even when they are delivered to shooting/slow charging, the output just isn't that great should the opponent see this and actually stick to cover or their mobile cover.
It warrents a try, but I think 1 raider and 2 squads beside it and one more CSM melta squad could do the trick... Automatically Appended Next Post: I mean, if we are changing things up one could always just use plague marines and call them Thousand Sons

TS are always priority targets. You can not field 44 AP 3 shots (2 TS Squads with Doombolt) and not have your opponent target them. Killing Rhinos is the fastest way to bog this army down. With 5th ed there are plenty of ways to do it. With the Land Raiders yes they are big baskets but Armor 14 means only a Melta, Vindicator, Lascannon, Brightlances, Chainfist, Krak Missiles, and the like are your only real fear. Melta and Lascannons are more common but still easier for you to target and destroy the few that are fielded than deal with the plentiful Str 6-7 weapon that litter the field.
