I've been working on an Angry Marines fandex. The general idea behind is to replace Combat Tactics with Rage and Furious Charge decrease BS and increase Strength. Anyways, before I continue on it, I'd like some opinions on my rehash of the classic Predator Angrinator (which is actually a whirlwind variant, not a predator).
Predator Angrinator-85 Points
The Predator Angrinator may be taken as a dedicated transport for a maximum of 10 models. No other models may embark this vehicle during the course of the battle until the Angrinator Missile Launcher has been used.

Angrinator Missile Launcher:
Range: 12"-48" S:4 AP:- Notes: Ordnance 1, Large Blast, Barrage
When shooting the AML, the embarked squad must be launched, (using the deep strike rules) onto the board, within the range of the AML. After scattering, place the Large Blast template over the squad, with the hole over the first model. Do not scatter. All models under the template take the S4 AP- hits. The assault phase after the AML is shot, the squad counts as having initiated an assault against the nearest squad to where it had landed. If there are no enemies within assault distance, the squad behaves as normal. The AML may only be shot once, and cannot be used by another squad.

If I could get feedback on balance, and points cost it'd be much appreciated. I'd also like to make the description easier to understand.

Edit: Oh right, and the deepstriking squad can deepstrike within 1" of enemy models.

Add 25 pts for "Angrius Maximus" Pattern Ghetto Blaster
any friendly units within 6 inches of the vehicle gains Rage and Furious Charge due to the angry and obscene language from the Angry Rap.

TL Power Chain Fist launcher "Manus Dei Sanguis Asinus Pattern" 15 points per pair bought. The launcher fires 48" str 8 AP 1 power chain fists. They add extra D6 when damaging vehicle
same way as Chain Fist do in CC

Does...does that mean it's balanced enough?

I never wanted to bump my own thread, but is there really no other feedback?
I hope I don't come off as childish, it's just that most of the other rules generate a lot of discussion.
Edit: Not that I don't absolutely love the idea of chainfists being shot from a whirlwind missile launcher.

Needs special rules for power spiked bats and power folding chairs. Also Commissar Fuklaw

Lessee, don't call it a predator if it's not a pred. How about the Furywind Launcher?

Do the AMs take a hit when they land?

Take out the idea they can DS within an inch. This breaks enough rules already and taking it out puts back some risk.

Love the idea, but as Comrade Kid-Kyoto said, take out the 1" deal. Just too complicated. But perhaps, I might suggest, they be able to land within a group of enemies, that the enemy unit first be hit by the shot at S6 AP- (since the Angry Marines are landing on them) first. This would show the Angry Marines landing on someone, and making room for them to land.

But I LOVE the wonkyness of this weapon! Hurrah for ye olde 40k style! A for effort! B- for execution! Gold Star in general!

it should after the hits from the shot is fired immediatly lock the angry marines and the target unit in combat for the following assault phase.

if the template scatters have the angry marines deploy under the template. if in difficult terrain simply have them make dangerous terrain tests.

I called it the Predator Angrinator because that was the original name, back in the original fandex, and in the "fluff" (although I don't know if you can call it that, after all, they're Angry Marines). Without the 1" thing, it doesn't really give off the feel off them landing on their enemies. I'll try my hand at revising, but this is never gonna be easy to word:
Angrinator Missile Launcher:
Range: 12"-48" S:4 AP:- Notes: Ordnance 1, Large Blast, Barrage
When this weapon is shot, if a scatter is rolled on the scatter dice, scatter the full 2D6", the Angrinator's BS has no effect. After scattering, but before resolving damage for the Angrinator Missile Launcher, fit as many of the embarked squad under the template (even if they are within 1" of the enemy unit), as if they had deep stroke (deep striked?) that turn. If you cannot fit all the squad members under the template, they must be as close to it as possible, while still remaining in coherency. If that isn't possible either, the squad member is destroyed. After placing the embarked squad, resolve damage, on all models under the template, as well as squad members that could not fit under it. In the ensuing assault phase the launched squad counts as if it had charged into assault with the enemy squad. This weapon can only be fired once.
I'm thinking I should raise the price to something like 115 or so, instead of completely scrapping the mechanic of them landing directly on the enemy.

Edited to scatter full 2D6".

It might be a bit early for this, but if people had the time, and felt like it, could somebody please playetest the unit at a few different points costs/levels? Please don't bother if you're going to be going out of your way, I hate being a nuisance.
I'd playtest it myself, but I don't have enough points to test it in a variety of situations (since I spend all my time painting my friend's stuff...) Oh and thank you for that picture Lunahound. It warms my heart to know that such beautiful works of art still exist.

ok i just got to say that I think this is a really silly idea. It's basicly a catupolt for marines.

You are also giving marines an 54" assault range for one turn. Add to that it's barrage which means it can hide out of sight and not be shot at equals completely unfluffy, and extremely over powered.

All enemy models under the blast template must make a moral check as a half ton of SM falls on top of them

I think...you need to be introduced to the Angry Marines. It'll do you good.
As for the 54" assault range, it's not that, it's deepstriking. Terminators have it. Drop pods have it. The Angry Marines just have it, except they assault (kind of like...hmm Vanguard?) Your comment, in an odd...sort of way did give me an idea though. The shot should scatter a full 2D6" if it rolls a scatter. It's more representative of them being shot at enemies, and not being designed to be aero-dynamic.

It's not deepstricking. They are already on the board. You have no conrtol over when a unit deepstricking arrives. These guys just sit behind terrain and either fire first turn for a first turn assault, or hold, them back until they are needed.

See the difference, plus they can assault the turn they are flung.

Shhhhh. That's how the Angry Marines roll; don't question them.

It's not like the Red Marines(now with nipple armour!) are all that different.

Even if they did assault first turn, would that even be a smart move? Sending a single squad of 10 marines (max) into assault with little support is a suicidal manouver. You'd have to wait until after the first turn at LEAST anyways.

Oh and not to mention, the Angrinator has a range to it. It's far, but it still has one. A normal deepstriking unit can arrive anywhere on the table. I mean, I already suggested adding points and making it less accurate. If you still think it's unbalanced, the range could also be reduced. But at this point, I'm hoping for playtest feedback if at all possible.

While I have not seen the old fandex I have heard this same idea is in it. And yes I read that you were redoing it your own kind of way but why fix what isn't broken?

And for those saying it's a "dumb idea" (to simplify...) they are Angry Marines... it's in their fluff.

Well that's the thing, it is a bit broken. Just a touch too messy for my taste.
