I was just curious if points werent an issue, what would be your most powerful squad, you can even attach an IC if you wish, brief estimation of points, and why you think it is so powerful. Please be somewhat concise, answers of "Terminators rock because they're terminators, are not what I am looking for, use mine if you want to see the idea. This i feel would be good for myself since I am still somewhat new to the game (6 months of playing) and may help others learn to beware of certain things their enemies may do.
Orks.
My go to A team for orks is
10x Nob Bikerz with at least 1 attached Warboss on warbike.
Nob bikerz, 4 Power Klaws, 5 Big choppas, 1 Painboy. I always give 1 a skorcha combi JIC, he rides in the front. They all get cybork armor, one gets a waagh banner (last to die) The warboss(es) get their own cybork armor, bosspole, attack squig, power klaw. This is a massive 20(+3 per warboss) wound army with 5+ invuln, built in 4+ cover, and 4+ reg armor saves. On a charge you get a min of 20 strength 9 power hits with feel no pain and even the big choppas become strength 7 which can pen most vehicles with ease.
I have used them in many battles, and they always earn their points. The best part is, any strength 9 weapons like lascannons, can be redirected into my warboss, so if he takes a wound, no instant death as his toughness is 5, not 4 like the nobs. In my last battle, they single mobbedly killed every tank on the table themselves. They are fast and can cross the board like few others. Alone they are over 600 points, with a warboss they are closer to 900, with 2 the one squad can go over 1k points wheeled death. The only real danger to them is Monstrous creatures, which they WILL kill, but will most likely lose a few good orks in the process. Comments?

Id say an assault squad is my special unit. Usually deep strike them into something like lootas or devastators. Got a leader with powerfist and 2 plasma pistols for some anti tank support. These guys took out a unit of devastors and a unit of basic marines last time i played them and its always nice to take out those big powerful ranged units early on in the game.

Grand Master with a Terminator Retinue of 9.
Grand Master has Hammerhand, Auspex, Psychic Hood, and Ungents of Warding, Psycannon.
Terminators have Holocaust and Incinerator.
Grand Master can now waste anything in the game by himself. He has an old school Force Weapon and Psychic Hood. You can't target him in close combat. They can shoot any infiltrators. GM can punch out tanks. The whole squad has a 4+ save against psychic powers even effecting them. Incinerator rocks the socks off most units (funniest when it makes Zoanthropes take a 5+ armor save). And finally that many power weapons is going to cause some damage. If needed...attach Stern to the squad and you have another pseudo GM making people cry.
EDIT:and then Holocaust ensures I win combat.

I never have one. Without a super unit my army is never crippled when I lose anything in it. No bad die rolls, no lucky shots = no worries. It really makes an army list flexible and durable over a long series of games.

you miss the purpose of this thread. I'm not asking what you would use in a game, i am asking what you think the strongest is, and why. If you were running 1 cohesive army list, unlimited points, what would be your best squad you would/could make?

In that case I would take the biggest IG troop squad you could imagine. I would have every attachment stuck into the platoon slot of the IG codex. It would be a zillion units and transports all from one force org. slot. Is that wrong? Do you mean one choice from one force org slot or just one individual unit within that multi-unit force org. slot?

If I could, I would have a 30 strong unit of Death Company with Jump Packs, Thunder Hammers and Bolt Pistols / 6 Hand Flamers because they can take on a full strength unit of boyz and anhillate them in a turn or less with 6 templates that don't allow them armour saves and then follow up with 24 bolt pistol shots and 60-90 thunder hammer hits. Oh yeah!
Otherwise, my best unit would be my Stormraven, because it deepstrikes in and destroys and infantry unit it wants.

Now...that's more like it. Pretty sure my Terminators could still eat through them. But this blob (with Commissars) is going to hurt most anything.

Yes they can be, but to get the blob you must take the PCS who can't blob and thus you are left with 2 units from one slot. Given that the op said an IC can attach, meaning there are 2 units in that one squad, I'm not sure what he excactly means. Maybe since he's only played 6 months he is getting the terms confused himself which is why I asked for a clarification, but was blown off.

12 Flamers of Tzeentch, with attached Blue Scribes.
Not worth the points cost by any stretch of the imagination, but it will blow away absolutely anything short of the massive number of bodies in the IG blob mentioned.
Or, alternatively, if I'm just going against the blob squad... 6 fiends of Slaanesh. The massive number of CC wounds will cause the entire IG unit to flee, and whatever fiends are left will easily catch them in a sweeping advance. Which is silly, but so is having over 150 guys in a single unit.

10 Wolf Guard Terminators
2 Chainfists

I actually own and played this unit and it dominates the middle of the table most games.
(It would really be ideal with a couple of storm shield guys in it too but I didn't make the models that way.)

I'll bring out the puppies:
9x Wolf Guard Terminators w/ THammer/SShield, Arjac Rockfist, and Ragnar.
On the charge, I can chew practically anything up with that. If I roll well on the extra d3 attacks, each terminator is dishing out 5 THammer attacks. That's nothing to sneeze at.
On the Blood Angels side:
30 Death Company, each with 2x THammers, and a jump pack. Add Lemartes.

And I rejoice to play against Nob bikers because Ghazghkull needs 3+ to hit, 2+ to wound and insta-kill vs. their swings back while he has a 2++ against. He's got a longer threat radius from a battlewagon, so is pretty much always going to get the charge, and at the end of combat, in every ork vs. ork game I've had against nob bikers, the bikers are swept (except for one game where my opponent rolled double 1s to stay)

-9 SM Biker squad, Khan, Chappy, 3 Techmarines on bikes. Rediculous costing, but very fun at a 1250 doubles games...conga line charges are soooo messy.
-10 Warlocks on jetbikes with 2 Farseers. A general anvil when Fortune gets off, lame sauce when fortune does not go off.
-My chaos army is just the Prince/Plagues/Oblits... I think they are all equally powerful in the list.

Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.

initiative on nobs with Big choppas is 4 on a charge, and no a warboss has a 5 naturally, so it does stop lascannon instant death, it actually becomes a 6 from the bike.
as for you dash, you missed a bit of my group apparently, 5+ invuln same, same as ghazkull, weapon skill would be so versus almost any other non named orc, 3+ to hit as well, (4+) vs thraka, and 4 of them also wield power klaws, same as thraka, and having the same toughness against non PK mobs its like a bunch of weenier versions of thraka that dont rely on a wagon Automatically Appended Next Post: DarthDiggler wrote:Cambak wrote:Also, they can be blob squadded....

The title is not false. It clearly states, I am interested in the unit itself. further on in the body, I state you may attach an IC if you wish <for a juxtaposition of the unit> you sir, and i know i said i was not going to respond, but stupid people need to realize their stupidity sometimes, is that it is still a single unit, with an HQ choice, you listed over a dozen units. If you forgot how to count to one, look at how many people agree with you so far, and count them. Here, I'll help, there's you, that is a 1, and then there's......why... there is no one else... that must be the number 1.
Sanctjud those marines do sound nasty though my bikers ate a similar squad last week he did roll poorly and i got the assault, was curious iof outcomes had I been charged Hope to see that one a few more times to find out ---I have never played against lysander, whats he do?
Diffident one, 5 thunder hammer hits each? Pretty sure our squads would wipe each other out, lol!
