Hey guys, I live in the UK and I can't really get too much Halo Clix products but I managed to find some cheap 4 model boosters. I'm a Halo fanatic so I pounced the opportunity and ordered 2, I'll probably play with my dad first so I'm just wanting any advice I can get. What models are good and what should I look out for in my boosters, also how many starter models and points do you reckon we should play with these 2 packs. Finally do I get counters to mark spawn points and promotions etc in the game packs or not? Thanks.

You get Spawn points in the pack. The points is 150. It's not like Heroclix and its ilk where you build a force then play along with it, you build a BASE 150 point force, then swap out for different figures as you go along(gaining additional points to buy more expensive and powerful figures as you go along).

The best place to find stuff is probably eBay or similar since it's OOP.

So you reckon 150 points base then with kill upgrades use the better stuff from the boosters. Okay, do I get counters n stuffs? If so what counters ta!

Sorry, got the points wrong: You get a force of 400 points or less with at least 5 figures, no single figure worth more than 150 points. You get counters for kills(first player to 5 kills wins), grenades, 2 spawn points(of the same color), and upgrades(each token is worth an additional 25 points towards upgrading that specific model, gained when a model kills an opponents model). You can also capture opposing spawn points, which prevents it from being used for respawns and allows a roll on a loot table(which can heal, give grenades, or give upgrades). You can also swap weapons(trade a figure for a different figure with the same cost from your Reserves). Your Reserves for swapping an upgrading is your ENTIRE COLLECTION with no limit.

Ah.

You get 2 Common, and either 2 uncommon or 1 uncommon and 1 rare. You also get a map and a cardboard token sheet. Also, IIRC, the 4packs are the ones with the Spartan in the clear window, so you also get 2 mini-dice.

Good to know I'm not the only one who plays this

I'd definitely recommend eBay, as the packs themselves are quite hard to find, whereas job lots pop up relatively frequently on eBay. Having said that, as mentioned a booster pack gives you basically everything you need: a handful of figures, a map, counters, and dice (albeit tiny ones =P). In terms of good models, I've found that both cloaked Arbiters are pretty good, as is Master Chief with Energy Sword (though they're all rare, and might take a bit of finding). On the lower points value end of the spectrum, the Arbiter with plasma rifle has always served me very well, as it's easy to get a kill or two with him, and start upgrading him early on. Oh, and Jackals can be ridiculously tough for their points value

I haven't tried the vehicle rules yet, despite having a Warthog. I'm hoping to give them a go soon, so if I do I'll let you know what they're like. The Warthog model itself seems to be relatively cheap on eBay now.

Thanks for the advice, I'll look out for that stuff, I've heard tartarus is pretty good too. Also I've thought about starting heroclix as I've foudn some batman boosters for £1.99 each on the internet. Do you play this too, if so what do you think of it?

I did give the Batman-themed Heroclix a go, but it never really grabbed me in the way Halo did. It's good, though, so if you can find cheap boosters and some willing opponents, it's worth a go at least.

Yeah, Tartarus is good too. My only concern about him is his (relatively!) low defence of 18 - compared to Sesa Refumee with his (basically) 5+ armour save, or the active camo Arbiters/Master chief. Still, on the offensive he has to be one of the best, undeniably. Got to admit I'm also a Sangheili fan in-game, so that probably colours my judgement

Looks good =) I've always found the minor brute to be rather good for his points, and Johnson makes taking marines worthwhile, so he's always fun too! Which store were you looking at for the Heroclix, out of interest?

It's called patriot games, but they don't have much heroclix and the only thing on offer was the batman things which are out of stock. The problem is I need to make 2 equal lists out of these models, obviously not using all of them because I need soem for upgrading. And I don't know what to do, I also don't want to waste the marine because of johnsons ability, any ideas?

Whereabouts do you live? I've a few spare Haloclix models I don't mind parting with for cheap.

How's the legion of superheroes starter set, is it good for 2 peopel to start because I found it in stock this time for £6 with free delivery.

Yes. Pretty much all HC Starters include enough for two demo sized forces(about 100 points each, IIRC).

Cool I shall convince thy parents to let me buy.

Does anybody know what happens when you have extra upgrades to spend and nothing to spend them on? Can you buy new figures? Also I'm still looking for some CTF or other gametype rules. Thanks!

You save them until you can afford to replace. The sad thing is that this game really is a "He who spends the most wins" type of thing, as it benefits you to own every single figure in the set to give you a larger variety of points values to choose from when upgrading.

As for variants for win conditions, the only official one is the mission packed with the Scarab. They said there would be new ones in Series 2(as well as the Scorpion between Series 1 and 2), but the game apparently wasn't popular enough to warrant a Series 2 or a non-Halo set of ActionClix(something else they stated was going to happen).

Would anybody bother to check out some new gametype rules if I could be bothered to write them, infact I shall maketh a poll and post a link to it here soon!
