Hey guys! I'm having some difficulty choosing a chaos legion....I've got the following Legions that I had in mind...1.) The Purge 2.) Word Bearers 3.) Night Lords 4.) Emperor's Children. What do you guys think?

night lords caught my attention as they aren't strictly chaos, not all of them anyway, they are essentially astartes still, just opposing imperial rule. if you fancied a small elite strike force ready to smash anything imperial aside, they're your guys!

Sounds like things are leaning towards Night Lords, but I'm still debating in my head. lol Thanks for the VERY warm welcome btw! ^^

alpha legion are still kinda loyal but renegade at the same time using loads of cultists?

the sad thing about the thousand sons is they were probably THE most loyal of the legions, and even they fell from grace.

the horus heresies are a great source of background for the fallen legions.

Could do a bit of everything. Not the first time that a warband is made up of more than one legion...

Well,maybe... The alpha legion don't really exist anymore. After several name-changes (Luna wolves,alpha legion,sons of horus, black legion), it's hard to tell with them anymore....Or an I getting alpha legion confused with luna wolves?

I always thought the Alpha legion to look cool, but it kinda died off after a while. Anywhoo, I do enjoy the Horus heresy series. I'm sticking away from death guard until I get more experienced with my "Green Stuff" abilities. lol =P

Well, first off: Welcome to Dakka.

So, chosing between the Traitor legions.. Not an easy task.

The problem with the 5th Edition is that the only ones that aren't game-wise normal CSM's, are the World Eaters, Thousand Sons, Emperor's Children and Death Guard. The others are just normal CSM's with expensive shoulder pads/Helmets/Torsos.

When you decide, keep in mind both what you like the looks of, what you think is the coolest to paint/field. Then look at their abilities. Let's say you'd love the World Eaters, they look awsome.. But then again, you don't want to rush into close-combat.. Read the Rulebook carefully about each of the four special ones, and then the normal ones, look at what they look like, or make a new Legion/War Band in your own taste.

I like how you wrote that. I'll take what you said into heavy consideration.

The Purge just sounds like a cool name anyway! and the schemes hot too !

But then my legion is just made up of a load of really old like 3rd edition models... i think... that are painted in any old legion colours. although i have done a rhino as world eaters and a rhino as flawless host....

The problem I spotted in making a Night Lords army is that (if you care for detail) the heads and shoulderpads for 10 CSM's costs almost as much as the models themselves, and then if you want the Rhino doors from FW it costs another 10$ per vehicle.

I'd say alpha legion as night lords have funny hats.

Well, yes, Alpha Legion has no need to buy any heads/shoulders (there are shoulder pads, but there's also stickers on the sheet in the box!). Night Lords have to (or, atleast should) use their helmets! .. Even though it makes the model almost twice as expensive.. GW are evil.

True, especially with their price raising. It's ridiculous.Its why I decided to do Blood Angels instead of Black Templar (Don't have to pay for all the extra chapter upgrade stuff.) Anyway, I've numbered it down to either The Purge....or Night Lords.
