I'm drooling.

(From: Kotaku)

Microsoft to unveil a smaller black Xbox 360 this week: Not only have a number of our sources been telling us that a mini-Xbox 360 is coming, but now ads for the device appear to be popping up on some international sites. The ads say it is compatible with "Kinect", has built-in Wi-Fi and that it sports a 250GB harddrive. (The ad had been running on this Italian site, linking to the official Xbox Italy webpage, but it was pulled a few minutes after this posted was published.)

Project Natal is now called Kinect: We're hearing that Microsoft's motion-sensing Project Natal add-on for the Xbox 360 will be officially renamed Kinect. While it's possible that the news won't hit until tomorrow, our money is on the name popping up tonight during Microsoft's big show. There is a trademark for the term filed by Microsoft in late April for "computer software, computer hardware, and computer peripherals." The term Kinect appears in an Italian Xbox ad, and while it could refer to something other than the bound-to-be-renamed Project Natal, the prominence in the ad suggests it is the new name for the new Xbox hands-free control system.

Basically:

o A hot new 360.
o Compatible with Natal, now called Kinect.
o 360 has 250gb Hard-drive, inbuilt wi-fi.

I dunno, the supposed new 360 looks shopped to me. Maybe it's just a bad picture.

It's pretty standard fo console manufacturers to introduce smaller models during the life-span of a system.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

Its around E3, every add is shopped, just like the "PS4 now in testing" add.

As for the smaller X-box. They announced that their E3 announcment was bigger then Kinect which I hope to meen is also bigger then then a smaller 360. Or maybe its just wishful thinking on my part.

I do not know if i will get it. Alot of stuff seems useful to me. like wi-fi and more space. But if i cant transfer my save games to it then no. I know memary card and harddrives wont work for this ne one. and the hard drive is internal. And it is real saw it on yahoo the other day.

Ok, serious question here:

Does anyone actually care about motion controls and slim consoles?

I'm not so bothered about kinect, but the new console looks damn sexy now I've seen some better views of it.

With the new console will there still be love for the older one? willthere still be updates. Fixes on warentys? Or will it become the forggotten child? And i have a 60 gb hard drive. My console never over heats even after 12 stright hours of playing. and wi-fi is the only big seller for me.
I cant connect to live without a hassle.

What's not to like about motion controls? It's a step forward. I'm still going to play my games with a controller because they are the pinnacle of gaming control (>keyboard/mouse, joystick imo) but it's still neat and an interesting piece of tech. It actually really works, and it's so much better than the other stuff on the market. I was considering getting a Wii just because my family loves the idea when we get together, but I'm not hugely into the Wii myself so this will be a great purchase.

Slimmer? Meh. It's got a huge hard drive, built in Wifi which is said to be much faster than the current adaptor I need for my 360, and I'm due one. I've had my 360 since the day they came out, and haven't upgraded. It's died on me 4 times, so this is a just an upgrade in my eyes.

I just bought a new Eliete a month or two ago so no new console for me unless GameStop is going to give me a good trade in value.

I already preorder my Kinect during my lunch break today, it looks neat. I just hope they come out with a few FPS for it, I dont really need another larger WII.

Come to think of it, how awsome would a remake of the oldschool Area 51 be that used the Kinect system, use your finger as a gun, that would be awsomeeeeee!

Wouldn't it just be cheaper to get a wii instead of a kinect? Lets face it, the games are basicly the same and the only difference is you have the wii remotes which arn't much of a burden. And IMO, Lucas art messed up with the star wars game for the kinect. Please, I may sound like a complete idot for saying this, but really, imperial stormtroopers, fighting alongside CiS droid battle tanks on a planet that looks somewhat like Naboo.

Like the look of Fable III though, that looks pretty good.

Meh, it's prettier on 360. HDMI and all that good stuff. And just as precise. And I have the console anyway.

Gathering the Informations.

The Kinect, quite frankly, is going to be cheaper than multiple PS3 Moves. Some back of the envelope math:
$49.99 for the Move's "Lollipop".
$29.99 for the Move's "Navigation Guide"(which seems to be required to do games wherein they're going to have long guns, etc. The Killzone 3 "Move" demonstration used both).
$39.99 for the PS3 Eye(which is absolutely 100% required for you to use Move, as the Lollipop is detected by the Eye).

Bear in mind: That's $119.97 for just one controller. Not sure yet if you're going to need multiple Eyes to use multiple Moves.

Kinect is $149.99, but detects multiple player inputs with just one simple unit--and looks like it's going to have more functionality in the form of videochat, and being able to share ESPN programming with it.

And you can scan in items and use them a bit like Move controllers. Apparently.

Really? IMO motion controls are a dead end. It has no value to any hardcore gamer anyway. I don't like games that tire me physically

Looks like a Wii birdman.

I especially like how the character moved before the actor demonstrating it did.

Apparently, the new X-Box has a redisigned chipset for the processor and graphics allowing them to redesign the internals hopefully fixing the cooling problems.

The new slim 360 has the graphics and the processor on the same chip, it cuts down on the space needed for the multipule heat sinks, it also looks like it uses a slimer disc drive.

As far as supporting it goes, they will probably contiune to fix them in the short run, but I can see them trying to phase out the old style consoles....

As far as motion control being the next big thing... Lets remember back many years ago when the purpose designed game controller came out, it was supposed to replace the mouse and keyboard. Fast forward to now and I still have a mouse and keyboard that I use to play video games on my PC with. Each controller has its advantages and disadvantages and I dont think you will ever see one, beat out the other.

All things being equal I own a wii and a 360, I sold my PS3 when Netflix on demand and the Zune Marketplace came out on the 360. The Wii is neat, its fun but I cant game on it for veyr long, the controller hurts my wrists. I wish it had better graphics and a more "hardcore" catalog of games, but the console specific games for it are generaly pretty good. It is the only console to release this time around with a truely noval concept so it deffinatly gets credit for that. But either way you look at it Microsoft and Sony are trying to capitalize on the motion control bandwagon and who can blame them given the Wii's popularity. I dont think its going to work out for them the way they want it, I think there are two catagories of gamers that they are going to effect. The first is the casual gamer that just owns a Wii, they are unlikely to bother with the Move or Kinect as they dont own the system. The second group is the hardcore gamer, who owns an Xbox and/or a PS3 and a Wii, they already have the Wii, so they are going to be looking for something different.... Since I already own a Wii, that has wand, Im going to put my money on the option that isnt the same as what I already have...My money goes with the Kinect just becuase it is different.

As far as the Kinect not haveing a controller to use as a "gun" am I the only person that would be ammused to hell, to be able to use their finger as a gun?

No way man, finger guns were all the rage when we were kids. Now tell me that wouldnt be cool turning someone to swiss cheese by doing the KACHOOO motion. I mean I saw in one of the warlock movies, HE killed someone by doing that, and ever since Ive wanted to.

Im pretty turned on to the new 360 Im seeing. Im just curious if they fixed the insane RROD problems its been plagued with. But the new price is also something I like as well.

Gathering the Informations.

The RROD was most often caused by overheating due to inadequate ventilation.

They added a crapload of vents and altered the processor and a few other bits to counteract that.

I wonder if the new 360 slim will be coming with a file transfer kit like with the Elite back then.

They'll be selling one separately, or you can transfer files with regular USB memory I believe - it'll just take longer.

Dunno. The transfer cable costs £15 (€18.25) anyway.

Absolutely.

The original EyeToy and the Nintendo Wii have sold many millions of units and hardware and software.

Every time the hardware is improved by making it smaller (and usually cheaper) there is an uptick in sales -- this worked for PSone, PS2 and PS3, the GameBoy, Advance and the DS.

Im worried they are trying to kill old fasion controllers. I mean motion controls games are kinda dump to me. if i wanted to exercise i would ride my bike. Video games are about me relaxing not getting stressed because of clumsy i am with the controller. An motion controls will bring out more critigues of video games. they will just say it is just trying to corrupt our kids with fps.

In your base, ignoring your logic.

I don't like the new shell. It's ugly as hell.

Seriously, I think they were literally trying to make it an x-shaped box. The new one is supposed to have more USB ports though.

As far as the "move" and "Kinect" go, they're both nothing new. The Kinect is just the eyetoy on crack and the move is just a wii controller(although I bet it would be a wii controller with rechargeable battery packs).

This is surprising though, when the new slim came out I told my friend it looked like the shell of a new XBOX system and now the new XBOX looks like the first PS3's.

From shiny to dull and dull to shiny. It's funny how the world works.

The added wireless is nice, but for the same price I can also get blu-ray on a certain other system.

In my opinion, the best thing about the new 360 is the fact that the other two versions have dropped $50 in price.

The new 360 also maintains the same hard drive that was on the more expensive bundles(250gb), but the same price point as earlier 360 consoles.

$299.99 for a 250gb hard drive versus the 120gb hard drive of the PS3. The 250gb PS3 is running $349.99, discounted.
