It's smaller - the old ones wouldn't fit the new case. It fits inside via a cover on the bottom of the console.

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

I found it a bit silly when they advertised someone playing a driving game.
Isn't having something in your hands the point? Be it an analog controller or a steering kit, driving is just a tactile thing. I'm not doing Nürburgring with my hands out in the air. No.

The idea behind Kinect is basically the same as EyeToy.

Research done years ago during the PS2 era showed that one of the major barriers to gaming by "ordinary people" was the complexity of the controller. The point of EyeToy (and Buzz, etc) was to get rid of this barrier.

It also allowed people to see their own faces on the screen, which is fun.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

I couldn't care less about a new version of the 360. I've had in total five of the blasted things. The first one red ringed and died, microsoft replaced...two years later...red ring...microsoft replaced...a year later...hardware issue, not red ring, microsoft refused to replace because not red ring error. Microsoft told to stick 200.00 repair bill in red ring...third xbox arcade version bought, hard drive from previous box switched over...six months later, 2nd xbox purchased so linked games could be played with flatemate...one year later, just two weeks after warranty expires...hardware failure...200.00 repair bill from microsoft...again, told to stick in red ring...

Die screaming microsoft, if I didn't love Halo, GOW and Saints row so much I'd toss the last one in the bin and stamp up and down on it.

A slimmer version, no thanks, the last thing I need is my damn console coming out with a slimmer version of its self, when by playing it so much, I'm no slimmer!

From what i've seen its never worth the repair bill from Mircosoft to get a 360 fixed.

I've only ever had a problem with one 360 though, and that was a first shipment box that RROD when it was 5 years old. The new version 360's are much better and the new slim should be even better about overheating.

Yeah, I learnt that the hard way, I've got three front covers displayed on my bookcase, representing each and every time Microsoft spanked my wallet!

It roasts your marshmallows twice as fast.

In all seriousness, the 360 does have a higher chance of failing than most other systems, but that can also be due to luck. After all, only 3% of wii's fail yet I have seen them do so.

My Elite died two days ago, I'm out of warranty, so I might as well get a 360 Elite Slim.

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Have to say that I've not liked the look of the new console from the pictures I've seen.

And I'm not replacing my 360 unless it dies and can't be repaired.

Also really not interested in motion control. My wife has a Wii and the controls (even with motion plus) are clumsy and awkward and never seem to actually repsond properly half the time.

The only way that motion control would interest me is in a Cave system with suitable controls that can distinguish between moving "on the spot" and you moving to navigate through the environment.
