What is your favourite moment you have ever had while playing a game.
I'll start the ball rolling with an assault that couldn't have gone any better. Lysander (me) just got assaulted by a hive tyrant with 3 remaining wounds. I saved all the wounds I recieved with my 3 up invulnerable and I hit firstly with only 2 attachs but the master crafted rule saved me. Then I managed to wound easily. He failed his invulnerable and was crushed by the fist of Dorn. Awesome! Please comment and post some of your great gaming experiences.

Last round at a tournament... playing against a tau player for first place.

Its the 2 objectives mission. 1 in my zone, 1 in his. Spearhead deployment. If we draw, one of the other players at a different table might overtake both of us for first place. I decided to go balls deep... rush my ENTIRE army into him, hoping to break his army and hold his objective (I have biker marines and first turn... so I'm getting there fast).

After 4 turns of him sacrificing unit after unit to slow me down, (and devilfish walls blocking my movement) I have a single unit of bikes left, and a lone sergeant remaining from another squad. I turbo boost my sergeant back, to try to hold my objective, while my other bike squad engages his last squad of fire warriors in hand to hand (he cannot hold his objective at this point).

he hits my sergeant with 3 marker lights... my cover save is now a 6+ instead of a 3+. He fires a squad of 3 broadsides into my lone sergeant turbo boosting down the field.... 3 hits. he rolls 2 ones. The last hit, wounds my sergeant... and I make my 6+ cover save. Next turn, my bikers engage his broadsides, my sergeant makes it back to my objective, and I win the game.

6+ cover saves ftw.

My Librarian in Terminator Armor, single handedly engaged a 10 man assault squad killed 5 in two progressive turns of combat, lost no wounds, broke their morale and then proceeded to chase them down and kill them to a man.

Second favorite moment was my Captain with a thunder hammer singlehandedly breaking Skarbrand over his yellow knee. I was so proud of him

5 terminators assaulted by 10 th/ss AT's.

the Assault terminators killed me by 6 unsaved wounds, but my power fists did 9 unsaved wounds.

I did 360 pts damage, he did 200.

his terminator lost his gall and ran for it.

maybe he attached his thunderhammer to the enemies rectum?

i've seen worse fails from terminators than that, solon.... had a game where I charged 5 grey knight terminators + a grandmaster into a squad of 3 grey knight terminators + a grandmaster... I lost my ENTIRE squad, he lost 1 model.

terrifyingly bad rolling on my part, + he rolled like a god. nevermind I had more than double his attacks...

I have a couple favorite moments, in no particular order:


1. 6 man firewarrior squad rapid fires into a carnifex (the old kind) and drops him (he had three wounds left). Next turn, lictor pops up and assaults firewarriors - causes no wounds, takes two in return and...rolls double for saves, getting killed.

2. 15 burnas in a single game killed a 10 man plague marine squad, 10 khorne berzerkers and 3 obliterators before getting stuck in with a defiler. They've had many games of heroic moments.

3. Ghazghkull Thraka assaults a land raider and explodes it. Librarian casts null-zone and assaults Ghazghkull with the TH/SS terminators inside. Ghazghkull kills all of them as well over the next two player turns. Then he jumps into a battlewagon, crashes into another land raider and boarding planks it until it explodes.

4. Playing against an army of foot-slogging TH/SS terminators - squads of 10. I have 16 or so ork boyz in cover, and 8-10 TH/SS terminators assault into them. Boyz get to go first with 4+ to hit, 5+ to wound....and all the terminators die before getting to strike back. Bwah ha ha.

WH vs Tau

Inquisitor Lord get his retinue blown to bits by Tau shooting.

Gets charged on his own by 20 Kroot. Makes more 3+ saves than is considered holy. Loses 1 wound.

Kills 3 Kroot, they fluff their moral check and flee....they roll a 1.

Inquisitor rolls a 6 catches and wipes the rest of them.

150 or so points wiped out by a 60 pt model.

Pure luck I know but none the less epic.

I don't have a favorite but i have a wost i rolled 30 dice and got all 1's (bad day)

another one:

A tactical marine combat squad sittin' by it's lonesome, shootin' off some loveryly lascannon shots when one of them gets a slight tap on the shoulder, they turn around, get assaulted by 20 ork boys, they loose 4 guys... I get 30 wounds.. (god, that was sad.) ... and save 29 of them.

he was pissed off.

It was a seize ground mission, and i had my two 5-man all missile launchers devastator squads dug into a building nicely blowing all his troops choices of any objective they tried to hold. In turn 3 commander O'shovah came into the fray with his oversized posse of suits. They scattered the full 12 inch away from the building, but they would get there by turn 4. I had the lone sergeant of an assault squad nearby who had just won an assault against a squad of fire warriors. next turn i had him assault O'shovah. surviving during the combat into turn 7 on 6+ combat shield saves. winning me the game by keeping him in combat. This may not sound that good, but the face on my opponent every time i made my 6+ save was priceless!

I charged 8 termagants at abbadon the despoiler killing him easily.

That moment my local CSM player realizes that just because one unit of the squad is in range, IT DON"T MEAN THEY ALL ARE.... silly, he owns a rulebook but has never once read it...

Roughly 8-9 years ago, pre-Apocalypse games, we were playing a no force organization, just for fun giant game. It was 3 Eldar players vs my IG and a Space Marine player I had just met. One of the Eldar players kept bragging about how awesome his seer council was in his Wave Serpent, and how many points they were. He explained how he could get into close combat before we knew it. The board was an 8x12 foot board. 1st shot of the game, I fired my Basilisk with a guess of 120 inches with the Wave Serpent as the target and hit EXACTLY on the target! Penetrating result of 6 = nobody left alive, vehicle annihilated!

I recently had a unit of 12 Burnaboyz roll up on a 30-man IG blob platoon and kill 26 of them in one turn. They were right up against the table edge, so they failed their break test and were gone. The Burnaboyz do something like that every game.

Nids versus Tau. I'm Tau.

We're on turn three, his nids are getting dangerously close to my carefully deployed Fire Warrior gunlines, but I feel like I've got it under control. He rolls for reserve on his drop pod with three Zoanthropes. They come in. He brings them in right next to one of my FW squads. I get the feeling I'm in trouble. I bring my single unit of Kroot, who are down to 8 models, back towards my gunline. I'm within range to either rapid fire or assault. I'm up against Nids, and I know that if I assault, I'm dead, so I shoot. 16 shots. Twelve hit. Twelve wound.

He rolls ones and twos on his invuln saves.

All three Zoanthropes die.

Hell yes.

A squad of 7 plague marines once shot 2 meltas at one of my rhinos, made it explode, and rolled 6 inches for the explosion. I rolled 4x 6's to wound the plague marines, and he failed all 4 saves and FNP. The next turn the squad inside the rhino shot a melta killing one more and bolt pistols killing a sixth, and then finally assulted and wiped the last one with my lightning claw.
Won me the game.

My Ghaz assualts a 10 man death company with astroth the grim. He hits ghaz with 5 inv saves (5+ saves). I make all of them, then he tells me to re roll them due to astroth's rule, I make all five again. Then ghaz procedes to kill him and his squad.

A minor, but recent moment: having a couple huge squads of various Ork boyz rip apart my terminator squad (including lord), but get absolutely decimated by a counter-charge from the two CSM squads nearby. He didn't realize I got 3A off the charge...

I had 1 squad of 5 lootas take out 2 rhinos and 4 squads of space marines, then my battlewagon full of meganobz when up and cleaned house on a land raider full of terminator. that was my favorite moment, that I can remember.

My favorite moment is still when I took out the last 2 wounds on a fex with a gun drone. Couldnt put a dent in it with 4 shots from plasma rifles but the gun drone got it.

Lysander, Shrike and 10 Assault Terminators assault my Monolith, doing nothing.

My next turn I tank shock them and they roll boxcars for LD. Since they are encircling me at this point when they break they barely get more than an inch away from me at their closest point.

Their next turn the player rolls a low number for their fall back move and they remain broken. I follow them up and the next turn they are OFF THE TABLE.

700+ points destroyed and I didn't fire a shot at them!

Tournament mission special rules having every unit deepstriking on the table, with mishaps putting the unit back in reserves for deep strike the following round.

I played a mech IG army that deployed his LR plasma cannon squadron, 3 chimeras full of lasguns, a LRMBT with executioner, and a squadron of lascannon sentinels on one side of the board and managed to drop each one pretty much where he wanted it, leaving just enough room for a single unit of my own on that side. I plopped my jetseer council into the middle of that mess, stole the initiative, popped one of the plasma cannon LR's, and took 96 shots from the various armor and only lost a single model.

Crappy BS + 3+armor/4+inv + Fortune = win!

1# Played a 1000 pt game against my brothers Eldar with IG contained a nearly 500 point seer council with Eldrad Ulthan charged them with Stormtroopers in the 2nd Turn Seer Council misses all its attacks Storm Troopers proceed to kill 4 from the Seer Council (3 Warlocks and the Sergeart ran Eldrad through on his power sword) seer council breaks and stormtroopers run down

2# Killed a souped up chaos lord in CC with Conscript losing only 2

3# Mortars missed Black Templars squad in front of me scattered hit the Assault Squad and killed 4SM + Chaplain

For me its still gotta be my footslogging UM (back in 4th) verses tau game, all that made it accross the board was the Termi Cap w/ TLC and 4 PF Sarges all facing separate units, Captain having endured 3 rounds of relentless railgun fire charges the broadsides and runs them off the tables, 1 sarge takes down 4 kroot from 12 and they flee, 2 more sarges chase off the un-bonded FW squads and the final sarge pummels the hammerheads side in with the explosion killing another 2 Kroot. His turn BC/MP Crisis Suits do squat to 3 of the sarges, and the Kroot rapid fire at their pursuer, who goes down, but gets up again from his bionics and in my turn kills a further 4 while the cap and 3 sarges kill the suits, his leader then shoots the cap who goes down to one wound but the sarges' 4 bolt pistols kill the Shas'el before an assault can happen.

5 men and the ruin of an army

My freind plays a SM army thats heavy on tanks (6-7), I rolled 6's for every damage roll and made every one explode killing units that were following close by

I've got 2 I really like:
IG v. WH:
First game at my first tourney, My manticore barrages his rhino parking lot, I roll a 6 for the D3 shots, I get all hits, I spread out so each rhino gets hit once. They all die.

IG v. Tau:
Marbo drops in and nukes a Crisis squad, killing about half of them. They assault, and get killed. Marbo runs and kills a 6-man stealth suit squad with a bunch of markerlights, then proceeded to kill 5 or 6 kroot.

This was a doubles game. The sides were me and my IG friend vs a whole lot of space marines. We were playing Capture and Control. The opponents had a unit of assault terminators that had been steadily marching across the board for the entire game, and still had 4 of 5 models (he just wouldn't roll ones...). They were within range to contest our objective so we had to get rid of them (this being the last turn).

My FW squad sitting on the objective rapid fired into them and managed to bring one down, but that didn't help and they were still coming. My friend's IG command squad was the only other thing we had on that side of the board, but all he had surviving was his leader (bolt pistol and powerfist) and one other guy. We didn't have any choice, we had to charge the assault terminators.

The one normal guardsman attacked first and did nothing, then it was time for the commander and the terminators to strike simultaneously. The IG commander scored one wound with his power fist. The terminator failed his save and died, but the terminators also scored a wound. My friend took the wound on his commander and succeeded on a 5+ invulnerable save. Imperial guardsmen beat assault terminators in close combat!

EDIT: This is only made more epic because it caused us to win 1-0 (they didn't have any troops choices left on the board).

I played a friend of mine in a game one day and he used deep strike to place his termies next to me. They fail and I get to choose the mishap. All 5 termies in the squad land in difficult terrain and roll their ankles.

He rolled 6 ones, five dice and one finger as I laughed my ass off.

Once at Conflict i was playing a tutorial game the battle of macragge. My enemy had placed 2 squads of termies in the one place on the walls of this giant terrain piece so i deepstruck two Mawlocks into them and took out 8 termies including his ones with assault cannons then i moved in a Lictor and messed him up next turn. I won that game first game i ever won.
