It might depend on the Chapter. but I would think they kill them or imprison them as punishment.
depends on what they did really.

Fluff wise,i have read of a few ( other than the servitor thing ).The Imperial Fists have their pain glove, which fires up all the nerves in a marine without doing any physical damage. And just having re-read Brotherhood of the Snake, the Iron Snakes sentenced a marine to death by giant sea snake. Its a bit like the medieval ducking stool for a witch, she drowns and is innocent, she lives and is guilty, but in this case, getting eaten proves the SM is clear of guilt as they would not eat the guilty. Then there is sending them on a death walk ( ultramarines-uriel ventris ) to atone for their crime

For failures of duty then much like Commander Endova lists. Plus much soul searching, flagellation and prayer.
But for Crimes and Heresies then I can see a marrine being sent to the apothacary and chaplain to be studied as to whether their geneseed was corrupted and its eventual recovery i.e. pop a cap in his ass.

Depends on the "crime"
Flagellation / other self penance rites - often self acknowledged and performed with no external notice
Reduction in rank
Being made to stay behind from a mission. in penance
Being exiled from tyhe chapter and being required to perform one final task or die trying
Death
Imprisonment, if any, is a short termed thing - normally to get the marines to a place where tehy can be judged and sentence carried out. For example isolating them on an unpowered ship whcih is then towed back to the chapter.

I think theyre cut off from their friends and families, their sex organs are removed, theyre condemned to live the rest of their lives according to petty-bureaucratic rules, and are then sent to die at the hands of the most horrible monsters in the most hell-blasted god-forsaken places in the imperium, earning final release only through violent death. unless the chapter doesnt want to let them die, in which case they will be further condemned to a living-death as a shattered corpse floating in a coffin from which they are never to be released except again through violent death.
Really there isnt much more you can do to them..... death would be a sweet release.

mmm not sure, to be a real punishment he must have consciousness of this, or no? i can see the chaplain using the crozius to whip the marine for encouragement ("Run penant! there's 2000 Km more until redemtion"!)
out of OP: i didn't saw this pic before, i LOLed hard with this one

Maybe they have to stay in the pain glove while watching bad t.v shows like perfect strangers from the 80's and early 90's? then be riden by a chaplain while he whips you with his crozius around a battle that you aren't allowed to participate in? sound pretty bad to me!

In the Ragnar books They mention the Blood Eagle, which is a Norse punishment/torture/exectution method where they rip your lungs out from your back while your still alive and then put them beside your body to make them look like wings.
In the SW codex they mention exile.

BloodDrop101X you owe me a new keyboard because I just spewed coke all over mine! That's freakin' hilarious!
On topic, if you're a Dark Angel you don't wanna know what happens! It all depends on the severity of what you did. As Marines are generally valuable they aren't often sentenced to anything that would leave them out of the fight unless they've done something really bad.
