This may be a weird question but can a human and and eldar reproduce? and do they have a similar DNA? As they look quite alike sept for the ears and culture.

I may say it would be unlikely to happen. But maybe if they were darkeldar I can see a situation that would involve contact between the two races.

They probably could, but to be honest both kind would probably be repulsed at the thought of intercourse with the other.

In the Rogue Trader era there was a Librarian that was Half Eldar. Such a thing would be nigh impossible these days, as Space Marine candidates are genetically screened. Deviation from "normal" human DNA would exclude the candidate from training, if not sentence him to death for the crime of mutation.

I also remember reading something that states Eldar mates must copulate several times over the course of the pregnancy in order to reproduce. That alone suggests that their DNA makes them more than simply "pointy-eared freaks." While both species may be anatomically compatible, I am doubtful that they would be genetically so.

I would of thought they could produce a hybrid like a mule or a lyger being that they are sterile but from what you said melissia it would be impossible to reproduce at all.

Considering we are on this topic, does the same apply for humans and Tau?
I know they're closer genetically but the Tau have cobalt instead of iron in their blood.

They probably are mammals but i doubt if they're anywhere near compatible with humans.

Just think of the circumstances that two individuals of differant races come into contact in the Warhammer 40k universe:

1) On the battlefield. Unlikely to have sex there, if they do the mother would have to survive.
Implausible.

2) Diplomatic meetings. Those are very scarce and diplomats would know the implications of "sleeping with the enemy", literally.
Implausible.

3) On homeworlds. Yeah, I'd like to see how long a human settlement indoctrinated by the Inquisition would allow a alien to live amongst them. And Eldar wouldn't let a human on their Craftworld, not even as a prisoner.

I don't know about the genetics, but the situations for inter-specie sexy-time are very, VERY unlikely to happen.

Tau is an interesting question. Eldar and Humans have, on the exterior, many similarities. Toed feet, 5 fingers, and melanin-based pigmentation that goes from pale-pinks to dark browns, and most importantly, obvious sexual dimorphism.

Tau on the other hand, are hooved, 4 fingered, blue, and the level of sexual dimorphism is debatable. The one known female Tau model has a slightly different face-slit that what we are largely sure are males, and her suit suggests nothing alluding to the human definition of a mammary gland. (i.e. boobs.) Hell, we aren't even sure how Tau reproduce. They are bipedal, so genitalia in a location similar to humans is possible, but for all we know, Tau reproduce by slamming their face-slits against each other. What's more, the above only deals with Fire Caste and Ethereal models, and to a lesser extant, Air Caste. There is, to my knowledge, no deceptions of Water or Earth Caste physiology. We don't even know the results of inter-caste breeding, never mind inter species.

So lets assume that Tau come in both sausage and taco varieties, and that their genetic makeup is stable enough to produce inter-caste offspring. There's no way that a human/tau fetus could come to term, due to the above mentioned anatomical differences. You'd have about as much luck as painting a two legged cow blue and having a proper go at it.

It says a few times in the fluff that the Eldar look fairly human, but are as alien as anything else out there.

Water Caste is roughly as tall as Fire Caste if not a bit taller, and possibly a bit more slender.

With those points put aside, we all know because of those three points it would never happen we're referring to the possibility of reproduction theoretically.

And in theory this is the end result, with all points put aside. Humans and Eldar are simply genetically incompatible, also with the differences in how humans and eldar reproduce. Humans only need to do it once to conceive, where as eldar have the initial "seeding" and several more applications afterward. While Eldar are very human looking beneath all of that they are quite alien.

It's always possible that the species might end up mating in some situation or other. Maybe they both need comfort in a time of desperation. Weirder things have happened. But no viable child would come of it, if any at all.

Genetic basic ... if you have one chromosome more or less the child will be deformed (Down syndrome). This is because the Genome is the instructions to build us you cannot easily add or remove from this without breaking it.

RT had interspecies reproduction, but all the fluff from those days has been destroyed.

GW has said many times that interspecies reproduction is impossable in the current fluff.

I agree that Eldar and Humans coulden't reproduce under normal circumstances but just as an idea what about genetic manipulation? And I think we should refer to this theoretical offspring as a Hudar
