I just got the new plastic battlebox and the army book but there is something i dont get, do the warcasters have no point cost, or am i just being dumb? I come from a 40k backround, it just looks funny to me.

Lower right hand corner WJ + number
WJ is Warjack Points
The Number increases the size of your army by that amount. However, you must spend
those points on Warjacks in the warcaster's battlegroup.
So you'll see people add up army lists that end up costing 41 points before you apply
the "free" warjack points. WJ + 6 means a 41 point army is legal for 35 point games.

first, congrats on joining with cygnar! Second, no. The warcasters are free pieces, and they give you bonuse points to spend on warjacks for your warcasters battlegroup.
So take colman for example, he gives you +5 points (i think, dont have my stuff). So if you have a jack that cost 8 points, it takes 5 away making it a 3 point jack. Or if you have a 4point jack, it becomes free and you still have 1 bonus point left over to use on another jack in your group
But the points can only be spent once and for wajacks in his battle group only.

Stryker from the battle box is a great caster to learn to play with, solid spell list decent stats and an easy to use feat. You already have the battle box, now pick a unit you like a solo or two and get to it, good luck and remember try and have fun.

You already have Stryker from the Battle Box, so I'd say play a lot of games with him until you get comfortable with him and at that point move on other Warcasters.

pStryker is pretty far from in your face combat, he favors keeping distance from the enemy and killing them from range before striking to the heart with couple of heavy hitters. Epic Stryker is the cygnar's go to guy for close and personal combat.

Epic Stryker is so fun to ram down people's throats.
There's something awesome about POW+ Str = 27+ with 3 focus left and in charge range.
I love running him with Ol' Rowdy and a Stormclad. Lots of stormblades too. It's a tier list so it's a little less "competitive" but tell that to the guy I just charged 17 inches away. 20 if you blow his feat.

If I went Cygnar, he'd be one of the Casters I would get.
He does army support, he does melee assassination, AND (as I've seen) DAKKA assassination.
3 Fully Boosted Magnum Shots (Reinholdt) is pretty scary when given the chance.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

No matter though. I think the cyclone will be fine. You could make the inevitable gunmage unit + UA marchal the jack, making it a real threat on the table.

The Cyclone doesn't really need focus... so isn't so bad with eCaine, but yes, Marshalled to the Dude makes it fearsome.

Plus the Ironclad is too slow to keep up with eCaine. You'd need to put him on Jr to make it work in an eCaine list.

I wouldn't marshall a melee heavy with JWC. The small control area means it is really difficult to shield the poor journeyman from assassination and it is so easy to cap him. I would only marshall ranged jacks with him.
