I know I can't be the only Muhreen on this site that's stationed at Lejeune. Who else is stationed at this pit? Anyone willing to go to Havelock (Rules of Engagement Games, for the win)? Having my Orkz and Templars sent here at the end of October.

Yeah...right off base is the Hobby Chest. Horribly priced (even by GW standards) and very tiny. The walls are packed with models for sale, but it's all hodge-podge and hard to search through. Adding to that a "No Returns, Ever" policy, and I'd rather not go there.

I'm an AF dude temp stationed here, and yeah, its horribly priced (I only buy books from there while here). However, a tourney is coming up this weekend. I'm also down for a game anytime this week. I leave next wednesday tho tho go back to NM. Theres a TON of marines that play up at hobby chest Sat/Sun.

Meh, I'd be down but sadly I'm on a communications exercise all this week. That, and my armies are still in transit, unfortunately. I'll stop by when I have my gear, I would say.

NP buddy, I have no idea where the other shops are here or I'd gladdly go those places to play lol. But being TDY here means I'm pretty limited... Ah well, GL finding a game, tons of players here!

Hah, I saw that during my limited time in the Hobby Chest. Guess there's one in the main part of Jacksonville--Head to Head games. By far I'm liking Rules of Engagement in Havelock, but not having a car is a detriment to that.

I've never been to anywhere aside from the chest, my good friend Laughing God says the one in Wilmington is rather well organized. I like the Chest though for what it is, though it may be cluttered and overpriced, you generally get a good group of enthusiasts in there every weekend, its a sort of warped family lol.

Oh I agree, I've met a bunch of good guys up there on my short stay here. Only a few bad apples, but generally, every game I played up there people were cordial and friendly and open to advice; which was a nice change. People where I'm from are dead set on what they play, even if they lose a thousand times, kinda gets old quick lol.

yeah no kidding, the bad apples are usually grumpy little tweens or bitter angsty college kids, though you do sometimes get over zealous boots there which gets a little annoying, "Hey I'm a Marine! and I play Space Marines! See the connection!" aside from that though, its like you say, an unusually level headed bunch of guys that get out there and are always open to criticism and happy to give advice.

that too, I'd forgotten about there, there are kids who come in there every so often and pull stuff out there ass, I've had to become a whiz on just about every army aside from Demon Hunters just so I can catch their BS. Their was a crew of people who came from Greenville one time and one of their group challenged my friend to a game, Orks v my friend's Eldar 1750pts. My friend trounced this fellow even after multiple attempts on his part to bend the Ork codex around the rules. Afterward we tallied up his points on a hunch I had, his army came out to around 2500 pts. lol, some people.

I know I'm guilty as well, I play Imperial Fists and Iron Warriors, I just don't run around touting the fact that I'm a leatherneck in a town pretty much comprised of marines lol. Again, some people.

If you get a free day and don't mind the ride, Hit Point Hobbies is a good store in Southern Pines. Would be good to get some fresh blood, if even only once in a great while.

Quick question, do people still smoke in Head 2 Head games? I always thought it was odd that the place I was buying comic books also sold cigarettes and then smoked them all over my stuff. Nice guys though.

Never been to Head 2 Head--checked, and they apparently don't sell 40k merchandise. Sucks, but oh well.
Also, if I could drive the ~4 hours out to Southern Pines I'd love to, but alas--I'm sans vehicle right now.

Google says its only 2hr 55min, which means real time about 2hr and 30m, at most. Still, sans vehicle means any distance is not happening. If, by some chance it happens, you are always welcome at my shop.

Wait I thought H2H was the comic/heroclix store right outside of Jacksonville. Am I thinking of the right store? I remember it being next to a tattoo parlor or something with abysmal parking. Automatically Appended Next Post: where are you at that its 2 and a half hours to get to H2H? Automatically Appended Next Post: Granted I was driving from midway park.

Not to H2H--to Southern Pines. And I forgot I wasn't gonna be in a humvee convoy. The trip out to nearby Ft Bragg took that long.

I'm an avid hobby chest player. Ur right on the prices but as brother H says its kind of a warped family there. And if you come to tournaments be ready for everyone to powergame ur face off. Im more of a casual friendly game player myself. The cheese stinks too bad at tournies there.

Ya I really think they should come up with some sort of sportsmanship point system for that shop. Like bonus VP for people with no named characters and less spam and such. IDK, just notice this shop more than anything has ALOt of FotM players and whatever is the pwerlist at the time everyone jumps on it. lol huge laugh when everyone rushed out and got tyranids with the new codex and all the talk of "OMFG Doom O Mal and SWARMLORRRRDDDD, TRYGON SPAMMM!!!"...... then the FAQ came out, lmao no more nid players now.

Don't knock FotM players. That is how stores stay in business, which gives us a place to use our toy soldiers.
