The idea is that it takes extra effort and time to write properly, and they’d rather save the time. If you can still be understood, what’s the harm? While most of the time a sloppy post CAN be understood, the use of proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling is generally seen as respectable and desirable on most forums. It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. By making this effort, you can often elicit more positive responses from the community, and instantly mark yourself as someone worth talking to.

Yup, because you know, jobbing people left right and centre, feeling the camaradarie as your line receives the charge, plus the gallons of Mead and the wenches in revealing clothing is soooo lame. I mean, who in their right mind would actually enjoy a drunken punch up?

Far better to sit on the interwebs spanking your monkey. I mean, if you go LARPing, you might actually meet a real girly girl, with bewbz and everything. And we can't have that now can we.

A friend of mine LARPS, the way she desribes it makes it seem pretty cool. I might give it a try at some point. It wouldn't be that hard for it to top D&D.

Well when you're around a bunch of greasy nerds in chain mail 2 sizes too big or small, you really do look like the alpha male of the pack.

Meh. It's grown men pretending to be something they're not. Kind of like the Detroit Lions pretending to be professional football players.

So, yeah. I think it's larping.

Edit: Not that it's a bad thing. Live Action Roleplay and SCA are shades of the same activity, I would think.

We may have a different understanding of LARPing, Mystery. In my experience the posted pics here don't really represent the LARPing community at large.

Your assumptions about me were amusing however.

Not much fun being tarred by a particularly large brush?

And trust me, the pics above very much are representative of LARPing at large, at least in the UK.

In a North American context, excluding Renaissance Fairs(if you're counting those) I stand by my original statement.

heh. If I could cast Unseen Servant and Grease, I'd never need to go adventuring.

And that one in the animal head? Sneak along, exploit their reduced vision, then smack the snout. Round it goes, can't see where they are, and BOOM! One skinned furry.

Just like you do with Clankies!
