Did you guys know Canada has a friggin desert?

just because you can't spray em legally doesnt mean an adult can't. Get one of your parents to do it would be my idea.

You're not playing the game like I play it...why aren't you playing the game like I play it?! O_O

paint faster? you could basecoat using the major color of your army (ie blue for ultrasmurfs, red for BA, green for dark angels) that way you eliminate a step in the process, other than thati cant think of anything that would still allow your models to look good...

Please visit my Trade Thread I'm always looking for something and usually have something up for trade.

Why is he putting such restrictions on what your able to do, i guess i can see from his standpoint the whole not using spray paint but only allowing you to paint one type of marine? WHere is his support of creativity ??

thats just asenine...and confusing...i cant imagine why your dad would make such restrictions...anyways, tell him there is no "proper" way to paint a model, its however you want to paint it, if hes looking to teach you the proper way to do it, he should help you prime them... "properly" lol

My suggestion is that you ask your dad to teach you, how to spray paint responsibly. Have him show you, demonstrate that you understand, and see if he'll cut you some slack

Assuming that you just want a painted army on the table rather than a half painted half undercoated, then you could try just base coating the major colours. You get all your minis coloured quickly and if you're Dad complains you can say it's just a base coat. Once you've got it to that point you can go back and add details/shading/layering. If you need anything else to convince him then just have 4-5 of the base coated models painted using different techniques and/or shades.

Also don't let others limit how you paint. Take their advise but adapt it to your own style before applying it. Experiment alot, you're likely to come across a method or combination that you really like.

I think there might be some confusion going on here about who's doing the restricting of what.

I believe it's GW that won't sell the spray paint to under-18's because of legal concerns about solvent abuse.

And Spya's dad wants his models to be his own work.

If I'm correct, perhaps your Dad could go with you to get the spray and, if he's concerned, make sure you're using it sensibly - protecting the surrounding area with old newspaper, not sniffing it, etc...

Relative to the cost of the models, primer is always worth the cost, even at GW's prices. Of course, there are less expensive alternatives out there too.

well some say that the best paint to use to prime is chaos blask or shadow grey if you've still got one hanging around. I still remember the days when all mini's were hand primed because we didn't have citidel spray paints the primer was a stinky white gunk" ahhh the good old days how much did they actualy suck!

Can any of our Aussie members suggest modestly-priced alternatives to GW primer that's readily available out there?
