I would try watering it down, itll fill the recesses more and more detail will pop out. Plus its a great way to save paint lol

The problem with that is that the wetter the paint, the less it adheres to the plastic!

You must have hit the sweet spot!

What I mean is that the paint tends to cling to itself - the way mercury or molten metal does.

The danger is you go too far the other way and end up with paint so thick it obscures details.

Anyway, as I've said before, compared to the price of minis, any sprayed primer seems a good investment.

Spya are you watering the chaos black down and then putting it on?

not yet but i will try today later.

Woah, no wonder it takes you so long to undercoat!

I undercoat by hand. It doesn't take too long and I think it has some benefits. If I don't know the model, then it shows me where the problems areas are. Also I'm more likely to notice bits on the model that need cleaning up, like flashing that I haven't removed etc.

Spya, you should always thin your paint, even moreso when undercoating. When I undercoat the first layer is so thin the paint kinda seperates and you can see some of the plastic/metal poking through. By the time I hit it with a second pass the paint has started to dry and is slightly tacky. The second pass then usually completes the undercoat.

This way your paint is on so thin that you don't lose any detail and it's super fast cause the paint spreads real easy.

One note of caution, when putting the paint on thin and quick, you can form bubbles. Just keep going over the same area until no bubbles exist.
