I want them to have something from every space marine chapter even DIY chapters

So you want a single chapter to have something from 999 (aprox) other chapters?
They would simoultaneously have to:
Follow the codex
Not follow the codex
Hunt the unforgiven
Struggle with the black rage
Have close ties with the mechanicus
Specialise in:
Hit and Run
Guerilla tactics
Fast assault
Space warfare
Defense
Offense
Killing Tau
Killing Orks
Killing Eldar
Killing Tyranids
Killing Chaos
Have a large amount of pykers
Hate psykers
Be rogue
Be loyal
And finally they would have to have an unknown primarch
And that is just counting the chapters from the top of my head.
Maybe just easier to do something else.

Like we said on the Thread over in General Discussions 'what type of background are you looking for?'

Asside from what purplefood said some other basic information to think of is:
- What is their Warcry
- When was their Founding
- Who are they Successors of
- Who are their Successor Chapters, or if they even have any Successor Chapters
- Number of SM
- Who was/is Primarch
- Who is their current Chapter Master, if different from their Primarch
- What is their Homeworld, or are they a space based fleet
- What is their Allegiance. I'm guessing they aren't Chaos, so it would be the IoM

Dakka's full of great people who can help you flesh out your Chapter fluff, but IMO it's best if you create the basic groundworks yourself.

Do you have specific questions? Are you looking for suggestions for specific details?

But seriously OP not only should you create the foundations for your fluff you can't really have every single chapter in it.

The answer is in the title DIY=do it yourself, if you have a good backbone of a story then people can help flesh it out.

Seeing as there are so many opposing mentalities having lots of little stuff from every chapter won't end well.

Yep. make it an ultrasmirf successor. (they're the only chapter to have "missing/lost" successors.

If thier gona be from another legion you need to make up a primarch and they cant derive from ultra marines because they would be from a different legion.

You realise that that is the reason they made those two missing and it is just the crying of the smurf fans that apparently makes it impossible, right?

Sure it hurts my head as well to see extremely badly written stuff. But, you can always just ignore it completely.

they made them missing to enhance the air of mystery and confusion in the year 40,000, not so SM players can make up legions.

Eventually yes they became like that, the original intention was to give them even more freedom with creating their own chapter. So as not to have to be forced to shoehorn it into an existing one, or to be a baby smurf.

But, it will make people hate you if you do use it for some reason.

that is the reason.

That is a guideline set by die hard marine fans so they will not cry and rage at your army of plastic soldiers.

Seriously I don't care either way, I'm just saying you are not forced or restricted by the missing legions.

I agreee, but it is just poor writing and fluff for the entire army to just be a lost legion. I spent 4 pages on my fluff- not that you should too, but to make fluff properly, it takes time.

Indeed, but regardless bad writing will be bad writing. But, I can see how it is likened to puns in writing.

Why wouldnt you just make a Deathwatch Chapter?
