Guys, does anybody know what happened to this?

It was announced in 2007 but ever since then--nothing.....

Any news?

Just to clarify, Jes mentioned in interviews that the Dark Eldar Reavers were developed from that Eldar prototype jetbike along with a non spiky Eldar version which presumably has been put on hold until the next Eldar codex or wave release.

That's not completely true. The jist of what Jes said was that the prototype was just that--a prototype/proof of concept. It was never intended for release, it was just to show the general idea of what he'd do if allowed to redo them.

It was on "What's New Today" back just prior to the release of the new DE stuff, when they did a series of posts on the design of the new stuff, that they put a copy of the basic chassis of the Reavers aside ready to be used for a new Eldar jetbike. If I can dig out a link I shall!

Nobody "knows more" about it than Jes Goodwin.

He has said that the Craftworld version is not being released at this time, and that furthermore it was modified from the original prototype to become the Reaver Jetbike.

It's likely that when we do see the Craftworld version, it will not look too much like the prototype.

A new Craftworld Eldar codex in 2012 would be great. So would a CSM legions codex.

Mmmmmmmmm, codices......

I honestly dont see why they couldnt have released that Jetbike. However it would create some serious clash with Shining Spears and Warlocks on Jetbikes (however, given what we have now, it wouldn't have been hard to leave the issue with the players to remedy. At least we have not-goofy looking jetbikes).

I know I'm going to take a vicious sakking for this... but it doesn't look all that different to me... Don't get me wrong, I recognize it is all new, the silhouette is a bit different, it is more detailed and textured, and the rider of course. But overall, it wouldn't offend me or clash with the current version were I to see both on the table.

It wouldn't be as apparant as say an old rhino vs the new, or an old landspeeder vs the new, or wraithlords etc.

That's probably because it's likely that when we do see the Craftworld version, it will look a lot like the prototype.

nevermind I just realised why they didnt release this, detailed parts like the hand isnt sculpted and right now is just tacked on as a piece of plastic. Maybe it's the rider that wasnt intended, as it may have been a mockup done with a converted guardian for show.

I will be very happy when it is replaced. The current jetbike isn't terrible, but the rider and the chunky winglets definitely show their age. And the less said about the Shrieker Jetbike pilot the better.

Completely agree with you on this one.

Looking at the Eldar range, alot of the models are from the second edition and havent been updated. They are in some serious need of lovin after the Necrons and Grey Knights.

Most of the Eldar stuff is actually really good and has held up MUCH better than the previous Dark Eldar stuff. Off hand, the only two things that really need new figs are the Jetbikes, which need to be more crotch rocket and less chopper IMHO, and the Avatar, which just needs to be bigger.

I personally would like to see plastic Wraithguards too. Even if they're not that feasable, I still would love to field a Iyanden Ghost Army. Jetbikes come first though, as they're actually useable.

Most of what makes wraithguard difficult to field is the expense of using a full unit of 10 or two units of 10 models. At $15.00/model you're looking at $150-300 in troops alone, not counting the cost of the spirit seer. Plastic should definitely reduce that cost by about 75%, meaning a box of 5 for about $35.00.

That being said, there are wonderful things you can do with a Necron Warrior, Eldar bits, and Greenstuff (keep in mind, it's WIP at the moment):

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

This almost makes me motivated to make updated sets of these models and associated sprues for them. Me and my friends have access to the techology. We're just afriad that GW would sue the pants off of us for it though =(

My guess? Plastic wraithguard, 5 to a box 57.50

Most likely it'lll be 40 CAD for a box. Only the Terminators ever approached the 60 CAD mark, and that's because they're rather popular. Wraithguard would be more along the lines of Incubi or Possessed pricing due to their inability to take any options besides the Warlock.

Unfortunately, probably 3 for $45.

Isn't that what the plastic Ravener box set came out at?

If they beefed them up and made them Ravener sized that wouldn't be Too bad.

Well, I'm considering selling my Wraithguard as a big lot, since I really, really hate selling on eBay. Anyone interested in 20 of the little buggers should drop me a line. They sure do shred Plague Marines, TMCs, and superheavies.

Back on-topic, I'd like to point out how easy it would be to kitbash the DE Reavers into Guardian bikers, as long as you have the old jetbike hoods to work with.

In fact, a Reaver-Guardian jetbike mod kit would be NICE to see from one of the aftermarket companies...

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Well, that's part of it.

The other part is that they just don't want to do it until they revamp the majority of the range at once, ala Dark Eldar.
