Well, with the discussion concerning the choices made for the Villains in the upcoming Nolan Batman film,I began to think of all the various films that have been made in attempts to bring the Heroes from comics to life.

I also begin to recall how very awful some of those attempts turned out to be...So,this is what this thread is for,a place to discuss those films that aspired to bring us our comic book heroes and fell way bellow our expectations...or simply fell right on their faces.

I'll start the ball rolling with this little gem...

....Even "Carl Kolchack" couldn't save that one.

Elektra was terrible,of course given that I had seen Daredevil I expected it to be terrible...but still, she was less of an assassin and more a youth counselor with some sai.

I really believe the Daredevil/Elektra films are some of the worst comic to film adaptations ever.

The Flash series had some good moments, but overall it didn't really catch me.

The later superman films, above Daredevil/Elektra stuff. The later Batman films, Catwoman, Hellboy II,

In fact the only good comic films I've liked were Hellboy I, the first two Batman (both Nolan and original), 2nd Xmen, and 2nd spiderman. Sin City was good but does that count?

Sin City was a graphic novel and IMO counts...pretty good film BTW.

Spiderman 3 was pure crap imo, the second one was boring too. I'm actually one of the weirdos who didn't think either Iron Man was that great. I mean, they were ok but it still astounds me that there are people out there that compare it to the Dark Knight which came out that same year. Not even close imo. X-men 3 was also horrible as well =P.

I don't care much for RDJr so I didn't like Iron Man. IM2 looks better, but I've never seen it. X-Men was okay, X2 was only saved by Nightcrawler's awesomeness, X3 was terrible, and I thought Wolverine was okay, but I'm sure that it failed to portray characters accurately. Especially Deadpool.

Actually,of all the Fantastic Four films,I found the Roger Corman one to be the most entertaining....of course I didn't find it entertaining for the reasons it was meant to be.

Oklahoma City, Ok.

I can't believe no one has mentioned the Spawn movie!

the HBO animated series was decent, but the movie blew chunks, inho.

Beaten to it! The Spawn movie was terrible, terrible terrible.

While I also liked Scott Pilgrim, the comics are much better. Same with Kickass, I guess.

I would include The Spirit or whatever, but it wasn't really based on a comic, just seemed to borrow characters (and not even correctly). Still, I gave it a shot, seeing as it came from Frank Miller... And I thought he should've written a graphic novel instead.

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, now that was terrible.

I guess that the only comic-book/graphic novel adaptation I really rate high is The Watchmen.

@ Destrado.

The Spirit did indeed come from a comic book.

First appearing in the 1940's.

Yeah, I know Fitzz, but I also read that most of the characters weren't as portrayed in the comics (main character's sex appeal, the Octupus showing his face), plus was completely unconnected to any of the published comics, which is why I said that

Doesn't this actually make the argument that it belongs on the list of worst comic adaptations?

IMO, I don't think we can call it a comic book adaptation, because all it did was borrow the characters' appearences. The others do try to follow the base material to some degree.

(I do love old comic book covers. The whole "the world isn't ready for your robo-lobsters" is delicious. I think Dr. Doom had quite a few pearls in that department, as did Superman)

EDIT #2 : I read lobsters, not mobsters. It was good while it lasted.

I have not really liked any of the spiderman movies, the First one was bet "best" of the 3, but tobey maguire just isnt all that great towards the end of that series.

The X-men: wolverine move, i thought had some potential but it just fell off towards the end.

Ghost Rider.. Nic Cage just is not a good person for the role.. they should have conned someone like Brian Deegan, who ACTUALLY rides motorcycles for a living.

Not entirely based on comics, but Conan the Destroyer.. who in their right mind would even attempt a Conan movie that was rated PG!?

As has been said, the daredevil/elektra movies, though Colin Farrel as Bullseye was actually pretty good, until that last fight.

I thought that the Edward Norton "Hulk" was much better than the 'other' one.. seriously.. a steroid poodle!? wtf.
