First three were good as material to scare women so they snuggled up to you during the films with some interestingly devious traps but the rest are trash.
I saw the first one. It was a pretty crappy movie, it was contrived, and the 'moral' was the kind of incoherent nonsense you typically find in low rent exploitation flicks, because that's exactly what the movie was. The only fun thing was laughing at the hilariously incompetent policeman, probably the least capable guy I'd ever seen in a movie.
I didn't bother with any of the rest.

To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

I hate the saw movies. If I wanted to see people die in gruesome ways... Oh wait, I don't. You guys make me sick In all seriousness, they are pretty lame.
I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.

Ill add a little more on this one. The first one was really good. The ending just blows your mind. The rest, need to be recycled into toilet paper so they can learn their place in the world.

I honestly can't tell the difference between them.

How is Saw a 6/10 movie? The plot is incredibly contrived and entirely derivative, the characters are barely sketched at all, and the films says absolutely nothing of interest at all. The gore is well done, and to an extent that's all that matters because that's pretty much what the audience is there for. But the exact same could be said for Hostel...

They're both silly, and they're both gore porn. When you say 'slightly interesting traps' you mean 'death traps that killed people in ways I found enjoyable' which is gore porn.
There's nothing inherently wrong gore porn, by the way, when really well made you get films like Seven. It's just that when looking at a film you need to step back and look at how well the film was constructed. You said Saw was an average movie, but was there really anything in the plotting that made it stand out from the rest, were any of the characters drawn in believable or interesting ways?

Why the heck would I defend a movie that I consider average at best? I really don't care if you hate it because I really don't like it. I watched it once and was mildly amusing. GOMA
The initial idea was interesting, but it kinda got boring after a while. You can only play the 'Man forces other to go through horros to learn to value life' plot so many times before it means nothing. So yes, good idea that was ok, but then the studio turned it into a cash cow.....and yeah. At least it's not as sad as things like Secret of NIMH or Neverending Story who were GREAT movies that got turned into crappy cash cows....

Saw wasn't too bad, but I prefer the movie you've taken your username from!
Another mission, the powers have called me away. Another chance to carry the colours again. My motivation, an oath I've sworn to defend. To win the honour of coming back home again.
Meh, haven't seen them, don't want to. I like my gore to be.... "Necessarily" done. You know, like in Gears of War; it's gory, but beleivably so. Cut a guy in half iwth a chainsaw, he is going to bleed. I don't like Mortal Kombat, it's too... deliberate?
I suppose what I mean is, I like my Gore to be "Wham Bam, thank you maam!" over long drawn out violence.
Query: Why is it that the guy who plays gory video games is a freak, but the girl who watches all seven Saw movies seen as cool?
I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.
So, is the first one really worse than older horror movies? I mean, all horror series that go on forever end up getting really crappy after awhile. Did you like Friday the 13th, or the first two Halloween movies? Now compare those to the rest of the series. Saw is no different than other horror series, because they all get repetitive after just 2 or 3 movies, let alone 12 or whatever.
Personally, I prefer stuff like The Shining. Then again I always preferred psychological horror movies over slasher stuff. They're more enjoyable, since they have a good plot, and are often scary in unexpected ways.

But still, it just doesn't compute.... I mean, what makes movies more acceptable than games? What makes watching someone get ripped apart on the Silver Screen through an elaborate trap, over tearing someone in half on the White Console?
I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.
Because video gamers are still 'nerds', but 'cool' people watch movies. Then again, stereotype says that it's men who want to watch blood and gore, so maybe there's a chance to convert this girl to nerdom?

I take it you haven't been trapped in a room with a movie buff for any length of time. It isn't pretty.
