1 was good-ish, the rest is just recycled crap. I have no clue how those movies keep making money.

Hostel was awesome because of how bad it was, it was a big comedy, with gore

I try to avoid watching movies with movies buff unless I want to be snarking at it the whole time. Besides, when I said what I said above, everything was in MASSIVE sarcasm quotes.

I have only watched the first one, and i thought it was a really good film. I might try and watch the second one, but apparently the rest don't even really have a story line, which kinda makes it pointless....

No,there is a storyline/consistent theme through out the "Saw" films,it's just not a very good story line IMO and while there are some attempts at "social commentary" in the films, most simply serve to set up the next kill.

I should point out that I personally have no problem with violent/disturbing images in film,so that's not my issue with the Saw films,I just don't care for the storyline.

You don't have to defend it. You can post on whatever you want, and you can stop posting about it whenever you like.

And it isn't that I hate the movie, I don't. I think it was a very poor movie, and there's an important difference there. You can like all sorts of poor movies, and dislike very well made movies. Some of my favourite movies are very poor (like the original Transformers animated movie, which is one of my favourites, but really isn't very good), while lots of very well made movies leave me cold, because they just aren't my kind of thing.

I don't think either person is really all that well thought of, to be honest.

Mike Noble wrote:So, is the first one really worse than older horror movies? I mean, all horror series that go on forever end up getting really crappy after awhile. Did you like Friday the 13th, or the first two Halloween movies? Now compare those to the rest of the series. Saw is no different than other horror series, because they all get repetitive after just 2 or 3 movies, let alone 12 or whatever.

I don't think any of the Friday the 13th movies were ever any good. Halloween I'm not sure about, I saw that a long time ago, and would have to see it again before giving judgement.

Personally, I prefer stuff like The Shining. Then again I always preferred psychological horror movies over slasher stuff. They're more enjoyable, since they have a good plot, and are often scary in unexpected ways.

I think both kinds of movie have their appeal. Slasher films are typically more low brow, but they can be enjoyable if they're well executed and the creator knows the limitations. Scream and Wolf Creek are examples of more modern efforts, that knew the genre and executed the basic steps well, and ended up pretty good movies as a result.

Haven't talked to her in six years, and she was one of those "cool kids" that everyone wanted to be like. Me, I'm just a Super Nerd, whom even the normal nerds picked on and stole his lunch money.

There's more going on in whether or not someone is cool than just one type of media or another. If people have enough going for them (hot, got money, funny, good at cool things like sport, ability to form a social network which places them as queen bee, etc...) then they're going to be cool even if they've got one uncool thing about them. A couple of the guys at my highschool were among the cool set, despite doing something as nerdy as playing 40k.

But if you haven't got the above and you're not cool as a result, then nerdy hobbies will make you even less cool.

Well, when I facebooked her up before I got all sorts of freaky in the head, she had a bunch of pictures where all she was wearing was a sweater and underwear (while brandishing a magic wand, I might add).

never had interest in her before I saw that picture

So forget worrying about what nerd crap is more or less cool than other nerd crap, and ask her out.

Nah man, I'm too mentally unstable to ask a girl like that out, not to mention that I don't have any money, nor have I seen her in seven years, nor do I think she would be impressed with my cooking skills, nor my guitar strums, nor my.....

The most popular girl in school is typically on par with a pron star. Guys just want to yuck her and don't care about anything else.

See, that I don't know about; As some of you know, my mom was the secretary. Well, her dad was the superintendant. Her family is also very devote, I beleive, though both of those could work both ways, Teenagers being rebellious and all. Some info I don't know how to process, however, is I have heard she has.... had many "partners" and her dad has turned a blind eye to it all, lets put it that way.

However, two things make me question this: I know exactly what it's like to be thought of as given special treatment because of my mom being the secretary..... and the person who told me this was pregnant outside of marraige at the time.
