I always have a tough time deciding on a chapter to work on. I managed to narrow it down to a few that I liked but I was still left with several to choose from.

The candidates are:

Celestial Lions - like the doomed fluff; Didn't really like the way the pad turned out and not much of a future for them though without a miracle...
Space Sharks - like the paint scheme and would be good for playing the Badab War.
Crimson Tigers - DIY using Argent Tiger marking.
Warrior Adepts - like the color scheme; quartered red and blue with company color shoulder pads.
Death Knights - like the name and the knights in space concept. I've got a thing for surcoats.
Exorcists - like the fluff and coloring. I have a thing for dark reds too.

So I figured I'd try sculpting up each of the chapter's chapter markings on the shoulder pads and see how they would actually look. Take a look and help me choose by letting me know which one you think is the best of the lot.

Wow! You're really good with sculpting GS.

They all look great, but the Warrior Adepts eagle head is my personal favorite.

If you like the Exorcists fluff the most I'd say go with them cos I find that if I enjoy the fluff of something I'll be a LOT more motivated to actually paint them.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

I agree with Kantor. Exorcists and Sharks, I like.

If you choose Space Sharks, you can use the FW tyberos model for something, btw.

I quite like the Exorcists and Death Knights pads. Wanna send me the ones you don't use, I need them for my Deathwatch squad, lol. They all look amazing.

With a little bit of adjusting, the Tiger pad can be the lion pad.

AND LIONS ARE AWESOME

I would have said Sharks but unfortunately there is probably going to be a tide of them, with the new releases.

Exorcists have always been a personal favourite of mine. I mean come on a Grey Knight successor chapter AND part of the Cursed founding. What more could you ask for?

In the lion's defense, you can use these as counts-as bikes:

Just the lions. SPACE MARINES ON LIONS.

The only pad I don't really like is the lion. I think the mane needs to extend back far enough that you'd have to shrink the entire piece to fit or risk truncating the head, as was the case in this trial sculpt. Beyond that, do whatever the hell you like! Helpful, I know.

Thanks for taking time to respond!

Looks like Space Sharks won the popular vote.

But with the upcoming new release as Lennysmash mentioned, I'm going to pass. It's a bit of a downer when you spend a lot of time customizing to have official ones come out that looks so much better.

Second up are the Exorcists. Got to agree with jonolikespie that liking fluff is good for motivation. I liked the Deathwatch Exorcists character in Steve Parker's "Headhunted" story a lot. So looks like my next chapter is going to be the Exorcists!

Third was the Warrior Adepts. I rather like the way it turned out. It's my favorite pad of the lot. But the lack of fluff and the difficult quartered paint scheme probably would have become a detriment to getting an army completed in the long run. I'll do a combat squad of them sometime, just for the sake of doing them.

sonofguilliman, I'm going to be using these to learn how to do some resin casting next. If I get decent results, maybe we can do a trade

stardawn,The high elf chariot is awesome. I might have to a High Elf army sometime when I have the time.

oadie, yeah the lion design needs work. As you suggested, shrinking the whole piece to fit in more mane might be the solution. I'll probably give it another try later for practice.

Thanks again everyone!

I'm pretty much in love with that shark shoulder. But then, I think sharks (as in, real ones) are awesome, so I my opinion is not entirely trustworthy.
