What do you think is the real life equivalent of the eye of terror/Cadian Gate?
I say its the North Korean/South Korean border
daemonic incursion=the many border skirmishes that occur along various areas
and some other stuff

...I don't think the two are really compatible. And when you start equating the people of North Korea with forces of diabolical evil that's dangerous.
However, your username is wonderfully apt for this discussion.

The two really aren't comparable. NK actually has a chance of inflicting damage on the outside world, unlike Abaddon.

OP, what are you smoking?
Obviously the Eye of Terror is "inspired" (if you can call it that) from that dimensional warp-gate on Mars that all those demons pour through. I mean, we send like 10,000 American soldiers there every year.
Seriously man, read the news.

I would say the nearest equivalent to the Cadian Gate is the door to my local Ikea store.
The girlfriend keeps trying to lure me into entering, with promises of rich reward and cool contemporary furniture solutions, but I know I will be trapped within, forced to walk the daemonic flatpack labyrinth, making witty banter about laminate pine, sharing my haunted, empty gaze with other lost souls forced to push the trolley, until I claw my way back into daylight at the other end.
The horror.. the horror...

There is no modern day equivalent today; but in the past, there were key areas that armies would have to go through. As a tactical strategy, a fortress would resurrected there, knowing that the enemies full force would have to pass through there.
We need a history buff because I can't think of a specific example.
