To go along with my old thread that was pretty popular ([urlhttp://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/317042.page]Son I am disapoint[/url]) I figured I would make another thread about those video game characters that just freak you out. We all know about Pyramid Head and Alma, but what about others? I'm told Legion from Castlevania freaks a fair few people out.
What with the ressurection of the THIEF series, I remember just how much the Grey Lady freaked me out way back when. This was of course before I started playing FEAR, Dead Space, Resident Evil, Bioshock, and all them, so I just might have to give the game another go to see if she still scares me, but meh.
What about you guys?
I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.
Oh man... there was this game called Echo Night and it had the freakiest little ghost girl... she would shoot spirits at you and those freaked me out... I would literally shiver when she would appear.
In ME2 Overlord DLC the Rogue VI is pretty startling, especially when it makes it first appearance.
Also in general the Thief series is pretty creepy.

Im going to say every-freaking-thing that tries to maul you in Metro 2033. Its the first frightening game that ive played.... no wait that damn grizzly in Condemned 2 Bloodshot, damn thing rips your jugular out when it catches you
I find the G-man more mysterious than creepy. The zombies in HL2 are however quite creepy especially when you light them on fire, they make those horrible sounds. And the quick spindly legged versions are the worst.

G-Man reminds me of my uncle...
The creepiest character I've dealt with would have to be the iron maidens from resident evil 4.
That's the scissor man (don't know real name) from the Clocktower series if I'm not mistaken. He would repeatedly antagonize you throughout the game.

For a kids game, Tom Nook is a particularly cruel character. He practically enslaves you at the very start of the game, renovates your house while you sleep in it, and some how randomly spawns twins by by himself. By the time you're free of him, theres nothing left to do in your town, and your characters doomed to the existential nihilistic hell that is *insert town name here*
I'd go with naughty bear from, ta-dah you guessed it, naughty bear. The little bear is way to cuddly looking and fluffy to become a serial killer. Eww, the fluffines just gives me shivers.
The Rout, Vlka Fenryka, Warrior Kings of Fenris.... the Space Wolves. Horus Heresy. Sixth Great Company. 1500pts. In progress.

And theres your answer. Those games were pretty freaky when they came out. Dunno how they would stack up to modern games. MAybe you can find an emulator on google

Pretty horny fella...
I'd have to say the re-dead from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I first played it when I was about 6-7 and they terrified the gak out of me.
Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.
Excerpt from "Seeress of Kell", Book Five of The Malloreon series by David Eddings.
"You need not fear us, unless you are a dark heart, a vile one who preys on the innocent; I promise, you can’t hide forever in the empty darkness, for we will hunt you down like the animals you are, and pull you into the very bowels of hell." Iron - Within Temptation
Oh man how did I forget re-dead. made me not want to play Zelda for a while.
Also I would like to throw out that just about every underwater enemy has potential for terror. The shark from bajo Kazooie and the eel from Mario64 come to mind....oh god that eel :(

Also, Hydrus, The Seventh Colossus:
And while we are at it: Malus, the Sixteenth Colossus:
I really wish I hadn't sold that game now :( Might have to Bargain Bin it.

It's one of those games that you play once and then never forget. You only play it once because it's a puzzle game; you figure it out once and you can basically walk through it blindfolded the second time. You never forget it because you were killing Titans long before Kratos came to power.
