This thread made me smile, because it brought a childhood memory into my head, and I looked for the cover on google so some of you younger guys can see it and share in my awe at such a wonderful cover.
I saw this comic when I first went to a comic shop with my dad, I saw some cartoons on TV and I asked my dad if he knew any comic chops and he told me there was one in a building down town and we got the bus down. It had a powerful effect on me when I first saw it cos I think I was about 6. I never forgot about the day, or this comic.
Heres why I like Hulk the best.
We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.
I have a lot of characters I like, and I did ponder if there was anyone else is above him for me, even though I'll probably be one of many who'd rate him as their fave, but there isn't.
I can't think of many stories he's been in I didn't enjoy. He is pretty much the X-men as far as I'm concerned, he's always been an active member whenever I've been collecting it, often in some kind of leadership role, and I always prefered him over Cyclops in that role.
Just a character I enjoy, and the interaction between him and Creed in particular through out the comics has always been a high light for me.
Althought the following are pretty damned close.
Love the humour he has in the comic, always had great villians and in general and I've always liked the storylines.
Love her in the comics, hated her in the movies. No character was more badly covered in the three films as far as I was concerned, well maybe making Collosus american. My first X-men comics where when the Reavers attacked the X-men and they had to go through the Siege Perilous, was a fan of Rogue since then. Just a great character in my eyes.
My fave comic line is X-men, and all the associated comics, so Magneto to me is just an awesome villian, always liked his 'Mutants come first' anti-point to Charles, and has been involved with some epic storylines over the years.
Also going to add a +1 to Batman, its the only DC character I've ever read comics from, not sure why I've not tried others, maybe it was the movies, but regardless just a great character, with villians who make the comic and character what it is, more so than the hero to some degree.

Batman is certainly among the most intersting. The exploration of his character is some of the best stuff out there.
I mean, look ar Rorschac, who is incredibly intersesting: he's basically a "realistic" batman. (or one version of a realistic Batman along with Nite Owl II and Ozymandius) But Rorschac really shows what a person with Batman's determination would probably look like. Which raises the question if perhaps mental toughness and stability is really Batman's superpower...
In europe we don't really have a comic culture like you guys....the most I know are from movies/televisin shows. So i don't know all, or know everything about them. If i had to choose it would be:
A second one would be superman not the comic saint version, but the 'smallville' one.... it never says he's superman, but we all know

I never really understood the criticism that Superman was 'too good' or a saint. He really isn't. He tries to be lawful good, so to speak, but he isn't perfect and many storylines have dealt with just such a thing. It is much more difficult to try and be a leader and uphold noble ideals through action than to just be an angry ball of rage like Wolverine. It also means it is easier to make bad stories though so there are some real stinkers. Done right Superman is still one of the most complex and multifaceted heroes out there. His battles are more internal becuase, well, he can lift aircraft carriers and stuff.
Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

I really can't agree with this at all, but that's because I read Rawshark as a critique of objectivism more than anything else.
Well, he's based on the Answer, who was actually an objectivist superhero. I think Rorshach is too clearly insane to be much of a critique of any real ideology. His "black/white" world view is more flesh out than Batman's, to include a fringie right wing element, but his role is to show what a person that really believes in absolutes would come to.
The Scott Free version, especially in conjunction with his wife Barda. I really enjoyed his series during the JLI era, with him and his wife just trying to settle down and live a normal life in New Hampshire. Frankly he, and the entire News Gods cast of characters deserved a lot better than they got, I hope that Grant Morrison gets a chance to fix them -- he writes awesome New God stuff.
Always liked the character, especially back in his elemental version/days -- Ostrander and Mandrake were a great team -- always were their Spectre work was jaw dropping.
Bit bemused by some of the events of the last few years for him, glad to see "Brightest Day" doing something with the character again.
Big soft spots for the Martian Manhunter, Green Arrow, The (original run) New Warriors and Zatanna too.
Oh, and pretty much anything written by Morrison I guess.
The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

And whilst you're pointing and shouting at the boogeyman in the corner, you're missing the burglar coming in through the window.
Well, Duh! Because they had a giant Mining ship. If you had a giant mining ship you would drill holes in everything too, before you'd destory it with a black hole
