I have noticed several people mention here and there that they also play D&D here on Dakka - so I invite you to post your character! Their level, stats, all the relevant information. As always, I shall start. Note little details (which I will add in).

Further Information (Additional Special rules or information on the character)
Backstory: Aliza Cornet was born on the 27th day of the month of Nightal. Her mother was a teacher in the small village of about 50 people where she was born, called Holden. Her father served as captain of the guard. Her life was uneventful for 10 years in the peaceful village - until one day a man appeared in the village. He seemed like an ordinary traveller who decided to stay for a few days. Aliza did note that he had something special about him - a tattoo of a skull on the back of his head. She had noticed it one day when his red cloak had slipped and was not covering his head. He was bald, she also noted, and even had no eyebrows. Soon after, the villagers began to bicker and argue among themselves. They divided into two factions and eventually there was a day where a villager was killed. Soon after, a virtual civil war began, Finally, a day came where the two sides fought each other in an actual melee. Her father had built her a small shelter, which she and the other children all hid in. For about an hour they all waited inside, and when the sounds of killing stopped outside, they decided to come out for a look. Aliza could see that the side with her parents had won - and that both her parents were still alive! The adults gathered in the center circle while the kids remained by the shelter. Aliza noticed the strange man standing atop their watchtower - she thought she could him shoot a little star out of his hands - a tiny, shining star - before it hit right in the center of town and incinerated everyone in the area. Horrified, Aliza and the other children ran into the shelter and waited.
She hid in the shelter with the other children, all of them too afraid to act. The man had gone through the town, killing what adults had still remained. When he entered the shelter, he saw the children all cowering. He stood there for a few moments before leaving without doing anything or saying a word. Later that day, an elderly man she knows as Galen came along and discovered all of them. He brought them to a college where they train people to become wizards. Aliza knew this was her chance! She would be able to bring about justice to the man who caused all the problems for her village - the man who killed her parents. She would fight for goodness and virtue and justice, like in the stories her father had told her at night.
Her training began with Galen and she quickly grasped the basics of spellcasting with her amazing intellect. She became obsessed with how magic worked - often staying late after class to ask her instructor questions, reading books whenever she could, and sometimes sneaking into the school's library after night had fallen, even though it was against the rules. To that end, she decided to specialize in the school of Abjuration - the school that interacted with magic the most. She found herself less interested in the ideals of other schools, and quickly realized she had a distaste for two things - the domain of unlife was one that did not appeal to her, and also spells that manipulated the mind. She assumed the man that killed her parents had used some sort of mind trick to make all the adults fight one another.
As the years passed, Aliza lost sight of her ideals of goodness and justice. She became, like most wizards, uninterested, and simply interested in perfecting her art of spellcasting. When she graduated from the College of Arcane Training (CAT) in the Dalelands, she was the top of her class by a mile - winning every contest, official or not, with her fellow students - making the best grades on every exam, both written and practical - and proving that she was the best among her peers, and even better than some of the instructors! Three children about her age from the village also graduated - Tom Izzo, who was a year older than her, William Jones, who was her age, and Emma Smith, who was 2 years younger.
She left the CAT with only the gold and equipment given to all graduates from the college. She still had the gloves from her mother, and the necklace from her father, and an unyielding desire to perfect arcane magic. She remember as clear as the day it happened the face of the man that robbed her of her parents. She vowed, one day, to claim revenge.
What about you guys? Let's hear it!

I'll keep the fluff short to avoid boring people.
Current active characters:
Sir Nikolos of Skyros
L18 Human Fighter, Iron Vanguard paragon path, fights sword & board with scale.
Nikolos is very Greek-marathon-runner/Spartan inspired. He was a legionary in the campaign's Roman Empire-equivalent, and was sentenced to slavery for a crime he committed. This is where he met the party, as they were slaves taken from another land (that was the beginning of the campaign). After escaping from captivity, they made their way to another land and have been accumulating wealth and power, with Nikolos having recently bought a title. He is pragmatic but usually positive, having made good after his downfall.
Built for super durability plus mobility- has Run, Scale Armor Specialization (gets rid of the -1spd), and Martial Freedom. also multiclassed into Warlord for more leadership and healing abilities. Primary weapon is "Reign", a +4 Giant Bane Longsword. Recently also acquired titan-forged +4 Stormscale armor, with the Dwarven property, as part of his spoils for a misadventure waking a Titan. Which looks to be the likely source of much future trouble, probably being a main antagonist for us as we head toward/into the Epic tier. Will probably go Demigod for an Epic destiny, as that very much fits the Greek Hero theme.
Kul the Killer
L11 Revenant (Goliath) Fighter, Avenging Haunt paragon.
Battlerager build, fights with a +2 Crashing (can also use it as a magical thrown weapon and knock people prone) Mordenkrad (giant two-handed hammer) in chain mail. A gigantic wall of a zombie warrior, he mashes and bashes opponents while shrugging off damage (Battlerager temporary HP in this case not representing a berserker rage, but rather undead durability).
Kul is built for even MORE stamina, plus funky undead tricks. He's also trained in Arcana and Ritual Casting, as he is seeking a cure or release from his condition. This character is from an evil/antiheros campaign. All the PCs are magically-compelled slaves of an evil wizard/necromancer/lich/we're-not-quite-sure-what called alternately "The Revenant" or just "Master". Kul has served him for the longest of any of the party, and once tried to free himself by getting himself killed. Only the master just raised him as an intelligent zombie-thing (hence the race, Revenant), and he's STILL suck serving that bastard. Kul is sardonic and fatalistic; he alternates between being a soulless killer and looking for a way out in those moments when he thinks he sees some hope; usually if some magical thing the Master sends us for looks like it might be able to help us. No joy yet.
Skander
L3 Elf Swordmage, Aegis of Ensnarement
Fights with a longsword in leather armor, with multiple teleportation-type abilities and damaging magical effects channeled through his sword, a recently-found +1 metal longsword called "Psyche's Zephyr".
Skander is from a Dark Sun campaign (yes, Swordmages aren't normally Dark Sun, but go with it). So as an elf he's from a tribe of desert raiders and nomads trusted about as much as gypsies were historically in our world. Being an arcane caster, he's even more sneaky and secretive than most. But he is a Preserver, as well as a direct protector of nature- he's also a Primal Guardian. Being an Elf and needing to keep his arcane abilities hidden, he is a skilled liar (trained in Bluff) and adept at disguishing his spells to look like Psionic or Primal effects.

I'm not playing any at the moment, but I'll put up some stuff from some of my old characters.
William Stimmyworth the 4th - Jobbing Necromancer
Age: 29 Level :1-14 Race: Human Home: Sigil Lower Ward"
Class: Wizard Specialisation: Dehibilitating Necromancy
Height: 5' 8", Build: Slight, Eyes: Brown Hair: Brown, Appearance: Ratty and bedraggled.
Familiar: Ferret the ferret. Faction: The Free League.
Backstory: William started his magical career shortly after fleeing his family home to become a Light Boy on Sigil's gloomy streets. He found he had a knack for manipulating the magical energies of his light stick. He was taken on as an apprentice by an elderly wizard after a particularly impressive feat of navigation, and learned the craft of wizardry. William proved a fairly adept student. However, when his master died of Pit Fiend, Willy was left to make his own way in the world, and took to jobbing wizardry. A cheerful, kind hearted soul, necromancy might have seemed an odd choice. Willy joined up with a group of cutters and berks investigating a plague in the Hive, and ended up on a long and hair raising adventure that saw him killed (twice) and raised again, diminishing his respect for the sanctity of life, as well as becoming gradually frustrated with the inaction of the powerful denizens of the upper planes. A stint in the Abyss did nothing to improve his increasingly gloomy outlook, however all the time he was voraciously collecting magical lore and power (from some fairly dubious places). William's breaking point came when his own faction, infiltrated by Anarchists, turned on him, and he unleashed a firestorm of necromantic energy, raising his slain foes as Undead to supress the rioting free leaguers. It was the start of a slide into madness and evil that ended with William faking his own death to escape the attention of his former comrades, to continue his plots to bring order to Sigil.

All 4e for me now:
(Homebrew)L13 Kraloq Earthsmasher - 1/2 Orc Warden, enlightened and the leader of his tribe he was summoned to the astral library to complete a quest to find the Codex Necron with several other fated ones. He hopes to return to his world and continue uniting the tribes against the evil necromancer led human empire that threatens his growing tribe & kingdom
(Dark Sun) L4 Valána - Elf Swarm Druid. Actually a sentient bug swarm that happens to look like an elf? None can tell. All that the other PCs know is that 'she' refers to herself as 'we' and that the party are her hive-kin.
(Faerun - pre Spellplague) Darius L10Shadar-Kai (a Shade descendant essentially) Swordmage. Seeking to become Umbriri and find forbidden secrets in the name of Shar, he seeks to further his own position and power within Netheril. However he is not your typical capricious evil, having a wife and child as well as family he is indeed loyal and honourable - but only to some. Having infiltrated a mummy lord's trading company in Mulholorand in order to find what artefacts and secrets the Mummy had he joined the Party when they defeated the mummy lord at the request of the God-King. He is now traveling with the party who are seeking an ancient cornupica style artifact, Netherese in origin but gifted to the people of Mulholorand a millennia ago. They hope to use it to aid the poor and diseased people whom the God-King cannot help. However he suspects that there are people working against them from within the God-Kings court.
The party value him for his obfuscating and defensive style of magic (ie he's a defender!) as well as his local knowledge of Mulholorand as well as his arcane abilities.

Okay, sure. Here's my favorite for 4th.
Xertavlex (don't steal my name! )
6'3''
190 lbs
Blonde Hair
Is curiously lacking a belly button and nipples, yet has genitalia
Level 24 Fighter...... Something like 43 AC... I can't remember. That might be too low. Multiclasses in Ranger
Has a bunch of special wargear options....
Phantom Cloak- prevents the wearer from triggering opportunity attacks (Pretty OP, but our group gives everyone one of these at level 18 from some illegal smuggler, IIRC)
Some sword that deals an extra 3d10 against dragons
He's a human, but he was blessed by this demigod character, so is sort of god-like. He takes significantly less damage from necrotic stuff, and his bloodied value is less.

Three of the more interesting characters: Azram Stormbringer: Half dragon, half dwarf sorcerer that was raised by elves. Loves to burn things and shoot lightning at things. Chaotic Neutral. Is easily swayed to do good or evil based on entertainment value or a supply of Ale. Will occasionally be pushed to acts of violence by his long dead 'mother'. Has killed party members for entertainment (Paladin was dragged into a lake which he threw lightning bolts at) Anion: Dwarf ranger. Alignment varies. Character is insane, carries around a swordfish on his back (notably larger than he is). Once ran around a ship yelling that the Kraken was coming to eat him and curled up in the fetal position in the quarters; when the captain tried to ask why he thought this he merely yelled , "AAAAAAAHH!" in the captains face before sobbing hysterically. Also randomly started river dancing on a ferry, and is known for attacking inanimate objects that he thinks are stalking him. Name not remembered: Dwarf Warrior. Depressive and hates people. Is stirred to anger quite easily after his parents were killed and goes after any orc or half orc without hesitation, regardless as to whether the individual was threatening or not. Is attached to a special army unit after being offered his salary in Whiskey.

Other characters who weren't as long running:
Gaius Seneca - Human Athasian Bard (Darksun setting- sneaky bard with no magic but lots of crime/poisoning/social stuff).
Neutral evil leader of a party of neutral and good people. Lead through bluff and charisma, and being *such a nice guy*.
Wasn't played to screw over the party, but rather, made the "hard choices" to keep the group alive (it was in his interest after all) and hid the nasty results from his friends.
Sal: Lizardfolk Druid in the Ptolus setting. Came to the city to ensure his folk's spiritual integrity was preserved. I had lots of fun building a pantheon of spirits for him to "talk" to, and negotiate spells- so if he wanted combat buffs, he's make a deal with Grrochu, the spirit of blood and bone, whereas light or fire spells came from Halach, the sun spirit. Lots of fun. Also did a Caribeann accent and broken english for the character, which was pretty memorable at times.
Scrak the Goblin Prince: A goblin Ranger/Rogue I played in an ebberon game. Great fun. His entire ideology was based around debt and ownership. If he saved your life, he considered you in his debt, possibly property. But if you saved his, then he was in your debt. Great fun to play and resulted in a lot of humour, though he was a deadpan serious character.

Akazi 20 Dragonborn Warlord (Bravura, Lord of Fortune)
- Oldest 4e Character I have. Runs around with a Great Spear stabbing things but mostly tells others what to do. Once jumped of a tower to try and impale a Liche at the bottom, missed with the spear but landed on the Liche. Almost everything is based on giving everyone else free attacks. Does a lot of intimidating.
Brick Largehuge 8 Human Rogue (Brutal)
- Carries around a cursed sword that won't let him stay in one place more than 48 hours or it starts to wrack his body with pain. Needless to say he is always on the move. If he can have a child the curse passes on the his kid when he turns 18 so he constantly is hitting on women, but due to a low charisma hilarity ensues instead of sexy time.
Jhinto 1 Kobold Samurai (Two Weapon Fighter)
- Did you read what he is? Nuff' said.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

Sadistic Inquisitorial Excruciator
|
Level 14 Wizard/Pale Master Gnoll personally.
Fluff summarised is that he was raised by a morbid tribe of humans whom lived near a forgotten necropolis; thus providing power over death. He still retains a Gnollish stubbornness; he also is difficult in interacting with the rest of the party...leading to amusing situations (Note to self: never share an inn room with a Gnoll. The mess...)

I had a female Drow Scout a number of years back, that was probably the only time I got to play D&D as a Player.
She was fun from what I remember, I seem to remember she was fascinated with nature after coming to the surface.
She interrupted a Druid rite, by getting nekkid and joing in with the dancing, that was quite funny. Especially when the coven freaked due to the sudden appearance of a nekkid Drow in their dancing circle.

|
Currently playing a Dwarf Wrath Invoker, Alfir Rolandson*. One of my buddies is running the Scales of War published modules.
Alfir firmly believes himself to be an instrument in preventing or at least surviving the coming apocalypse (not part of the DM's plans). Also to the great consternation of the rest of the party, he speaks with and hears the voices of all the gods. Even the dodgy halfling thief got a little twitchy when I asked Vecna to keep us safe and hidden during a key rest while in the enemy's stronghold.
Before Alfir, I was DM'ing our first game in 4E, so haven't had a lot of play time in it. The NPC that I played for that game was Stefan, a Human Pursuit Avenger / Forget the Paragon / Godslayer who was a devotee of the Queen of Night and wielded the twin blades named Murder. That game was a 1-30 run for our group's first 4E and ended up heavily drawing from the last longterm campaign we had in 3.5 and ended in a massive Deity reset. By force .
* I have a tradition of playing 'Roland's. It goes back to a campaign quite a few years ago where I played an Eternal Champion and now I'm stuck.

Drevin Anabane - Level 9 Changeling Beguiler (Ebberon)
Only one other person in the party knows he's a Changeling. I actually concealed him out of game as a bard for the first 10 sessions or so that we'd played just to throw people off. Has worked for a organization opposing the Blood of Vol. Fights with a spiked chain. Gave up the work after his son was born and now lives in Sharn doing detective work. Has a nasty habit of being the "gadgeteer", that is to say, I've spent roughly 70% of my money on single use items. Considered by the other players (in game and out) to be the most useless character for the enemy I hand picked. The reason for this is because I, in my infinite wisdom, chose Blood of Vol as a major force I was working against in my backstory, yet I had picked the class and weapon possibly worst suited for fighting undead. I've earned the nickname Tripmaster because anything I can't hit with enchantment I have to furiously trip over and over again until the rest of the party can deal with it. First game session, I held off some ghouls that were attacking us by tripping them and running until the rest of the party had their paralysis wear off.

I usually DM D&D Campaigns, but when I do play a character, I always Play Luke Matoc, Human Fighter, Highest he has ever goten is level 6. I always play 3.5E, cause I don't really like 4E very much.

Stalwart Veteran Guard Sergeant

The PC that I currently want to play would be Therenogi Lelathnon, Elven Glade Runner (Fighter with Ranger multiclass). I like him because its a "light fighter" that capitalizes on mobility to compliment another, "heavier" defender.
Plus, the concept of a "glade runners" allows me to play a rangery character while filling a role other than striker.

"I went into a hobby-shop to play m'self a game,
The 'ouse Guru 'e up an' sez "The Guard is weak and lame!"
The Chaos gits around the shelves they laughed and snickered in my face,
I outs into the street again an' grabbed my figure-case."
Oh it's "Angels this" an' "Space-wolves that", and "Guardsmen, go away!";
But it's "Thank you for the ordnance" when the Guard begins to play,
O it's "LOOK AT ALL THE ORDNANCE!" when the Guard begins to play.."

I don't actually play at the moment, but if I do find a game as a player, I will use this character:
Name: Nolar Wispbane
Race and Class: Half-elf Bard
Virtue of Valor
Order of ablity scores: Charisma, Constitution, Dexterity, Intelligence, Wisdom, Strength.
Background: Nolar grew up in a large city (urban), there was a variety of ages in the city, many of which seemed so old they should be spirits. He descended from a rich family, who tret him well throughout his life, or so he claims (Rich). Every year on his birthday, he fell into a deep slumber and awoke the next day in the middle of a ravine. The remains of city life, banners, litter and so on, would be around Nolar. As if the city had moved. The first few times Nolar wondered aimlessly for the day until he fell asleep again. Nobody believed his story, and said he was dreaming. According to his family he slept through the day safe in his bed. When he turned 18, the same as usual happened, but Nolar's home city never reappeared (on another plane). He was forced to find a new home, and try and forget his past life. He'd never left te city before, and no outsider had ever been in. Nolar arrived in the city of [insert main city of current campaign here] after a few days, where he became a bard and lived on the streets for several years (entertainer), he sang tales of his city and its mysterious happenings. He became quite rich, and this is the way it stayed until a greater duty called.
Song lyrics (And I intend to sing them all awfully should I find a group willing ti listen )
Song of rest chorus:
Song of reeest, oh song of rest. It's in the wounded's best interest to listen to the song of rest. Oh song of reeest, oh song of rest. Listen to the song of rest and we'll get your wounds all properly dressed.
War song strike:
As the wind howls and warriors fall, 5 bold heroes stand proud and tall.
Slayers song:
I'll smash and slash and push you back! I'll hit you hard where skill you lack! And yes this pain goes on and on, this is my foe the slayers song.
Appearance: Nolar is quite short, with deep purple eyes. He is slim and rather attractive. His muscles are rather large but hide under seemingly harmless and soft skin.
Opinions: Nolar doesn't believe in killing any creature, even if they meen him harm. This naturally makes him a vegetarian. If involved in a fight, he vows only ever to knock out an enemy, and never to slaughter. A way with words provides Nolar with the means to be able to charm his enemies and negotiate well to get past potential obstacles. Nolar doesn't believe in a deity or god, he strongly argues that arcane might and natural remedies triumph over holy magic.
Hope I didn

Dont have the character sheet anymore, but in one campaign I was in... This probly wont be 100% accurate.
Venerable Gnome (287 years old)
1monk
6druid
13 master of many forms
Full wild armor (the stuff that shifts with you)
Insane wisdom.
Pretty much if I shifted to the proper creature I had like 100+ AC.... Had a DM guide thrown at me for that character, he was a beast...
Best moment ever... We were being chased by a T-rex, I suddenly stopped and the DM had me eaten... When he asked what my plan for getting out was... "I shift into a lava elemental"
I tried 4th edition but really couldnt get into it. While its easier for new players then 3.5, there is a lot less customization.

Combining the aging penalties with Druid is pretty filthy, Shivan. I'd have disallowed it.
