As soon as I heard that GW was releasing a new GK army with plastic models I began making preparations to sell off my Space Maine army, that I just started rebuilding, to pay for a Grey Knights army. My first army was Deamonhunters and I loved their rules but just got so frustrated with them at the time due to the limited range of the models and I couldn't afford to build a well rounded army, being a high school student. So, I dropped them and went to SM because it offered a wider variety options and it was much cheaper to build a decent fighting force.

Anyway, who's getting on the bandwagon with me and why?

Please don't turn this into a thread of everything you think is wrong/don't like about the new codex.

I'm "jumping the wagon" as in "Yay, I can use my Grey Knights again!". Even though my Templars have always been my favourite army, my Grey Knights have always been so asthetically appealing, and now I can finally field them without either eating a substantial amount of my Templar's points or using the boring, UP 3rd ed. Codex!

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

I've been waiting to play them for years, always wanted to play the opposite of my beloved chaos marines!

Ordered the army first day I could, having gotten a sneak peek at the dex from our wonderful local store (on condition i bought things from them, clever gits ) FT to put together a simple beat stick army (entirely in your face, but I play Khorne bezerkers so thats no surprise ) that should be fun to play and, more importantly, put together and paint

My Grey Knights have always been my favourite army, and my first. I'm using the new release as an excuse to overhaul my entire army, including repainting the majority of my Grey Knights.

I won't be running a GK army, but i will definately pick up some models for templar conversions. Come on, who wants to see a crusader squad 20 strong where every model has a sword in each hand ?

I don't usually jump on the bandwagon, hell my last two armies I bought were Necron and Dark Eldar from when they were first released, but the GK have interested me since seeing the new models and art work. Got my codex and Draigo yesterday on pre release and found the fluff and rules were much to my liking.
Definitely gonna get a new army of these guys.

Btw...

What's the general consensus of Falchions on Paladins? They seem a bit too good to not have every Paladin with them.

This is where I am at. CSM were my first army and I have for the most part stayed away from SM otherwise, but I can't pass up the opportunity to play the almost direct opposing force from my beloved CSM.

Dammit Liam, that link is the most confusing piece of reading I've ever seen. It doesn't give me a definite answer. Never seen anything so split before.

I'm not going to give my opinion on that subject as it'll just open another can of worms all over again.

I definatly will be picking up the Crusader model (with the hood), but other than that, notta.

I think I got a friend willing to try them, however.

Probably work

Does it count as giving in and going Grey Knights if you already have 3000 points of pewter ones?

I'm afraid that it, in the eyes of the ignorant, does.

I'm thinking about using my Chaos as a proxy Grey Knight army.

Daemons as Inquisitorial Henchmen
Defiler as a Dreadknight

oooh it's going to be fun .. and confusing

I have about half a metal GK army and this is my excuse to finish it off. Used to be more, but when I started playing BA I re painted the dreads and LR for them so I think my GK will be almost all troops and maybe no armour. Plan on using a dreadknight.

I have 5000 Pts of the original army considering I have about 20 of the Pewter terminators and six full squads of the old pewter ones... but yeah, I'm jumping the band wagon because it's the only army I'll have time to completely paint quick. It reminds me of my Ogre army, quick and out the gate to play.

Pure Knights here I come.. although it saddens me to not use my old models. The new ones are great and my store got them in for me yesterday, just haven't been able to pick them up yet.

If so, am on the wagon.

Falchions - they give you 2A, RAW and arguably fluff. Afgter 22 pages noone was able to come up with a counter argument that took more than a glance to knock over.

Nos - I agree... By sheer definition and clarity of the rules they give +2 Attacks. It's not Rocket Science.

5 attacks per terminator on a charge??? Yes Please

I done the opposite and jumped OFF the bandwagon. I waited months for the GK codex, only to find out how stupid it is. I'm now playing Chaos.

I'm in it for the long haul.

So what if my codex became cheese? it's time i got some payback(see sig for details)

The thousand whispers of Tzeentch welcome you, fallen brother!

In Boxing matches, you actually get paid to take a dive and make the other guy look good.

In Warhammer 40K, you're expected to pay cash out of your pocket for the privilege of having Marines and IG trample all over your Xenos/Chaos.

I've been playing Grey Knights for at least a year, and I'll keep playing them after this codex gets released. Probably going to have to proxy some things for a while, though. Being a high school student isn't going to leave me much to buy new plastics with aside from a couple boxes, so I'll be stuck with my 1850 points of pewter power armored Purifiers and whatever else I can scrabble together.

I am already there as a Chaos (of the marine variety) player. So this gives me an alter ego to play as.

Actually, it was the call of the dark gods, and the contempt to punish the weak and cowardly. (I play Iron Warriors )

I am planning on doing pretty much this. Terminator troops, Dreadknights, Terminator HQ, and Terminator elites. I am however planning on a purgation squad for heavy support.
