SO my friends and I are building and buying our armies for a 180,000 point Apocalypse game later this year. This game will last likely almost a full week and we be held in our barracks since all but 1 of the players is in the Navy. The players are set at this time to be:

UPDATE 5-02:
I have updated the first post with some changes on the board and the set up. Any Ideas please voice them.

PAST UPDATE 4-28:
We have a switch in the set up. My firned that instigated this amazing game has decided to play Tau. We have designed a Tau Titan that rivals a Warlord Titan in fire power but not as tough. We are expecting to have 4 of these 2 per Tau player. A Manta is also expected to be in play at some time.

Defenders:
25,000 points each

C: Space Marines Vulkan's Dragons
C: BA Blood Falcons
(My chapter!)
Loose Alliance Allies 20,625 points each
C: Tau Fire Hidden Moon Cadre (Experimental Cadre
C: Tau Unknown Cadre

Attackers:
18,750 points each

C:Orks Deathskulls
C: Orks Unknown Clan (name in progress)
C: Orks Unknown Clan (name in progress)

Random Apperances
16,250 points each

C: Tyranids (Hive Fleet Wraith)
C: Dark Eldar Unknown Cabal

I will be video taping the battle in its entirety. Not only that I will have a slide show for the most memorable parts that will likely involve multiple parts and will be posted on Youtube.

We will be using the barracks back in Lemoore CA, the table set up includes 1 8'x8' board connected by 4 6'x8' that will have a mix of buildings, burned out skycrapers, The Space Marines will be defending against the orcs, tyranids, and a band of Fast Raiding Dark Eldar with a lot of flyers!.

The 2 diffrent sized tables that connect to the 8' box table will be where the orks come from, They will be using the infinite numbers rules for their "Da Green Tide" and Stompas (T_T) There will be a highway and city surrounding the 2 tables. The 8'x3' will have a highway about 8"-10" wide and the 8'x4' will have a 18"-20" Highway. As stated there will be city surrounding the highways and leading up to the fortress. There will be an invisible ocean on one most open side of the wider table and the rest is surrounded by mountain.

There will be a surprise visit from Tyranids with some special cooked up monstrosities

There will be a Fortress that is the focal point for the xenos attack. I will be commanding my Blood Falcons which are the Blood Angels. I plan on using 2 Thunderhawk Gunships (if possible due to the price I will likely only get 1 from forgeworld), 2 Warhounds, and a single Reaver titan. I will have about 400 models and be commanding the smaller of the 3 groups but that is made up by sheer weight of firepower from my Armoured units including a Custom Baal Predator that was created for this very game. They are like normal Baal Preds but get the use of Plasma Cannon Sponsons that replace the Heavy Flamers.

My other friend will be commanding the Vulkan's Dragons which is a friendly Chapter towards my own.

As it stands this game will likely go on for 10 turns in which we as the defenders will have to hold out and protect the Fortress.

The battle is going to be immense and I am hopping for it to be a little like Rynn's World storyfrom Black Library. Not so one sided of cource but the Orks are getting some kustom vehicles like the K-1 Pain Supa Landa (super heavy Flyer Transport) which carries 102 Orks big enough for a bare minimum "Da Green Tide" and the AK-1 Pain which is a super Heavy flyer that is made to take out titans. Lots of model building will commence in a few months!

We plan on adding some hilarity to the K-1 "Supa Landa", it will be able to do a Parwatruper Drop like the C:IG Valks but for the beauty of video purposes we will be creating some high riser clear bases for the drop squads so that we can take images of them "slowly decending"

If you wish to support this endevour with models for any of these factions the Swap Shop:

Give us an update on who won in 20 years. Biggest Apocalypse Games I've heard of was 20,000 on each side.

Do the players own models already? I'm guessing yes! This is going to be pretty incredible. The best way to handle a game this huge is to be ready for anything. If you have a place that the game can stay set up, that would be the best. Sometimes they run long, but I can't think of any cooler campaign than a continuing game of APOC!

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

Nice!

The biggest game I've played in took a weekend and involved 18 players - pure Imperium on one side and pure Tyranids on the other. I'd like to see how having fewer players affects the game - less people to coordinate but OTOH less hands to move models!

Jeez, 165,000 points? Have you checked the record for largest game of Warhammer 40k, I think thats probably up there in the list. That game promises to be truly apocalyptic in scale. That definatly needs to be youtubed.

How much time do you have budgeted for this thing?

When people are managing "only" 4-5k pts a side games tend to take 5 or more hours.

It might be pretty close on a points per capita basis, though. Most of those 200k-300k games have open enrollment and player pools dozens deep.

This would blow those away from a points per person standpoint.

Edit: It'd be even more remarkable if they were all GW models. Inevitably in those big games there's a fair amount of padding with Warlord titans, etc, which often don't look that great from a modeling execution standpoint.

I want to know more about the Random Appearance of the Tyranids. Does that mean they ally with one of the sides at random? Or come in on a random turn?

The Tyranids come in randomly as if they were on their way orginally. How it works out is that the Terra Wolves were traped with a Waagh of Orks in a single system due to a Warp Storm that had lasted since prior to the Horus Heresy Though as we all know time in the warp is skewed a bit and so the Terra Wolves fought for only 1,000 years holding back the tides of Orks time and time again thanks to the Forge World that they occupied.

Realize that this is close to the Ghoul Stars. So the Tyranid incursion is close at hand. Due to this the Tyranids are droping into the battlefield at turn 3 or so (might be a random roll. . . ) and get to create chaos as they please. They will have unlimited numbers for the lil guys and will be limited to the amount of replacement Monstrous Creatures that the player gets.

As I have stated this game will be between 8 players. I am not sure but there are other apoc games that beat this easy but as it has been stated they have dozens of players.

so the Nids are a 3rd party so when they show up, its effectivly a 3 way fight?

will the nids get their own turn between the other player turns or will they be lumped in with one side?

I have not decided. . . to make it easier we might decide to let them have their own turn. . . bad thing is that they will get hammered twice prior to their turn. . . We might give them a turn with the orks. . . they still get hammered from both sides either way. . . then again it depends on how they play out.

We are thinking of allowing the Dark Eldar to play the evil coniving frags they are and have them go with the the tyranids turn but have they on no ones side. The idea is for the dark eldar to be raiding both sides.

Grey your signiture is fraggin amazing!

We might make a blog site for this but remember that all but the Tyranid player are in the navy so do not think it will be updated all the time.

Budget for everyone is about $4,000 apiece
