I make a thread like this before the updated Grey Knight Codex and I was quite popular so I thought I would try it again but the new rules and fluff in the codex may have changed peoples minds.

The Acolyte- I was just wondering what everyones favourite assassin is? I doesnt matter if you like the assassin because: it looks good; its good on the tabletop or you like the background. I like to know your reasons for your choice too.

Eversor is it for me. Back in 2nd ed my guard army never left home without one. Back then he was awesome.

Later on he got replaced by the Callidus and these days the Vindicare will take the field in my GK list.

That being the case the Eversor will always be my favorite and was the most fun to play with.

Good memory's

Eversor assassin has always been the knife in the dark for me. A ruthlessly programmed killer whose only objective is to kill or be killed, regardless.

Eversor or Vindicare...

I just realised I never said my favourite.

I really like the callidus assain in gaming terms as i like to think of her hiding in a unit and then slaughtering the whole unit as she morphs back. I like the futuristic idea of shapeshifting and the fluff behind the enhancements to mimick any organism.

However I really like the fluff behind the deathcults and imagine them as a kind of assassin bodyguard (if you have read the GK omnibus you will know what i mean). They look so sinister and evil and worshipers of khorne however i like the fact they are so loyal to their masters. I like the idea of them being fielded as a unit. I could imagine 5 or 6 of them jumping about in unison like a dance killing masses of infantry and jumping out the way of bullets. Its very cool to imagine them walking silently behind an inquisitor and at a seconds notice jump out and kill anyone that tries to get close to their master. The models are also very cool and have lots of flowing motion in such small models.

I need to get me an Eversor, I have a Vindicare but the models for them are a bit static, Eversors are awesome.
I'm not a fan of the Culexus assassin models though, they must get serious neckache.

Mine is the Calidus for coolness, looks and general style, (although the models are not as awesome as they should be - perhaps they will make one to match Lelith) closely followed by Joe Pinapples - opps I mean the Vindicare

In the new Codex, Death Cult Assassins are very deadly for a 15 pt model. wins it for me.

I like the vindicare. I can't help but imagine this loner, slightly deranged guy, sitting on a roof, looking through his scope and saying things like "Oh, what do you want to do, little archon? Do you want to kill all MY terminators? Well we can't allow it now, can we? Let's fix that by taking away that energy field you have there".
Or even aiming at his Inquisitor head, tracking him as he moves, and shouting "BANG!" before looking for real targets.

Calidus used to be the best assassin, now she's still a solid runner-up. Vindicare has taken the crown now.

Cullexus is slightly better but still not great. The Eversor got royally screwed.


I don't know which I would say is my favorite. Calidus, probably, since she has the funkiest abilities and weapons.

When I use Inquisition allies in my SoB army, I usually recruit a callidus or a vindicare.

Or even aiming at his Inquisitor head, tracking him as he moves, and shouting "BANG!" before looking for real targets.

But finally, I voted Eversor, because of a story that I always remember. I think it was in a very old WD. A solo Eversor secretly embark in a galactic ship and slowly slaughter everyone, spreading terror until the end.
This story was so bluffing that the Eversor stays the main Imperial killer in my mind.

Even though he isn't very stealthy or subtle like the Offico Assassinorum is known for, the Eversor still is the most awesome.

The Eversor is just so crazy it's awesome. I mean he even blows up when he dies (though I think that was removed in the new codex).

I like all the assassins, save for the Death Cults. Never found them to be particularly interesting compared to the big four.
The skull-faced psyker-killer constantly bleeding an aura of absolute wrongness and firing horrifying beams of anti-psychic energy from its eyes narrowly beats out the dead-shot uber sniper for my favorite of the bunch. I just wish the models didn't look so bad.

Fluff wise I always thought the Culexis were pretty crazy, the fact that these guys have to be blanks, then have to live through all the training. I figured they would have to be pretty rare, even moreso than the other Officio Assasinorium assassins. Also they have a crazy scary helmet.

A close second for me is the vindicare (yet again due to the book nemesis)

Adds up too 101% now for me. Guess something is wrong atm with the script that controls polls. Maybe its just making up for being below 100% before, now its going above 100% to even things out.

Vindacare all the way...nothing better than taking out your enemies favourite model before he can make an impact!

The models are only supposed to be a snapshot of the unit in the entire battle.

Darn, looks like no one is loving the Callidus. These girls can be anyone to take out their target. Not only that but they can then assume their targets role and command their forces.

Callidus are the kind of assassins that make Orks and Space Marines fight alongside each other. That's power you can't contest.


Not to mention I think the whole shapeshifting thing is really cool

I'm gunna go give some Xenos lovefor Deathleaper, snikrot, and the Eldar assassins.

Calidus assasin for me M'shen took down Konrad Kurze even if he didnt offer much resistance infiltrating an Astartes Legions fortress monastary and making your way to a primarchs chambers is pretty impressive.

40K assassin snipers...

The vindicare is becoming deeply annoying taking out sorcerers and icons in my thousands sons heavy army but for imagery/fluff the eversor infiltrating and butchering HQs etc really appeals. Their was an old piece of fluff, can't remember where, about them being held in stasis and "defrosted" for a mission and one having the most hideous expression on his face which I liked.
