High, I am thinking of getting a stompa for an all-round purpose and I wandered what type I should buy (Big mek, Claw etc).

the regular ol' stompa is the best IMO.

mostly because of the Supa Gatla

In Imperial Armour 8, it has a section for Custom Stompa's. It shows the points cost and allows you to pick each option yourself. The only one oyu can't re-creat with those rules is the "Evil Eye Stompa"

Yea I think Custom is your best bet so you can take what you want

Although it can get quite expensive, I once made a stompa that was about 900 points and could pump out more than 100 shots each turn due to the giga shootas and deff arsenal it had

Do points really matter in apoc?

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.

I know a guy who has scratched a Gargant for his stompa and the thing is apparently over 2K points. It has a belly gun, a supa gatler, lifta droppa, supa rokkits, grot rokkits, and a bunch of heavy shootas. It absolutely destroys anything that gets in its way.

Anyone got actual dimensions for a stompa?

It's slightly taller than those GW bastions, and about the footprint of two battlewagons next to each other.

You could try a Klawstompa, which is brilliant at ripping open Super-Heavy vehicles, with a 24" minimum threat range (12" movement + 6" run + 12" assault), 8 Destroyer attacks on the charge, and the ability to throw wrecked vehicles at the enemy!

My WIP Stompa posts may help for dimensions etc. There are some pieces next to a Space Marine. This is the one that GW makes, however, NOT the Forge World one.

Stick a Big Mek with KFF inside the Stompa for a 4+ cover save on the Stompa.

Another fun thing is to just load up with Big Meks and Mekboyz found in Loota squads on the Stompa and repair up all the damage every turn with the Mek Toolz.

Lifta-Droppa arms are always funny too (Becomes a 1shot St: D Ap:1 10" blast in apocalypse!)

Sounds hilarious! Also, don't they THROW an enemy vehicle as well?! Two times the awesome. My Stompa has the super shooty blaster thing (I don't know what it's called) but it sounds hilarious.

whats even more hilarious is a Stompa's transport capacity.

you can have a stompa, with a bunch of Deff Dreds inside(regular vehicles take up 10 slots in a Super Heavy vehicle)

There is a guy who scratched a stompa at my FLGS and has yet to put an access point on it. I am encouraging him to put it underneath and just ratchet the stompa up and have the boyz literally pour out the bottom to assault stuff.

Lifta droppas are hilarious to use, cause they can, and often do, throw enemy vehicles off the table or into titans. It is so much fun to see a GK LR fly away because it was foolish enough to get into the range of a stompa.

You could even go haywire and put a Mekka Dread with two Mega Dreads inside. The Mekka Dread would even bring a KFF. Dreadageddon!

Reminds me of a story told at one of my FLGS. Someone came to a 40.000 point 4vs4 apoc battle where the board was filled with stompas, baneblade variants, three warhound titans, a slanesh titan, two of those huge tyranid bugs and more stuff of that size. He plonked down four battlewagons and nothing more. They basically ignored them over the stompas and huge tyranids coming at them, until it was to late.

Total points costs of his army: ~10.000, that's 2500 points per battlewagon.

Not to say, their opponents were a little more than surprised when those four puny wagons reached their lines and unloaded a KFF bigmek and 19 Warbosses each and the orks declared Ghazghkul's Waagh!. According to a friend(the tyranid player), they wiped out almost all enemy superheavies during their Waagh!.

Seriously did not know about that rule.
*wipes drool from keyboard*

Could you then have 2 battlewagons inside the Stompa assuming this is correct?

(regular vehicles take up 10 slots in a Super Heavy vehicle)

Thats 12 inches for the Stompa move, 12 for the BW when it disembarks, 2+6 (fleet) if a Waaagh is called and another 6 for a charge?

the disembarking units still can't move unless they disembark before the transport moves.

that said, the orks inside the Battlewagon could still disembark from it and assault(if it doesn't have an Ard case)

I lol'd so hard when i read that. 19 Warbosses per battlewagon!!!! WTF that's slowed awesome!

My Stompa has the megas supa gatler and it just sounds downright hilarious at all times haha. I have the GW stompa and it comes with a back hatch with a little door and ladder. I assume that is the access point? Or is the whole stompa the access point? Because I don't really see hw a dread could make it in or out of there. The hatch is barely big enough for a regular boy if he ducks a little bit.

You know, in Apoc reloaded, there's this thing called a Dredd Mobb. Get enough Dredds, Kanz and Stompas, and you can have one. It can give a Stompa a built-in KFF, and doubles the range of the Idol rule (I think).

Actually, you know what I want to see in an Apoc game? 20 Warpheads attached to a Green Tide. Over 100 Boyz, and an almost guarenteed 'ere We Go! result, power weapons, extra attacks, Waaagh!!s, the works. Call it a Madmob.
