Hi all,

From the deep forests of the Emerald Mountains comes a new hero, a Wood Elf.
The miniature has been sculpted by Edgar Ramos, based on conceptual art by Daniel Díaz Heredia and Wayne England. Wayne is also the author of the color illustration for the blister card.

The blister comes with two different heads, to assemble the miniature with or without hood.

This release will be available through retailers and at our online shop imminently.

More info can be found here: http://www.avatars-of-war.com/eng/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&p=11120#p11120

Really hope you like it!

I don't like the face actually. In fact there's quite a bit I'm not too sure about on the mini. Which is odd, as I do like most of AoW pieces.

Her face in the artwork reminds me of Olivia Wilde for some odd reason.

But hey, another great AoW mini.

Nice one.
But I´m curious about one thing.
Whats the kind of deal AoW have running with GW? You guys produce one gorgeous miniature after another, each of them clearly based on GWs IP.
Nothing happens.

Raging Heroes makes one Manticore with a Lammasu head and get sued.

I like it... The hooded head moreso than the bare one, but options are good

Huh? Raging Heroes miniatures are based on fantasy tropes.

You make Tolkien lol!

Also, the entirety of the last 3000 years of European Mythology called, they'd like a word with the one representing 'GWs IP', something about prior claim?

Not trying to sound like a jerk, but I'm surprised to see she actually has a top on. I am glad, however, this is a very nice model, I look forward to future Wood Elf releases.

Kingdom Death Fanatic. Dark Eldar: Kabal of the Fragile Breath. Dark Elves: Allegiance to the Black Crown. Also, Masons, Cygnar, and Legion of Everblight. All unnamed.

Holy gak that is an awesome username. Please tell me your army is called Kabal of the Fragile Breath. Morathi's Darkest Sin has some competition here for best handle, I think.

Maybe they will do alternative torsos for future models - top on and off

nice enough model.

@ MeanGreenStompa:
I know about GWs lets call it rather liberal understanding of IP rights and especially their lawyers.

So I just dont understand, while some different other companies get their pants sued off their asses, AoW is doing fine and expanding.
Just look at the new berserkers, a 1:1 copy of GW and nothing happens.

ONE Lammasu head and BAM! Lawyers are on the prowl.

I'm with the comment about the face, but otherwise, WOW. Nice elf.

Seems this one and the one from Banelords both have face issues though...

It is my understanding that GW DID Take AOW to court and the Spanish court ruled that AOW was not infringign upon GW or that there was nothing GW coudl do about it or some such like that.

I have been critical of AOW's methods in the past but to be totally honest how can you blame them for going where the money is.... That I think Felix is just a fan of that look. I personally woudl VERY much liek to see his interpretation of troupes outside of the mainstream of fantasy....Araby maybe?

GW sued Raging Heroes because they knew that they would win by default, on account of the fact that Raging Heroes isn't big enough to defend itself. Avatars of War resisted (as is Chapterhouse, as is Paulson), and GW's case apparently fell apart in the face of that. GW spends a lot of time working in the Fantasy tropes department because that niche is highly marketable, but it also makes it harder for them to lock down their imagery and designs as their own property.

AoW was actually served a C&D and/or legal action by GW?

I missed this - when did this happen?

I recall hearing a story that Juan Diaz himself paid a visit to AoW, and was totally pissed off. Don't know how much stock I put in it though.
