I was wondering, just out of curiosity, how many people on dakka like my little pony: friendship is magic? I'm considering watching it, and am curious about the appeal to older audiences.

What do you mean? I'm just curious, because I saw people mentioning it a lot online. Is that so bad?

There's 2 kinds of people with regards to the show:

People who think it's the greatest thing ever and people who think the first group are crazy.

You know you're really doing something when you can make strangers hate you over the Internet. - Mauleed
Just remember folks. Panic. Panic all the time. It's the only way to survive, other than just being mindful, of course-but geez, that's so friggin' boring. - Aegis Grimm

So, if someone like me, whose never seen it before asks, is he crazy? There's a such thing as watching it and not thinking it's the best, no?

Oh, so, it's like the touhou project then?
From what I've seen, I doubt anyone's going to rant.

i have never seen it,never will. aka i hate it. you want even decent cartoons,go to cartoon network. and even that has bad these days. the only show on their i even kinda find amusing is adventure time. i end up bored alot and end up sitting on the couch watching whatever my sisters are watching

anyways,no. i hate those stupid ponies so i hate the show ive never seen.

There was a whole spate of cute collectibles with cartoons as elongated adverts back in the 80's, none of which hold any appeal to me.

Don't mind cute but this cartoon I find dull and likely to cause irritable bowel syndrome.

Also it is dubbed not subbed
just kidding Remilia

from what i think is still going on.

adventure time/pretty good, fights could be better. but for a 15-30 minute show they do a decent story.

johnny test/most annying thing on earth.if i ever meet one of the creators,im going to kick his shin alot.

regular how/ ok. very, very strange though.dont like its repetitive parts.

as for past shows...

power puff girls/to girly,dont like.

samurai jack/ decent, liked the whole black blood thing. everyone's a robot cause it has to be for kids.

dexter/meh. to much science for the age it was meant for.other than that pretty good.

fosters home/ kinda liked, but never loved it. it would be cool if it worked that way though...

Spoiler:

I didn't want to anger the pony fans out there, so I put the violent photo in a spoiler. VERY NSFW.

It's not a bad show; it's reminiscent of the times where you actually had to understand what was happening in the world to understand it (one episode drops three OLD movie references, like Indiana Jones, in ten seconds. Three references, ten seconds.....) Unlike most newer cartoons that are mostly fart jokes (I know there were older ones that relied on the same).

Basically, I watch it because it reminds me of the older times, if it wasn't so damn clever I wouldn't bother with it.

I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.
