Hey everybody so...this is about my 3rd attempt at a blog, but with an army Im serious about and greatly enjoy painting haha I guess what they say is true 3rd times the charm, so yea we'll get into what Ive been doing recently with my nids, but lets explore some of the past things

Right here is my first attempt at my scheme which I did on a hormagaunt, After I was happy with the scheme I continued to paint 11 more of them

I had then bought some tyranids off my friend alot of which save for some genestealers, warriors and a couple termagaunts, were painted which I will have to strip soon. but the prize of this package was the carnifex which will forever be making cameo appearances as a Tervigon, Big Mama

A few weeks later I was thinking about life and all its wonders when all of a sudden I realized "Oh man! Hiveguard are expensive! so I decided to convert my own, although I will admit the idea was not my own, I was inspired my Auxelli0n's tyranids hive guard which he converted from warriors and a carnifex extra back armor plate, so I made 2 of my own using his methods

and for the hell of it I decided to start converting my own parasite of Mortrex because I love the fluff for it and I'd really like to use it some more games.

right now its in the painting process with a pair of scything talons and a few rippers on the base, it wont stick together :( rending claws keep falling off.

And now fast forward to this week , Ive been working on some gaunts, my goal for the week is to have atleast 11 painted so keep me going, so far I have about 6 done completely here they are haha

and right here is a preview for what is next on the list a couple zoanthropes and my 2nd hiveguard

Lol but I wont keep you waiting that long, here they are my zoanthropes that I started and finished painting today, Im very proud of my paintjob and I was surprised by how well they came out considering my lack in skill.

and this is my army as a whole minus the Zoanthropes ofcourse

So thankyou for reading through all my stuff, and hopefully it kept you interested enough to want to keep reading and following my progress.

as for my goals for the rest of the week is to get the rest of the 11 gaunts finished painted and either some warriors or my hiveguard.

Thanks for reading, until next time my friends

Thanks man! its definitely one of the funnest things to play with game wise, Im planning on soon converting a full fledged tervigon one day, most likely to look exactly like the artwork in the codex

Alright everybody due to a couple of factors Ive just decided to paint up the 8 genestealers that I have in my 1500 pts list, and yes they are Ymgarls until I get the 2 venomthropes that I need right now Im just using normal genestealers as counts as Ymgarls until I get some more tendril heads....which if anybody has any they dont need they should definitely PM me...

but anyways heres the WIP of my genestealers

As for making actual Ymgar Genestealers I have 8 unbuilt Genestealers still, so Im planning on ordering some of the Chapterhouse studios heads for Ymgarls and the set of 2 tendril heads that come with the genestealers themselves, should be pretty cool

Im hoping to have the genestealers done within the next 2 days so...until then my friends

Looking good Moartiki

You might want to try using warrior sized 'rending claws' as well for your Ymgarls, make them look a bit beefier. Look forward to seeing your tervigon concept. I've just started doing the concept for my Tervy - so far so good...

My only suggestion on the painting would be to try using a colour a shade lighter to edge the carapace areas - of course you may prefer the darker look but I think it would be worth comparing.

Either way - keep it up! you're making great progress

thankyou so much Slice n Dice for your kind words!, and yea I agree with you and the highlights they do seem pretty subtle, right now the basecoat is scab red, and I highlight it with red gore so hmm so i guess after I feather on the red gore I'll try feathering on some blood red as well should look pretty cool Ive seen something like that before. and I'll definitely see if I can pick up some extra rending claws cuz that sounds like it would be cool. and to be honest Im really looking forward to getting a carnifex kit to convert up one, but while moneys tight right now saving for college classes my Original Big Mama will have to suffice haha. I'd love to check out ur tervigon when its finished Cheers dude!

Hey everybody, Funny story....so I was going about painting my Hiveguard which I was just itching to paint, getting the chitin/skin done and I looked to the side of my painting desk and I see my Parasite of Mortrex, now I dont know if I was hallucinating from all the primer fumes but it looked like it was frowning, begging to be finished painted, so in my trance like state I said OKAY! so before I even continued painting my Hiveguard I finished my Parasite, here he is

Now I know on the last picture it looks pretty bad, especially the rippers, but I guess I just put two much primer on the rippers when I was basecoating it haha but it still looks awesome to me, I honestly cant wait to use it in another game

but dont think I forgot the Hiveguard, here they are

HiveGuard #1

HiveGuard #2

And now My most favorite of all the pics, My army so far, Im really proud Ive managed to get this much painted although I have lots more gaunts to go

Love to hear what you guys think

cheers, Moartiki

Hi Moartiki,

Good to see the Nids coming along. I think your skin is coming along nicely - and it's good to see a parasite conversion (my one will have to wait until my Tervy is done I think...)

I especially like the skin on the front of the parasite - looks nice and wet, and the dark recesses gives it a lot of depth. The back of the wings could possibly use a bit more depth, but I realise you probably wanted to go with a lighter effect here.

I think your carapace on your minis could go a long way by leaving the recesses black (like 0.5 - 1mm of black) before you start the red, and then edging each plate with a red/orange mix. This would just ensure each plate is distinguished a bit more, and I think would really make the mini's pop.

Love the Hive Guard conversions - definitely cheaper than my Hive Guard!

Look forward to seeing what's next - keep it up
