How much money have you spent on 40k total so far? Add up every single Games workshop product you've ever bought and just how much would've it been? A new gaming PC? A car? A mortgage?

Meh, 1000-1500. That's fair for a hobby in my books. I spend more on bass guitars and snowboarding equipment, so my priorities are still straight.

I've also been playing for a year, though my spending has dropped off significantly since my first six months in the hobby.

I have spent $5,783.47.

400-500 since I started up again. Significantly more in the past, but it's too difficult to calculate.

It feels like I've spent $5000+ but realistically I think $2500 covers it. A lot of my hobby spending has also been on non-GW stuff so I might be mixing some of it in there.

$2500.... my mind is blown. I guess it's kind of reasonable when you consider that some people have over 3 armies and thousands of points worth of said armies. I guess if you accrued it over the course of a decade, $1000 isn't bad. Still, the idea of spending multiple grands on a hobby that revolves around plastic models (as opposed to antique guns or sailing or something) seems nigh insane.

I've probably spend about $2500 in the past year in a half. That includes two 3000 point armies, Space Hulk, paints, tools, and books.

My DE, Space Marines and CSM probably are around $800 or so.

I spent about $500 or so. possibly a little more. And with that comes. about 3.5k points in marines. 2.5k in necrons. and around 1500 points for chaos.

Dang, certainly sounds like you caught somebody doing a everything must go clearance of their hobby collections.

If you ask me how much money I've spent on the hobby, depending on mood, my answer will either be, 'Not enough," or "all of it."

I have calculated about $800 for my IG and Chaos armies (and AoBR), but only about $600 spent by me (others as presents). On other miniature games, I have spent about $150 on FoW (so far, still have to add to my army), and about $200 or more on Star Wars Miniatures.

I'm pretty sure those $5000+ votes are trolls.

About 150 so far. Not including travel costs.

Or have been playing for quite a long time. It's a bit naive to assume that no-one's spent that much, I've seen some huge collections in my time.

Yep.

Talked to a guy at GenCon that's been playing for years. Has 3 reaver titans, 4 warhounds (I think), and can field a 40,000 point Apoc army of Dark Angels.

If you can believe him. Seemed genuine enough, though.

Not much, downloaded much of the codex, books, comics and games via torrent. I only bought DoW 2 with all of it's expansions.
And I didn't had the money for figurines, paint and brushes untill 2 weeks ago. So I am slowly painting them now.
Overall - I might spend:

Around 80 dollars for DoW II and it's expansion ( I ordered Space Marine to ).
And around 25 dollars for tabletop, for now.

guessing £10-20,000 - probably more - thats ponuds not dollars

I have every codex and armybook, all the rulebook editions, Realm of Chaos books and several thousand points for pretty much every army, some much more than that plus hundreds of odd and single models, boardgames most of the BL novels etc etc etc

Through the years I've bought and built:

7 different chaos marine armies
2 Space Marine armies
2 Imperial guard armies (1 with cadians and 1 with voyestrans)
1 Ork speed freaks army
1 Chaos daemons army
1 necron army
1 Eldar army
1.5 dark eldar armies (making a new one now)
1.5 Tyranid armies (just decided to stop building a new one, but have a bunch of money invested already)
1 Daemonhunter army
1 witchhunter army
1 massive genestealer chaos cult
1 chaos renegades army (using large numbers of Forge world renegade conversion kits and cadian plastics)
Recent addition of a ton of Forge World chaos related minis for my various chaos marine armies

This doesn't include rules or codex books or all of the other GW products I have either....hehe
