Generally any list that spams any one unit and over and over again, such as a Marine army with 6 lascannon/twin linked plasma gun razorbacks each with a 5 man squad of Marines with a powerfist and combi melta with 3 squads of TH/SS Terminators and some token HQ. Alternately, the mechvet Guard army with just veteran guardsmen with 3 meltas each, two company command squads with 4 meltas each, all loaded in Chimeras or Vendettas, with as many points put into Vendettas as possible.

As for actual cheesy play, like rules interpretations - that's very situational and changes from person to person.

In your opinion.

That's the problem. Cheesy is subjective and not particularly productive.

And do we really need another one of these threads?

Oh, I know what cheesy "means" in this context. Seeing as this is subjective, I wanted to know what You consider to be cheesey, and whether you have a problem with it..

A list that entirely flows around just spamming two or three no brainer units that easily show their superiority to whatever you can field for that cost.

Gotcha, legal armies are now "cheesy".

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Cheese armies are generally legal builds. Illegal armies are generally cheating, ignorance, or a special scenario.

I see those spammy lists and usually think that this person isn't a very good player.

It's a balanced list across the table that worries me.

I agree, from my experience armies that use a range of different squads together is more intimidating, and fights better. For instance, Necron armies that use all the squads available to them in large numbers work like enormous clockwork when used well, every squad just works with each other. I know it's a bad example as Necrons have been nerfed, but if when they're re-released they follow the same system, boy... They'll destroy everything.

Cheese will be a term, that a person will use who wished to take bad units, call them "fluffy" then wish take the blame off of them seleves for ineffective army composition, rather than face the fact there are units just better than others.

Which makes it all the more hilarious when the person that takes "ineffective" units pounds some humbleness into the other guy because he thought his "better" army would substitute his lack of skills.

You can't tell me half of the "power lists" are A) Fun to use, B) Tactically flexible, and C) Just better than the others.

People who rely on those spammy lists (like the Fzorgle CSM lists....) make me puke!

It really depends on the context of the game.

If you're playing in a Tourney, especially 'Ard Boyz level, there is nothing that is cheesy. You play to win, even if that involves spamming some OP unit.
If you're playing a pickup game in a FLGS, using a list taken right of the net is cheesy. You need to add a bit of your own flare to it.
If you're playing against some local friends, who enjoy fluffy lists, or who focus on getting cool looking models, taking a "competitive" level list is cheesy. Fun>Winning in this case.

Cheese to me would be taking advantage of rule wordings or stretching the rules. For example, I played an IG player who put his guys in a "checkered formation". there are two squads and the numbers represent soldiers from these squads. Technicly half the squad is obscured for both of them, so they both get a 4+ cover save even though they are in the open.
