So I've hit a bit of motivational lull when it comes to painting my guys up, thought I'd upload some pictures to try and give me a reason to get them finished!
All pictures are work in progress, I haven't got a single miniature to a standard that I'm happy to call completed. I'm still experimenting with colour lay out for armour and clothing etc, I'm considering having the body suits in black, with armour panels in purple edged with gold.... like I say though, all'san experiment at the moment!
Any way, less talk more walk, here are the pictures:
Automatically Appended Next Post: The Lhamaean started life out as a Dark Elf Sorceress from the Cauldron of Blood kit. I carved her face off (which sounds cool just to even say) and replaced it with the mask from the Death Jester. The blast pistol will be replaced by a splinter pistol soon to better fit the idea of a poisoners weapon. Or possibly something made to look like the needle pistol from the DE codex.
The Archon uses the Death Jester body, with added Archon parts.
I'm looking forward to bundling the Succubus in with 8 bloodbrides and Lelith at some point.
The Sslyth was made from a genestealer body, lizardman head, pink horror arms, with tau drone guns and dwarf axes. I have another of these armed with swords.
The Warrior's there just to demonstrate the colour scheme that I'm working with, in how the gold and purple alternates over each armour panel. Also replaced his lefthand with a blade, inspired by the skaven release White Dwarf - there's a clan that does exactly that, which gave me a what the hell moment, bye bye hand, hello the very definition of punch blade. His sex life's taken a bit of a blow though.
Anyway, comments, criticisms etc more than welcome!
Very interesting conversions! For the color scheme, I like the gold but it's a little jarring- perhaps hit it with a wash (Gryphon Sepia? and if you end up doing silver, perhaps Badab Black on that) to kind of smooth out the metallic effect?
I also think the purple and red could be a bit brighter, although that could be preference (I'm talking about the last pic for your general color scheme).

Cheers man, yeah I have the gryphonne sepia in, I've been waiting to do that as one of the last parts of the job. Not really sure why... I'm stearing clear of using silver - I put that warior up as I was happiest with how I've painted his armour. I have a lot of small changes to make to his entire unit!
Completely agree on the colours needed lighting up a bit, though the red loin cloths out of the window and replaced by green, this being the colour of choice for hair, banners, sails etc.
Thanks for the reply dude, I saw 60 something views, no replies and thought my work was crap so yeah, 'ppreciate it!
Just typing up some back ground, hopefully get some more pics up (completed) as I have this week off. Wyches most likely
This started out as background for the Kabal, but ended up as more of a mini story that introduces you to the Archon and the workings of the assoicated Coven (no models for this yet, but plenty of plans for them!)
Hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it
Spoiler:
"Tell me what you see" muttered the Haemonculus.
The room was awful. It stank of clinical death. Of experiments, and too many chemicals used on too many poor unfortunates that were in
the wrong place at the wrong time, or not wise enough to put a las round through their own skulls when the Dark Eldar burst through the cloud on Jogvan IV.
It smelt of diminished hope and the extraction of souls.
"W-what?" stammered the Guardsman, though man was hardly fitting. He'd barely cleared 20 terran years.
"Tell me what you see, Mon-Keigh, a simple request, no?" The Haemonculus gestured to a servant in front of the Guardsman that held a cube in his hand, it
wasn't overly large, about the same size as lasgun battery pack.
"I... I don't understand, I don't see anything"
"Look.... closer..."
He stared at the box, a plain item made of an unfamiliar black metal that seemed to suck light in towards it. Was it pulsing? It was hard to tell... it
made his head hurt to focus on it for long, but he couldn't look away.
"I see pain. I see my pain" whispered the Guardsman in broken tones.
"What else?"
"I see... I don't want to... I see my pain. The more I look the more it hurts, I see my pain reflected back at me".
The box had started to spin in the Wracks hand, slowly at first but gathering speed. It started to change shape, making the screeching sounds of lost souls.
"No more, please..." tears rolled down his cheek, only to be scooped up by a waiting attendant and dropped in a pool of luminous green fluid that glooped in
a well along part of the circular rooms wall.
"You must look. Salvation depends on it" croaked the Pain Master, talking through the parched lips of a dry throat. A tube of glowing green fluid, mixed
with the tears of the prisoners of the Jogvan Guard, was delivered to the Haemonculus and plugged in to a waiting hole in his back. He sighed with
satisfaction.
The Guardsmans tears were flowing in full now, his eyes being drawn out of his head as he stared at the spinning box.
"How are our guests, Pain Master?"
"My lord" croaked the Haemonculus. The Kabals Archon, Ardath Dei, strode slowly into the chamber from a portal set deep in a wall cavity. "They have been
most amusing my lord, this one was particularly easy to break, and all the more enjoyable for it"
"Really. Tell me Mon-Keigh, what are you feeling now?" addressed the Archon.
The Guardsman looked across slowly, with the pain thumping between his eyes. He traced the armour lines of this new comer, encased in purple marble and edged in
gold. The helmet seemed to be made of a similar material to the box as it had the same effect. He flinched as he tried to make eye contact as his Sergeant
had taught him. "Always look your enemy in the eye".
"I feel nothing. I feel empty."
"What if I were to give you a chance of freedom? Would you like a weapon?"
A small spark of hope flared in the Guardsmans heart at the thought. It must have shown in his eyes as the Archon produced a las pistol, and threw it to
within inches of the Guardsmans bound hands.
"Pain Master. Untie him."
The Haemonculus gestured from his throne, hovering at head height. One of the attendant Wracks cut the Guardsmans bonds, who immediately dropped to the
floor. The Wrack moved to stand behind him.
"Why? Why would you give me the means to kill my captors?" asked the Guardsman
Ardath and the Pain Master exchanged a gleeful chuckle, before turning back to face the Guardsman.
"What is your name, Mon-Keigh?" asked Ardath Dei.
"My... name... is Garnett. Spes Garnett. Kingsman of the Jogvan Guard". Feeling was returning now, strength was ebbing back in to his arms. He kneeled
on the floor, crouching in front of the pistol with his head bowed, tracing the lines of the weapon with his eyes. Loaded, safety off, seemingly in good
condition. He was out numbered, but the Pain Master and his attendant didn't look to be fast. It was the armoured one that would be the threat, though he
didn't seem to be armed.
"My name is Spes Garnett. I am a Kingsman of the Jogvan Guard. I am might. I am power. I am strength and with me is the light of the God Emperor. I am
Spes Garnett and I. Will. KILL. YOU". In a cavalcade of rage, Spes snatched up the pistol and shot 3 short bursts at the Pain Master, each hitting him
square in the chest, turning him to all but mush, burning his already paper dry flesh. Spes ducked and rolled, coming to a hault by what seemed like an
operating table and drew a bead on the attendant Wrack, burning a hole in its shoulder.
Suddenly Spes left the ground, hoisted up by the back of his neck and was thrown back at the wall that he'd only recently been bonded to. Ardath Dei jumped
down from the operating table and pounced across the room like a black tiger, snatching Spes up again by the throat and pinning him in place.
"Very good Mon-Keigh, let me feel your rage, do not give out to fear, you can kill me if you really want to, you know this to be true".
Spes's eyes rolled in his sockets, searching for a way out of the grip. He began to kick the Dark Eldar, hitting him in the side of the torso with each hit,
though he was getting weaker, but he wouldn't give up hope. He could beat this xeno filth, he's a Kingsman for the greatest army known to man!
He stopped scrabbling at the Archons grip and snatched a knife out of a scabbard at the Archons hip, and thrust it in to his assailants shoulder, all the way down to the hilt.
The grip loosened.
"That's it Mon-Keigh, you're almost free"
"I AM SPES GARNETT" he roared in reply, inches from the Archons masked features.
"AND YOUR SOUL IS MINE, KINGSMAN OF THE JOGVAN GUARD!" Quicker than a bolt of lightning, the Archon dropped the Guardsman to the ground and pulled the knife
from his shoulder, thrusting it into Spes' heart. He snatched up the black cube from the dying Wracks hand and pushed it close to the Guardsmans eyes.
It was impossible for Spes to avoid looking at it, and at this distance its horrifying effect was unavoidable. The soul trap clicked open in the same
instant that Spes gave up hope. There was blood pouring from his ragged chest, though the worst feeling that Spes had was that of his soul being drawn out
of his eyes, and deep in to the cube held in the Archons fist. With a bang like a cannon shot, Spes's lifeless body dropped to the ground, his soul saved as
a new play thing for later.
Ardath withdrew slowly and looked around the room. He approached the Wrack that was bleeding out on the theatre floor. So that's where the Sergeant went.
With a whisper and the pad of bare feet, more Wracks entered the room and gathered vials of the green tear fluid, and carried it over to the dried out husk of the Pain Masters body.
Within moments, the Haemonculus sat on his hovering throne, with his Wracks nearby, waiting on instructions.
"Another excellent candidate, I feel my lord," croacked the Pain Master.
"Most certainly, I'll take much enjoyment from this one. Make an initiate of him won't you."
"Yes, my lord". The Haemonculus gestured to the nearby Wracks who scooped up the limp body of former Kingsman of the Jogvan Guard, Spes Garnett and placed
him ceremoniously on the operating table. "We'll make something of him yet"...

I really like these mate, well done.
Thanks mate, really appreciate that. I haven't finished painting these models yet, I'm changing the skin colour entirely, and have plenty of highlights and shading to work on, just wanted to put them up to get some thoughts on the actual conversion work. I'll bob 'em in to the gallery when I'm happy with the paint job though.
EDIT: Looking closer at your Archon, it wouldn't be out of place in a Diablo game!
I can't say that I know Diablo...? What is it? (I'd google it, but rather talk!)
Project update: the wyches are on hold again (sorry ladies, I know it's rude to keep you waiting all this time....) as I've just got my first Razor Wing Jet Fighter, Haemonculus and unit of Wracks.
All are built up, the jet fighter's had its first licks of paint, on to the detail work soon. The Haemy and Wracks have been assembled and base coated - hope to get some pics up later this week!!!
...I gotta admit, I had a wee bit of a nerdgasm when I cracked these all open. The Wracks & Haemy were my first Finecast mini's and the detail is astounding. The added flash is damned annoying but I definitely prefer working with it to metal. And that Jet Fighter.... drools....
So I got a little diverted from the Haemy, Wracks and Razorwing, and re-converted Archon numero deux. He's not finished yet, needs tidying up, basing and anything else that you might wana point out (please, feel free, I'd like criticism so I can get better!).
I took one metal archon body, and added the blast pistol and spear from the Scourges. Simples.

Haha! Now that you say, I see it! Maybe I'll do a version of him using someone as a launch pad, lobbing the spear in to... I dunno.. the Emperor? WHy not!
(As a side note, I'm enjoying the Emperor / Xerxes comparison!)
Project update, the Dark Elf shield motifs arrived in the post yesterday, just need to break out the green stuff and mold them to fit my Raider. Need to re-paint the damn thing again (hate those chassisisisisis!). I tried about 5 different schemes on the hull so far, still not found one that I'm happy with. Hoping that the shields will take care of that though.
Mandrakes on the way too, looking forward to these guys arriving, think I'll have a lot of fun painting these guys up. Wondering how I can turn one in to Kheradruakh. Not to be used as Kheradruakh rule wise, just to add a bit more to the unit instead of them just being mono pose out of the box finecast lovelies.
Also Perkustin, thanks for your feedback, I've had eyes on your plog for a while and have been astounded by what you've achieved - thanks for gracing my pages lol.
I vow to have the Warriors up this weekend (3 day weekend, surely I can do it?) followed by the Raider.... feel free to hit if I fail!
You're joking right?! That's a huge compliment, thanks buddy! Personally I prefer the finecast ones, though I do wish that they'd been done in plastic (along with all other Archons Court models) - seems to me that if there should be more than 1 model in a unit, they need to look different to each other!
Well, there you go buddy, I've been wanting to get some kind of hell hound creature to substitute as an Ur Ghul too, though maybe genestealer bodies would be a good alternative, just use a different head. Although perhaps termagants would be better, make them look like the Sslyths hunting dogs...? Hmmmm.... I feel a bits order coming on!
Anyway, in true Si-style, I've left painting to the very last minute and will try my damndest to get the warriors completed tonight and uploaded onto our wonderful forum here.... no distractions this time!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Kitch had a bit of a tantrum tonight. Well... not really... but I did get pretty ed off at my lack of painting skill compared to others that I've seen. You know, the ones that have been painting for over 10 years, day in day out... So clearly I should feel bad about that! Lol.
I got the warriors close to finished, re-doing a lot of the armour and all of the fabrics & hair. Also based each with sand. This may sound stupid (or it may not), but I'm sure that having plain black bases was holding me back... has anyone else had this before? It's like I couldn't focus on anything else, but equally I had no idea it was because the bases were plain.
I'll hopefully have pictures tomorrow, once we have some natural light back, as my camera isn't picking up the colours correctly under artificial light.
In other news, I had my second finecast disappointment today. I was given some Mandrakes as a gift a week or so ago, which ended up being chucked out as they were just pretty much unusable. GW's customer service guys were great and just sent some replacements out for me which I've 'assembled' (doesn't feel the right word to use for such restrictively posed miniatures) only to find that one doesn't have a face as there was too much flash covering it. Some broke off of their slots, ones foot wasnt attached and by god do I hate the blocks of resin that lead from the slots to the base of the mini. I mean there ing CHUNKS of the stuff. I spent more time preparing these than I did assembling them! That just seems backwards to me. I don't have a modelling knife yet, and honestly begrudge buying one purely because I have to thanks to failures in GW's quality control processes. Think I'll drop another email to GWCS tomorrow in the hope that they're documenting the faults (would love to see how long that list is).
So yes, anyway, warriros to be finished and uploaded tomorrow. Then is a choice of Raider, Wyches, Hellions, Wracks, Haemonculus or Razor Wing Jet Fighter. All of these are in varying stages of completion, so just putting it out there, but which would you guys rather see next?
Peace, love & cheese cake.

Wow, has it really been that long since I posted here? I'm not usually full of empty promises, I just haven't had the time (or the right lighting when I do have the time!) to do much painting lately.
Anywhere, below is a work in progress of my first raider. Now, this has gone through about 5 different paint scheme iterations, and is still very rough. I can't make my mind up if I like the (currently scruffy) detailing and wanted to throw some pictures out there for your thoughts. I will be tidying it up, the question is am I on the right path? I think I've looked at it so much that I just can't make my up!
You really think so? Thanks man, it needs tidying up but I think that the concepts pretty sound. Need to green stuff over the gap on the front of the hull too!
Cheers man, I was trying to find a way of representing something with a flickerfield, and remembered doing this for my GCSE art exam. The fact that I only got a D did nothing to dissaude me from it lol
Final update for today, here's the progress made on the Mandrakes. I struggled to get a 'true to life' picture where you can make out the detail, the colours don't look as thick face 2 face. I'm experimenting with the look of the skin too, trying to get a black gold hue coming through, again though this isn't showing up on camera, will try again in the next day or so, diary permitting!
Voila:
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh, and I'll be making my first attempt at OSL on these too, not really sure how the hell I'm going to pull it off but watch this space

So I'm waiting on a talos & scourge squad to arrive, reckon I'm gonna focus on having the talos as being a close combat monster, though I'm not sure about how to arm the scourges...
I'm tempted to try and magnetize the arms so I can swap the load outs as I see fit, but what do you guys think? Standard armament gets me 15 poisoned 4+ shots per turn, without costing extra points. Though when I was a kid I always wanted a devastator squad with jetpacks, now I can have it (commorragh style) but am thinking that to take the big weapons that should be taken, such as DL's, I lose some of the manouverability of the squad, or they sit ineffective for a turn having moved in to position, then unable to fire.
So what are your thoughts? Theories and facts are all equally welcome!
Automatically Appended Next Post: I'm thinking heat lance & haywire blaster for anti tank, I should at least be able to stop the tank in its tracks with the haywire blaster for a turn, and then keeping the 3 shard carbines for anti infantry. The heat lance would punch through terminator equivalent armour, not sure how the haywire would be fare though...
Automatically Appended Next Post: Note to self, project idea:
Kheradruach, demon barber of commoragh. Suitably Victorian style attire, maybe based on something from the VC range. Could also build something to represent that crazy pie lady too, use on table top could be to denote # of wounds left... Would make cracking diorama piece, khera standing tall with cut throat razor in each hand, crazy pie lady pearing round from behind him. Maybe have a cadian helmet fragment in a pie or something!
Gs scratch build?

Been working on the talos this weekend, magnetised the weapons, painted off the sprue, then decided to see what I could do with the spare parts. I wanted to try and make a 4 armed cronos walker (need to order some wraithlord legs and a few other bits) with shield and sword, using the vortex as the shield, not sure about the sword yet, and lots of hydra style heads. It'll be a while before its complete, and will probably go through a few different variants.
