Now then, Army Painter spray paints... in the holy name of ing god this stuff is brilliant! I just painted a razorwing, haemy, 5 wracks, and 2 venoms (still on sprue) in all of about 2 minutes. The coats are crisp and the colour's not all that far off of the liche purple that I've been using up to this point. Thanks for the recommend!

So, I have my first game coming up on the 14th against Brother Malleus and his Grey gaks, so you can expect to see everything pictured below (plus Incubi & the previously shown raider) finished. Completely. I will not fail, no distractions or anything, nothing will stop me in thie quest. So, here's the first picture of everything (sans Incubi) sprayed up, with more and regular updates to follow.

I've called it a night on the Haemonculus, I think I've stared at him for too long now. Not much has changed when compared to the picture above, the base is now painted red gore (though I'm considering putting it back to grey... not sure yet as it could be too close a colour to the skin, is it better to have something as seen elsewhere on the miniature or something different entirely?)

I've built up the Incubi bodies and back racks, really not feeling finecast, I wish everything was as simple as plastic!

Got a LOT of conversions in what Ive assembled so far the Talos looks an easy kit to magnatize watched a lot of video tutorials on how to do that.

Have you seen the new Vampire Counts Coven throne thats coming out? i am already sizing that up for a Ravager conversion my Archons personal transport so to say complete with biatches... hehe hes a pimp ..!!

Yeah Army Painter is pretty good stuff, they do not lie when it says one army per can.. have you tried any of their quick shade yet

Not yet, just the purple spray, I'm operating on a bit of a tight budget at the moment (getting married in March!) so I've just got what would make my job easier, quickest for cheapest! What's it like?

I have no idea, i'm trying to find a blue tinted one for armour without having to blue undercoat with plate mail over the top

What about asurmen blue ink mixed in with your choice of silver? Or any shade of the blue paints with some thinner? I'm using the 'eavy metal medium from the brush set i got for christmas, it's pretty good (not that I know any different products!)

And here be the Wracks, still a bit of work to do on them, as you'll see. Also built up my first venom this evening! This kit rules, it's so much better than the Raider kit! I promised myself that I'd stay away from Venom spam, but I truely think that my preference for this kit over the Raider will swing me otherwise...

And just in case you've never seen them before, my first Venoms built & primed.

I made the first to look more tribal, having lots of skulls and trophies galore, whereas te second is intended to be racier and more opulent, with flags, what will be gold 'banisters' and 3 sets of chain flails below deck, with a passenger sporting the same. I'm hoping to find a few designs that I can paint on to the hull to reinforce that imagery too

Looking good dude, are you just highlighting over the purple spray? or are you giving the recesses a wash first to darken them, or maybe even a micron pen?

I'm looking forward to seeing those Wracks finished off too, they're coming along nicely!

I have a confession... and I feel bad about saying this, I really do, but that's just the spray, no highlights, no shades, no layers of liche over the top (which I need to do as they'll look odd compared to my warriors).

I'm trying to get this lot ready for a game next saturday, so have been trying to do them as quickly as possible (not easy when you paint as slowly as I do! )

Left to do:

4x Incubi
2x Venoms
1x Razorwing

All primed, just need the rest doing to them

One change that I will be making to the Wracks is I'll be washing the skin with asurmen blue (or mordian blue with a gak load of thinner through it), as I want to say they're the from the Tau cultural exchange as per the codex, love that bit o story, it rocks. I just like the idea of them having been passed around as currency from Rakarth to other covens

I'm not sure what colour I should do my bases, any thoughts? Originally I just flocked them and painted them grey as i wanted to represent my guys walking across what was once lush ground, now turned to ash and dust following the number of.poisons that the atmosphere was laced with, and then set on fire after! However, my guys skin is grey too, so I did my haemy with a red base to compliment the purpke, though not sure about that one, especially with it being an entirely red base.

What do we think dudes? Any other possibilities?

One thought I've just had is to paint the base grey, then cover it in blood!

Just go for the vanilla 'graveyard earth' base. Its a nice colour and compliments nearly every scheme.

I completely agree, it goes on so easily! It's the army painter alien purple, I picked it up on eBay for about £8 with free delivery! It's made everything so much faster for me, though I do need to ensure I match it to the liche purple, as quite a pastelly colour out of the can whereas the liche is so much richer

Judging from your results i am sorely tempted to pick up an orange if they do one. Basecoating my marines in Macharius orange is pretty tedious especially seeing as i will be highlighting it into oblivion.

It doesnt seem as though they do I'm afraid bud, reds, yellows, browns, flesh tones but no oranges. Maybe a cheap airbrush that you can get just to do base coating with?

Tonight's update on the venoms and razorwing.

The green parts of the wings are going to lighten as you get closer to the wing tip (one of the effects I'm going for is for anything that looks like it cuts to be made out of green glass). This will be damned difficult to do without an airbrush, so im told and i have no reason to doubt that, but well give it a bloody good shot anyway.

I would reccomend using a wash on most of your models to though - atm they're very clean and flat, some asurmen blue in the recesses would do a treat and finish them off I think

Yeah I agree, normally I would have done though I was getting ready for a game today and given the time i take to paint, opted to cut corners as I didn't want to put anything unpainted down. I'll crack back on with doing a proper job at some point soon though I think I'm due a night off or 2 as I've been up til 2am for the last week getting things ready

First off, fluff is very evil, love it

I'd have to second the wash, I really think it would tie it in...its a very neat scheme you've got, just feels like it needs that little bit extra. The Pain master is a great example, thats a fine looking unit, its easy to see the improvement as you go.

Purple on the Razorwing is very nice, and I'm a big fan of the patterns on the Raider hull, need more of that! Get cracking

My time has been taken up with my sons of orar and non wargaming related projects though give it a few weeks and ill be right back on with my first love!

The reason for the crappy paint jobs is I rushed to get them painted for a game that didnt happen lol, though again, this will be taken care of asap
