So, exactly what it says on the tin. What's the smallest possible (in either points or models) legal army? I.e. HQ, and 2 troops.

I think Orks might have smallest legal model army, with 2 Big Meks and 2 Deff Dredds.

Well, points wise. I think 3 models is literally the smallest you can get. Unless a Tervigon counts as both a Troops and an HQ choice at the same time, or something.

What about for each army? So we know Draigo and the Orks are small lists- what about IG? Nilla Marines? 'Nids?

Smallest Nilla codex marine I think is

1 captain and 2 scout squads for 250 pts

Smallest model count is draigo and 2 paladins. It can actually make a 500 point list

Smallest points wise is coteaz and 2 squads of 3 acolytes at 124 pts.

Yeah... smallest 'nids can get is 140. Prime + two min groups of Ripper Swarms.

Smallest IG Point wise i think would be:

HQ: Vanilla Company Command Squad

Troop 1: Vanilla Veteran Squad

Troop 2: Vanilla Veteran Squad

Total: 190 Points

Model Wise

HQ: Lord Commissar/Primus Psyker/Commissar Yarrik (1 Model)

Troop 1: Veteran Squad with Heavy Weapon Team (9 Models)

Troop 2: Veteran Squad with Heavy Weapon Team (9 Models)

Total: 19 Models

Mek and two units of 10 grots plus runt herder is 115, Ork's have it cheaper. Draigo's got minimum models, I don't Think any army can match that.

the OP and thread are about the smallest army you can have with either points cost or model count and thats what was going on.

I think it was because of copies of the armies.

Anyways, so what's the smallest Model Count for a 'nilla SM army? Or any of the variants?

smallest for all marine armies except for GKs will be 11. thats an HQ and 2 5 man squads of either scouts or marines.

GKs can hit 3(Draigo and 2 Paladins)

No matter what? Don't Death Company Dreadnoughts count as Troops somehow, though? I'm not talking scoring troops, or else the Mek/Dred list wouldn't qualify.

Definitely Draigo and 2x5 Paladins.

Dunno... I think a basic Warboss and 60 Boyz w/ 2 Nobz would be pretty tough to beat- at least against equivalent points costs.

I find it confusing how people after this post are still posting suggestions that cost more points.

Well, if they can think of smallest for their armies, that's still smallest. I think the DE may have it for points, and GK have it for models.

Though I haven't gotten that answer about Tervigons yet...
