So, as always I'm unable to make a decision by myself, and here's the two metal models I'm hesitating to choose between:

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440207a&prodId=prod1130405

and

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440207a&prodId=prod1090238

So my army is a basic zerker 1000 pts with chosen and obliterators. I must upgrade my lord with two lightning claws from the bitz. I kinda like the first one, but he cost more and the second one is cheaper, and fit more the theme.

I like the second, it's more dynamic and would probably fir the theme better

Although now I look at it, something feels odd about his pose...

I detest space marines without helmets, particularly chaos ones, so I say the first.

I say the second one, looks more Khorny (no pun intended).

Seen the first one a million times. Second choice would be more theme appropriate, plus that axe looks badass.

They both have helmets

2nd one is nicer model.

The first one would have a better pose when modeled with lightning claws.

Missed the lightning claws bit. In that case, the first one.

Guess I'm in denial then... I can't imagine that as a helmet...

true, the first one would seems better with lightning claws.... The one thing about the Khorne lord that is weird is that he's standing right like if he was trying to show his big axe to someone, kinda like: Hey you there! Haven't you see this big axe???? Come Closer so I can chop your head of!

Skull-shaped helmet? Yeah, there's no precedent for that sort of thing in 40k after all...

It's not my fault! The angle the photo is taken in makes it not look like a skull to me, but like a bleached face...

They're both pretty horrible to me. Maybe just kitbash one from spare plastic marines and maybe a little greenstuff instead? (Cheaper too)

But if you must choose one of the two you listed, I'd go with the second one. I have the first one and I'm not much of a fan.

I bought the second one (the Khorne Lord) a while ago to serve as a Skull Champion. It's an alright model but the axe on mine was bent slightly and the detail from the mold isn't terribly well done. Overall I'd give it a C+. Obviously yours might be of better quality, but thought I'd just let you know my experience with it!

About the pose, though, as you can see, when you look at it straight on, his arm is covering most of his face. It's a decent enough model but I would agree with Wyrmalla, try kitbashing one if you can. If not, I'd suggest going with the first model.

The first model is the older of the two, pretty comman but also pretty clasicc. Considering the number of chaos players these days seems dramatically lower lately to me, its a solid choice.
I like some things about the second one and detest others. The pose is a bit awkward with his toes pointed out awkwardly. the parts are well sculpted BUT the haft of his weapon looks like he is a little kid who stole daddy's battle axe. If you bought the second one, take its arms off and use something more interesting.

Id have to agree with the build your own.

i myself find myself in the same situation.

While I do like the 1st one better it just doesnt do it fully for me.

The 2nd one looks naff....

Plus both are currently metal which I hate.

Build ur own and save the cash

LOL! I already have this one, but it was just for the collection because Terminators lords cannot fit in rhinos and are extra pricey. Maybe I will use him if the Regular Terminators gain the Fearless rule in their next codex, but even then... But if they get it with some new extra weapon options, then it would be totally awesome!

I would like to build one by my own, but since I'm new to w40k, I may lack the skill. I think I'm gonna take the second one, but alter the direction his head looks, and give him the lightning claws. Any idea I should pose them? I thought the left one in the air and the second one back down, like that the left one will not come in the way of the leg.
For the color scheme, I thought Chaos Black (main), Blood Red (details) and Bleached White (skull mask). What do you think of it?

yeah I thought about this beast, but still, he's in termi armor. I can't take the risk to move him around the battlefield and then come along a squad of 5 meltagun-wielding dudes.

I don't like any of the 40k Chaos Lords, I'm ordering this one from the Warhammer Fantasy line.

You know that those are both metal models and not the easiest to re-pose or convert right? You should go with the plastic chaos terminator lord. It has some sweet options for Lightning Claws.

Tbh im kinda liking the look of this guy for my lord:

Seems the way to go is the fantasy line.

Do the still sell the chaos lord raptor. Not only is it power armor it already has lightning claws. Just have to repose it a little without the jump pack. The squad leader from the raptors squad could work too. I think I remember him having LCs
