http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/september-11-attacks/8755834/911-anniversary-Muslim-protesters-burn-US-flag-outside-embassy-in-London.html

So, we majestic British, we lion of the old world, we empire building, , tea drinking hardcore napoleon/hitler busting mutha-lovers can use riot gear armed police and cavalry charges on students protesting the loss of their grant...

But this filth are given the right to protest LEGALLY?!? They get another group moved on BY THE POLICE? How we have fallen into tepid and mediocre and spineless appeasement. How disgusting.

9/11 anniversary: Muslim protesters burn US flag outside embassy in London
A group of Muslim protesters set fire to an American flag outside the US embassy in London during a minute's silence to mark the moment that the first hijacked airliner hit the World Trade Center 10 years ago.
A number of radical Islamic groups including Muslims Against Crusades (MAC) gathered outside the embassy on the 10th anniversary of the attacks.
The group of around 100 men shouted "USA terrorists", brandished anti-American placards and chanted through a loudhailer.
Several members of the Muslim groups made anti-American speeches following the flag burning.
One said: "You will always face suffering, you will always face humiliation, unless you withdraw your troops from Muslim lands."
Another declared that America had been "defeated in Iraq and defeated in Afghanistan".
Members of the group publicly burned a poppy on Armistice Day in a similar stunt.

However, a small opposing group of Muslims - some of whom had travelled hundreds of miles to rebut the extremists - staged a counter-demonstration nearby, holding up placards reading "Muslims Against Extremism" and "If You Want Sharia, Move To Saudi".
Abdul Sallam, 41, who was waving a sign that read "Keep The Silence", travelled down to London from his home in Glasgow to show the strength of his feelings.
He said: "I'm a Muslim. What they're doing is bringing shame on all Muslims. This is not part of the teachings of Islam.
"Islam teaches you that when you see anything bad or evil, you should speak out against it.
"If the moderate Muslims all came out and spoke out, that would defeat them.
"I am proud to be British. I love my country. All these people are doing is breaking Britain apart."

One of the Grosvenor Square memorial service attendees, who did not want to be named, said the protesters should be stopped from standing just across the road from the embassy and using a loud megaphone.
The man, whose cousin died in the terror attacks, said: "They shouldn't be allowed to do it. It's very disrespectful. It's too loud."
He added: "They can say what they want but not with the loudspeaker."
Earlier a group of right-wing English Defence League protesters, who had gathered in response to the demonstration, were ordered to move on to accommodate the MAC supporters.
The 60-strong group of EDL supporters briefly scuffled with police as they were forced away from their original location to a different part of Grosvenor Square.

I want them rounded up and shot. In fact, give me a plane ticket and immunity from prosecution and I'll send them to their fun-packed afterlife myself.

Idiots always have the loudest voice, but not the strongest message.

I'm more impressed by the group who traveled hundreds of miles just to stage a counter-demonstration to rebut the extremists.

Seriously, caps off to the anti-extremists. They are the ones that make me believe that Islam is not completely evil, but it is a shame that they are also the ones that we hear of the least

That's horrible. I'm sorry, but that shouldn't be accepted by the population. I'm sure if more people learned of this, a mob would have been formed, and gak would go down.

As do I. I'm just a bit angered that not enough people showed up.

Thats true, a friend of the family is Muslim, and her and all her family/friends are very kind down to earth types. Seeing extremists on TV protesting just makes me feel bad for the vast majority that dont believe in that, because it just makes them as a whole look bad.

He never burned it, actually. The Fire Department showed up and informed him that if he tried to burn anything, the fire would be immediately put out, and all the books would be confiscated.

Why would we hear about them?

They're not doing something that will get ratings or sell newspapers.
Cynicism aside, I also have to give respect to the London Metropolitan Police.

It takes real class to stand up and defend someone who's talking out of their bile spewing, despicable and ugly face.

It takes even more to do it on an emotionally charged anniversary of a tragedy.

It boggles my mind that these people have the nerve to basically go up to these people who are trying to pay their respect for those that have died and slap them in the face...disgusting...

Hats off to the anti extremist group, they're the real heroes in this gak, they are the example that people should use to look at most Muslims instead of the extremists...

A hearty "Feth off" to the soulless gaks who burned the flag and interrupted the silence...

So, why haven't they? That massive majority of 'moderate' muslims have been woefully quiet.

Most importantly, where is the overwhelming condemnation of this sort of hateful practice by the muslim community's religious leaders? Where were the group of Imams and Mullahs standing opposite these arseholes with 'you are wrong' and 'you do not speak for the rest of us' on their placards? There are 3 million muslims in the UK, why aren't these hate pedallers being drowned out by a sea of rejecting voices?

The majority remaining silent leads to the belief that whether or not they oppose the actions of these groups, they hold them dearer than the outsider or infidel.

Not even remotely the same thing. The 'students protesting the loss of their grant' (which isn't actually what's happening, but hey-ho...) smashed up buildings in the centre of our capital city. They deserved everything they got and more.

Incidentally, I find it surprising that people are praising the EDL in this incident.

Who knows why they do not speak out?

Maybe they think that speaking out would do nothing to change the overall situation.
I personally know of some folks who would consider any kind of opposing action taken by the 'moderate' Muslims to be a ruse to lull us infidels into a sense of security.

Maybe they think the best way to show that Islam is not accepting of these vitriolic, hatespewing imbeciles is to simply not acknowledge them. Don't oppose them, don't support them--ignore them.

Maybe they think that the best way to prove that Islam is not extremism is to simply ensure that they put their best foot forward and show people they encounter everyday the kindness they themselves would hope to receive from others.

I went to visit a mosque in dubai, Islam is a religion that has a great many good things in it, but the extremists are not only disrespectful, they are heretics, Killing innocents is against the Qur'an, it is technically blasphemy, the terrorists are damning themselves by their own faith.

Those fethers who burned the flag should face reprisals.

Why? Perhaps because Muslims aren’t some homogenous borg like entity but rather normal people like the rest of us, and like the rest of us couldn’t care less about about these nutters. There under no more obligation than you or I to speak out against them.

All kinds of fringe groups from every political and religious spectrum hold protest and make a nuisance of them self’s all over the UK every day, I just had some christian nutters drive past my house shouting through megaphones telling the world were all wretched sinners. They may be tools but let them as long as they dont break the law.

I would go in to a lengthy rant about the evil messages within all Abrahamic texts but I can't be bothered right now.
Also, suicide is something that will send you to hell in Islam. So even if these extremist fethers are right, they're still going to burn.

There are 230 million Christians in the USA, but I don't see them all speaking up against Fred Phelps. For the vast majority it's simply no concern of theirs.

It's not so much that it's "no concern of theirs"--it's that even if you did speak up against Phelps, who's going to care?

The media outlets aren't interested in hearing about some schmuck out there who thinks Phelps is a jerkface.

And Slarg--Phelps may not be piloting planes into buildings, but he's no different than any of the radical imams encouraging extremism.

Its called freedom of speech, I agree with their right to air their views.

The only caveat being that I should be allowed to go out with a placard saying "Muhammed was an illiterate goat fething nonce"

If I am granted the same freedom of speech as they are, then I'm all for it. But the double standards we have does annoy me somewhat, Muslims can get away with being far more aggressive verbally than I can.

Hey-ho. If it gets lefty types like you seeing things my way, then I'm all for Muslims doing gak like this.

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

I'd have gone with "The Crusades Were A Draw" for the fun of it.

Double standards will always exist. It's not just Muslims that can get away with being far more aggressive verbally like this, at least if we talk about the Western world in general.

Look at Fred Phelps for example. He and the WBC get away with all kinds of crap that if any kind of private group(without "church" or a religion in its name) pulled it they'd be on charges.
