Okay, it's taken me a bit to find them in all the right shapes and sizes, but I've finally collected all the MLP's (and other minions of cuteness) I need to field a Hordes Uniherd army, I'm all set to love and tolerate the c**p out of my opponents except for one little detail....

Bases...

Obviously the figures I'm using don't come with properly sized bases, and so I'm going to have to buy some, the artistic question before me is, would my army be 20% cooler if I...

a) make a nod to reality and just do a standard sand,paint and flock treatment?
b) keep the all my elements in harmony and make cartoon grass and flowers from foam sheet?
c) delay putting the army to use for even longer and find properly epic aftermarket bases so that -something- will be table ready painted?

and then... I get to start pondering which GW kits do I use to make a model of Discord, who obviously is an Dameon Prince of Tzeench...

If you want to go the realistic route, I'd consider trying to still add in some flowers or something else nice and cheerful-a craftstore would probably have something in scale, although it might be annoying to stick on with everything else.

Please tell me you're going to post photos of this; I'd love to see them.

Made a few changes, got a 3g Sweetie Belle for Rainbow...now looking for little charm braclet fairies for the Sparkle Sprites, and decided on a base scheme...

You know, as soon as I saw the pic I was thinking the bases should be on the brutal side. I think verdant, flowering fields strewn with dessicated corpses is perfect - cuteness and death juxtaposed, just like fielding MLPs as an army of death.

Oh, and I also request (nay, demand!) pics as the project progresses.

I find it worrying that I have become so well accustomed to the idiosyncratic urges of the creative wargamer that I read the thread and looked at the pictures without even batting an eyelid. Help, perhaps, is needed.

I swear as soon as you laid that army on the table i'd forfeit, sell all my gw gear and live in a cave communing with whip scorpions and slugs for the rest of my life...

Second wave is coming soon, a unit of Hearlds of the Apocolypse, made with G3 ponyville Scootaloos, PinkiePies and RainbowDashes, since there's no variety to the 50mm bases I'm using a stock base, skulled up with the base bitz from Alexia and Wraith Witch Denny...

I love it, I love it all XD though I have a question:

what/which ponies would you recomend to someone looking to build a thunder pony army that would count as canis wolfborn, 3 units of 5 TWC and 2 packs of 10 ferizian wolves? I'd be converting them to have power armour to fit in more with 40k, would marine parts fit or is plasticard the only option?

I'd have to doublecheck scale, but basically, the same ones that I used, G3 ponyville for the TWC (got mine at Christmas Tree Shops, for 4.99 for a 4 pack). And the "blind bag" G4 Friendship is Magic pony toys...(19.99 at TOys R Us, for 12' with the Mane 6 and another 6 pallet swap ponies). The regular toys are big enough to probaly qualify for a tank and Celestia, would prolly scale nicely for a LR...
