Subject: What kind of exercise do you get on a regular basis? The fitness topic!
I've liked running/walking for quite a while and a recent contest at work involving a pedometer has reignited that fire. Today I did around 9 miles which is honestly kind of wimpy for me, but usually get around 30 miles a week of physical locomotion for purely leisurely purposes. I've tried "working out" but it just bores me to tears if I'm standing or sitting in one place so I'm a little hopeless on that front. What about you Dakka?

Pull-ups. I challenged my older brother when I was drunk to a pull up contest. I was a 12 pack deep by this time. The rules were perfect form, dead hang pull ups (chin over bar, no swinging and arms must be fully extended) He did 6. I did 20.

I have a pull up bar I got at Walmart a few years back for about 10 bucks, and I keep it hanging above the door to my room.
Every time I go in or out I do 5 pull ups. It's literally seconds a day, and unless you have a REALLY short attention span it shouldn't bore you at all.
I've got ADD and I find that it actually helps because it feeds that part of my brain that wants to do something new every 10 seconds. If you have trouble with 5 pull ups, just start at one, or however many you feel comfortable with. If you can do one every time you go through that door for a week, you'll build your strength really quickly.

There are some who walk until their legs fail them and they fall to the ground. I find that respectable.
Then there are those who drag themselves further. I find that admirable.

My dad made me do all sorts of stuff...I still walk my dog and jog regularly around my block, not a whole lot of extensive stuff. My favorite exercise by far is swimming, I've been doing that since I was a toddler. Recently though my dad wanted me to start lifting weights been doing that for the past five years off and on. Took weight training classes in high school, by the time I graduated I was pressing around two hundred pounds maybe a little more at max.
@ Asherian Command...hats off to the people that can do that parkour stuff, I probably wont ever have the body for it but I've seen people in public who do that kind of stuff and I gotta say they are pretty hardcore...
EDIT: I haven't actually tried to do a pull up since we had those presidential fitness exams back in elementary school...great...now I gotta go find something to do a pull up from...

Thanks mate. I was out of shape before i got into it. It took me a year to get into shape anyone can do it. except if you exceed 190lbs and you are wrestler from Strike force or something you should be fine, unless you Are Spider. But thats spider he's spider... Dear god that man is a badass.
But anyway its fun and the exercises are hard at first like the piston squats, which are basically holding in one place on one leg for 10 seconds then on the other leg switch constantly every 10 seconds, its hard and it hurts like helk if you do it wrong.
Regarding the pull ups thing that is exactly how i got my arm strength except i increased it by 1 every day.
15 was my last weeks, hopefully i can get up to 17.

For all the runners here, if you really want to run in the healthiest, safest and most efficient way possible, ditch your shoes. Your feet have evolved into the perfect mechanism for running over thousands of years, and shoes just get in the way of the foot's natural mechanics. I had the flattest arches in the world, and running barefoot cured them. I can't stress the benefits of running barefoot enough.

I chase my dog (tackle football like) for about half an hour. I do karate for maybe 2 hours to three. but for no one reason no one wants to go for a seventh match...

What if they are the same thing?
No they are not. I don't feel pleasure when i get home from a run. I am a devout of slaanesh that i enjoy my physical pain! PAIN! PAIN! PAIN! PAIN! Nah just kidding i do get pleasure from working out, (And not in that way!) i enjoy it but only because it gets the attention of the ladies.

I lift weights and walk/jog a mile and a half four days a week. On my days off I walk around the neighborhood. I normally play airsoft twice a month, but I currently only have one working airsoft gun and no cash to play :/
EDIT: I also do core/oblique work outs twice a week...desk-jobs are terrible on physical fitness

Football every day for about an hour. That's soccer for all you Americans out there.
I also do push ups, sit ups, planking and lift weights every two days. And I go rowing for about an hour every Thursday.

I've started the physical preparation recommended on the Navy SEAL homepage for the BUD/S test five weeks ago. I'm following the instructions in this little book here...
..to the letter until today, with only 2 days lost because of a vicious cold until now. I like it because of all the different types of excercises you get. For those who don't want to bother themselves with the link:
Monday
- Long Slow Distance running (I'm just at 4.5 miles at the moment)
- Upper body weight excercises (varying)
- Core excercises (Bridge, Plank, Sideplank, Bird Dog, Superman and Wipers)
Tuesday
- Continuous High Interval swimming (15-20mins of 80-90% of your max power...later phases of the program include multiple repetitions)
- Lower body weight excercises (varying)
- Pushups, Situps, Pullups (at the moment I'm at 6x12, 5x18 and 5x5 respectively)
Wednesday
- Interval running (400m/quarter mile sprints, 6 at the moment with short breaks)
- Core
- Push-sit-pull
Yesterday, I made the mistake of adding 90 mins of Krav Maga to the mix. Another 50-60 pushups during warmup already...and sparring, while friggin' nice to do after a long time, sprained my right thumb pretty badly. Felt like crap all day today because I couldn't properly keep up with regeneration and nutrition. Have to see if I can add two 90min Krav Maga lessons to the aforementioned program. It's getting a bit time-intensive.

I'm afraid I've had to delete a few posts that were, literally, a bit too far below the belt.
If we can keep it clean please people.
And the thread/posts too.

That movie was "incredible". In all seriousness, I don't really work out and I maintain a stable weight (I'm kinda thin) although I do like outdoor activities (though I'm rather nonathletic) but I would
consider that recreational pleasure not exercise.
