Umm wow. I'm going through the armies in my head and I think that maybe tau and only tau have a shot at winning against this list. DE don't have enough DL (I struggle with 2 or 3), IG either you stay back or focus on the lascannon HWteams. Eldar, target the prisms. Normal marines/chaos have no shot as they can't get enough heavy weapons. Tau with 9 broadsides and target locks, and suits the fusions may be the only threat. That's alot of money for 6 land raiders though.

Didn't Nettik make a 7 LR list at 2500 points at some point?

i saw this type of list run at ard boyz round 2. its kinda rock paper sciccors so if hes got the paper to your rock.....your screwed.

on a side note....that guy did a pittsburgh steelers paint scheme and painted big bens number on the side of a crusader. it raped a friend of mine.

I don't have a codex in front of me but I don't recall crusaders ever being able to take LRC's as dedicated transports.

I have the codex right in front! "A crusader squad that numbers 15 models or less may take a Land Raider Crusader as a Dedicated Transport."

I wonder if I could find the points to take blessed hull, and just screw over Lances in general!

It could work, but here's my experience. I tried to run this at Ard Boyz(2 LrCs and 3 Godhammers) and did absolutely terrible. Game 1 vs SW, I lost 3 Landraiders to Lascannons on turn 1. He wasn't heavy LC either maybe 5, most rediculous luck I've ever seen. To be honest I would have lost the game anyway, I was against a well-seasoned hardcore competitive player and I just started this year. The second game I went against Tau and the game was fairly even, obviously one of the better armies to fight rocks. I dropped out for round 3 due to food poisoning.

Sounds like you had...too few land raiders!

I have played around with running a LR spam list as well! I play BA so I was going to run 3 LR (2 LRC and a LRR) with 2 SR.

Have not played it, as I dont really want to dump that much money into it before I know if it is a viable list!

As a black Templar player, I think the list could be very fun to play but not so sure it's competitive. But I might just try it down here just because.

I would bring this to tournaments to watch their faces as I put out six land raiders.

I probably wouldn't go for this as a viable long term list. It's a fun gimmick and may catch people by surprise, but it's probably unlikely to be the next cookie cutter setup

If I drop one land raider and it's squad, I can max out the remaining three squads to 10 men each with a power fist, melta gun, and give the Emperor's Champion AAC.

My tau list would initiate turbo-HUGS on your army.

two or three years ago a guy tried this kind of list at ard boys with chaos had 6 raiders. even then there was too much melta for him to do anything, and theres more melta now! i see this catching a few unprepared people off guard, but overall not doing so hot. my 2k list has somehting like 16 meltas that would bring the hurt, and drop out squishy guys for me to eat. but at say a lfgs, it could be the out of nowhere surprise that upsets the balance! i like the five LR with useful guys in it though. that way even once they pop your LR at least your dudes can do something.

Any army with melta will rape this, as you have no way to stop them from driving up to your Raiders and meltaing them, and no way to retaliate when they do beyond charging out with you Crusaders ang getting them killed.

Deldar will kill you with Lances.

Marines will kill you with melta.

Tau will kill you with Broadsides.

IG will kill you with melta and Manticores.

Eldar fire Dragons kill you.

Orks will kill you with Deffrollas.

Only armies I see really struggling against this are Nids, Crons and GK. Of those, Crons can still glance you to stop you doing anything relevant, and GK still kil you with mass Psycannons/str10 hammers.


Drop one Raider, take a squad of THSS so you actually have something scary to jump out and kill people.

Swiitch your land raiders out for Dreadnauts with Missle launchers, lascannons, and tank hunter. That shoudl give you 3 of those with some points left to fix up your actual units.

I can see the temptation to add as many land raiders as possible and think "hey, 2-3 is awesome, why not 6?!".

With that being said though, the reason 2-3 LRs can be intimidating to an opponent is that he's still got a crapload of other stuff to deal with, mainly the things inside of them. If they contain next to nothing, the whole fear factor is gone and once your opponent deals with your threatening LRs there's nothing to back it up. Sure, it could work against some enemies, but against most it will be next to useless. Worst case scenario = your enemy pops your 6 LRs with his 7 Razorbacks first turn and you're left with next to nothing to get the job done. If you instead went with like 3 filled with TH/SS or LC termies or something similiar and he pops two of them, he still has to face angry termies on a rampage towards him.

I don't see where all the hate is coming from? Meltas and deffrollas, Seriously? Keep back and use the lascannons. As for the DE it takes 13 Darklight shots to destroy a single armor 12 vehicle (which is what these will be to them). 13! Your assault cannons and Lascannons should do enough to prevent that.

Like I said tau will like this list and thats about it. Manticores could do something but then again with an average of 2 shots a 75% chance of at least glancing (66 for a pen) then a 1/3 to destroy it. Not good odds when multiplied by 6! Even then focus on what can hurt your land raiders (S 9 and 10 then 8).

You don't let them get close enough to use the meltas effectively (seriously you can't stop them from getting 12" for a multimelta?)

Try it for yourself and ignore the haters.

...I think people are missing the point. This isn't going to be a hyper competetive list, this is just going to be something fun to put on the table and watch people go. "Buh"

Razors with what? A lascannon that needs a 5 to even glance? Where as he needs what a 2?

This is my take on Black Templar Land Raider spam. It shoudl be competitive and ill play test it later today and see how it goes. But like i said you need more power, and what is scarier than 6 landraiders? 4 Land Raiders with 3 dreadnauts hitting at S9&10 with their ranged weapons.

Give them all blessed hull to troll the DE players!

Yea, sit back and torrent them with your.... 4 las canons.... Seriously is this your argument over melta fire because it sucks... My IG lest has 17 melta guns and thats not counting anything outside of my troops and comand squads... Like my 3 vendettas and 3 hellhounds... Yea that is something this list gets crushed to...

And to the OP, if this isn't a serious list then don't post it in a feedback forum unless your willing to take the feedback... I personally would not be shocked to see this army considering it has been done better in the old demon hunter codex. Even then it was lack luster.

My suggestion would be to take 2 Land Raider crusaders with 5 guys - Blessed Hull(GO LANCE weapons... oh wait...)
And then 3 more normal with 5 guys each, giving you the ranged shooting you want.

As far as the melta conserns... sure I would worry about it if I was playing Salamanders with the gay re-roll to hit with them... but that just means I have to focus my 3 LR's lascannons at the speeders on the table. Rhinos with troops are going to take 2 turns at least to get in any threat range of me. And if I am lucky, a smoke launcher save will drop the change a drop pod dread or troops destroy me. And you ahve the weapons and even the assault to kill a 5-10man space marine squad with ACC.

Lance weapons??? um 2 of tanks virtually ignore it... and the other 3 are killing your AV10/12 guys that have lance.

Nids only seem to do well with a slowed amount of gene stealers.. um they cant touch this...
The other option is montorous creatures... they all fail to AP2 twin-linked lascannons and multi-meltas on the LRC's

Orks... eh a green tide would be annoying as crap.... and they only need to get the power claw in your face. Bikes just do that a LOT faster.
As far as dethwhatevers.... um ork tanks front ark is crap, and that means my LR's are on the flanks to hit side armor of 12 on round 2 when you move toward me.

Yes yes I am sure that this list isnt like OMG OMG powerful but played well, this list could be a heck of a lot of fun. And in honor of you Sekai, I am going to play it as I have posted on the next RTT that I can attend at my local store. I will PM you with the results.

There is a large difference between feedback and being annoying.

If you can't see the difference between the two styles of posts being put up here, then it's honestly a sad day.

If I may request, Jim, could you post up some mini battle reports for me at that RTT? I am honestly curious to see how it would go!

I'm probably going to do the Emperor's Champion with AAC, 3 10 man crusade squads with power fist/melta in LRCs, and then 2 normal LRs, Thank goodness some people on this forum know how to have fun! Although I am sorta liking the dreadnought spam + LR spam. That could potentially be awesome, but UNREALPwnage, isn't there a restriction against how many venerable dreads you can take, thus a restriction on how many tank hunting dreads you can bring to the table?

or a squad of tank bustas
only real benefit is you can be locked in combat allowing you to just walk everyone around the first with the one they are trying to kill while shooting it with the others

I love how everyone feels the need to post up the weaknesses of this list, as if they weren't pretty obvious to begin with!
