Could Blood Angels do this list better? Their Assault Squads can take more special weapons, and when they remove jump packs, the get -35 to the purchase of a Land Raider. I think in the end a 10 man unit with 2 meltaguns and a Power Fist costs about the same as a 10 man unit with 1 melta gun and a power fist.

The idea would be that the libby sits in a landraider and gives cover to the preds with his shield. The preds would kill anything at long range. It would be a laugh.

Personally I think landraider spam would be quite effective against most opponents. The blood angels variety would even have potential cover saves from the libby and anti horde from Redeemers. Lovely

Bloody hell so many Raiders! I reckon if you can afford that many raiders then go for it. Not sure if many people will be very keen to play against you though on a casual play because they'll get mashed.

Btw give them all blessed hulls to mess up the Eldars day. I despise those lance weapons, and eldar, they make my soul feel like it wants to vomit.

Hahaha. Doom, can we somehow work in two librarian dreadnoughts instead of those predators? That is the only thing that would make that list more perfect for me.

This was more to illustrate that something really bad COULD happen, and yes, a lascannon CAN pop a land raider in 1 shot even if the math says its not LIKELY. Theres a difference. Imo the list will be hard to play because once the LRs are dealt with, there's nothing threatening left in the list. So, i'd appreciate it if you didnt jump on my example, because it was only to illustrate one of a particular "what-if" scenarios. With that being said though- OP: It's your list, play it however you want as long as you have fun. You know its not the most competetive setup but its still your army and your playing experience, no matter what we say

Tjolle79: There's also a chance that first turn I destroy everything on the board with my lascannons. I ran a MSU Black Templar list with around 18 lascannons. Failed to do ANYTHING to my opponents single land raider.

At that point I decided that making competitive lists makes me a sad panda, and that I should just make lists that I can have fun playing.

Of course it can go either way, and that isn't really what im trying to say.

All i'm trying to say is this: With next to no threatening or hard-hitting units actually inside the LRs its gonna get really hard for you once the opponent deals with them.

As i also said: Its your list, and of course you should have fun with it!

That's why I've been discussing the changes I was going to impliment! Drop a land raider and increase the model count inside the land raiders to 10 guys with a melta gun and a powerfist!

You already said this was about making a list with 6 or possibly even more land raiders.

Why put 10 guys in it? To be more competitive?

For what you state is for a 'fun and non-competitive' list?

You state that this is a fun list and not a competitive list and berate people that tell you the list isn't all that competitive because it's about 'fun' and seeing your opponents reaction.

Then you turn around and want to take a step back from what your concept is, which is as much land raider spam as possible because you want to be more 'competitive'.

Make up your mind.

OHNOES! I want to make my list a little more effective! God Forbid! Please, pretty please stop posting in my thread? If I didn't want feedback on how to improve it and make it more playable, I wouldn't have posted it, but things like: "This list will Turbo-Rape your army" pretty much isn't useful.

Okay folks, let's get this back on topic and polite.

There's no need to be rude or confrontational over people's army lists. It rarely leads to good results, and it's always a violation of the rules you all agreed to when you signed up for accounts here. Those are always available in a link at the bottom right corner of any forum page, if you want to review.

It's also a silly thing to make an Argument from Authority based on post count or how long you've been a registered member. While those things may indicate someone with some experience, at heart your opinions or arguments should stand on their own, and trying to use your post count as a substitute is just going to make you look bad.

All that said, it does underscore the importance of being clear in one's initial post. If you post an extreme/unbalanced army list, and ask if it can be competitive, people can be expected to come in and make easy/lazy posts giving your the cheap shot you've invited. Try to put some more content or disclaimers or context in the original post if you don't want to make it a troll magnet.

Since I feel it's necessary, I would like to apologize to anyone I've been rude to in the post, it was uncalled for.

I posted this list to the 40k Army List section knowing that the army would have some weaknesses, as most armies do nowadays. I was hoping for some improvements on how to keep the basic concept on having lots of land raiders, while still making it an effective list to play. I don't care if it'll win the tournament circuit, or be competetive in that way at all, but I would still like an effective fighting force incase I do want to bring it to a tournament.

On the original topic, this can of list can be a fun change of pace. I ran a 1500pt 3-LR Space Wolf army to win my ticket to Vegas, and I ran 4-LR Blood Angels in the Adepticon Gladiator this year. My team at the Adepticon team tourney this year was also running lists which gave us 3-4 LRs in each pairing.

That being said the list has a propensity to Rock/Paper/Scissors matchups, which in my book are inherently less enjoyable than more balanced games, in general. As an example, if you do run up against a Tau army with multiple Broadside teams, or IG with multiple Manticores, or tons of transports full of meltavets, you are usually in deep trouble, and the battle will be an uphill slog. OTOH, when you run up against an opponent who just didn't bring enough melta or S10 (most Deathwing lists, or Eldar, for two examples I beat in the gladiator), your opponent similarly has an uphill climb from the start.

What was your blood angels land raider list, Mr Moderator Person? I've wanted to try one for a while now.

I use to run a similar list with my Death Guard back in 4th Ed. 2 Daemon Princes/2 Dreadnoughts/3 LR + 3 squads of PM and of course Nurglings before newest Chaos Dex.

My Ork list would be able to handle it

Thats at 2,000 points. Deffrolla's are d6 STR 10 hits /w all the PK's thrown in the mix.

I think the list would be fun but not only maximizing LRs but also effectiveness, not to cheese but to "fun", at least make them squads of 7-8. I think if you could do that, it could be competative.

man with six tanks that size i can see problems with maneuverability, but also i can see not really needing to maneuver do to total tank ownage.

It was a funny point size; 2200. I don't seem to have a copy of the list handy; I made it last minute the night before while drunk after the Team Tournament, having decided that Combat Patrol was going to be too small a game to be satisfying on Sunday, and I was switching to Gladiator.

It was roughly:
Mephiston
5 assault terms w/4 hammers, 1 LC, in Redeemer w/MM, ExA
5 assault terms w/4 hammers, 1 LC, in Redeemer w/MM, ExA
2x Priest w/power weapon
6 Assault Marines w/Melta, Fist, in LR w/MM
6 Assault Marines w/Melta, PW, in LR w/MM
5 Scouts w/Camo, Snipers, ML

Something like that. Might have only been one priest & 5 man AM squads, and squeezing in a Librarian as well with Shield & Unleash Rage.

Game 1 I played against GT-winner Shaun Kemp, of Da Boyz, who was running a Chaos Warhound Titan, a couple of the Chaos flyers, some DS-ing termicide, and a bunch of small squads of CSMs in Rhinos. I knew I should have Reserved with him going first, but foolishly started on the table. Turn one the Warhound blew up both Redeemers and had one of its Str D templates scatter onto Mephiston, who was completely hidden behind a building around 6" away from the tank the template scattered off of. So he died too. Lost that game, unsurprisingly.

Game 2 was against Deathwing, and he had just one Ravenwing squadron & attack bike with melta. No chainfists in his squads, so I stayed away from the sides of the table, since the meltas were outflanking, then assaulted them when they came on. After that my LRs were largely indestructible, and drove around through his army. Big win for me.

Game 3 was Eldar, and was the most interesting of the 3. He had a balanced, regular army with only one squad of Fire Dragons, IIRC, which made it tough for him, but he played smart with the objectives. Had a nice tactical game and came out a Major victory for me.

Sounds like a great list!
