For all those who have entered, payment date is 10th February latest. Thanks.

Ok guys all the details have been sorted. Here's a copy of the details below from this blog post: http://www.imperiusdominatus.com/2011/11/throne-of-blades-tournament-pack-now.html .The tournament pack can be downloaded from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?338vissb2svpw91

I am organising my own tournament for 3rd March 2012. I've never run a 40k tournament before, though I have plenty experience organising things, as I used to own a car club which had over 2,000 members!

The tournament pack can be found here for all those who are interested.

The games are 2,000 points and there will be 3 over the course of the day. There are cash prizes for first place, second place and third place. There is also cash prizes for best painted army and favourite player along with a raffle, which will be drawn several times during the course of the day.

Tickets are £15 each, you can contact me for payment details.

Please edit the title of the thread (by editing your first post) to include the city (and adding the country doesn't hurt either) your tournament is being held in.

Thanks.

just out of curiousity what happens to the extra £200 (obviously some has to go to the hall ) but at £15 i feel the prizes are not only small but if you did a deal or two you could also get better prizes for your money other then just giving out cash

just my thoughts ofcourse i'll be there either way

Hey man, I am interested in this......my MSc will be finished and I would love to get some gaming in.

Can you PM / Post the exact date and details. Also I would really love to play a Forgeworld list.....is this going to be possible? - If not I will just run CSM. If you could PM that would be great - I don't read many threads these days lol.

Let me know.

Regards,

Adam

I'd be up for this one, only done a couple of tournaments so if you could provide a bit more info then that would be great.
Special characters?
Normal missions?

Cheers

Be sure too Nath, it's not far from you, plus you stand a good chance of at least winning best paint army as I've seen your skills

I'll be donating it to the club. I'll see what else I can rustle up. Remember that tournament we went to in Walsall was £10 entry and £20 winnings.

Adam,

Afriad there won't be any Forge World allowed at the tournament. I'll PM you details.

I'm keen on attending if there's spare places though the precise date and the starting time will likely determine whether I can or not. I notice it's 1750 now, it was 2000 before. There's no danger of a further point drop, I hope, I like 1750-2500 best.

Follow these two simple rules to ensure a happy Dakka experience:

Rule 1 - to be a proper 40K player you must cry whenever a new edition of the game is released, and always call opposing armies broken when you don't win.

Rule 2 - Games Workshop are always wrong and have been heading for bankrupcy within 5 years since the early 90s.

Is this the same weekend as Battlefield Birmingham? Aren't you a bit close geographically for tourneys on the same weekend? I feel that both of you may suffer from running at the same time. No idea how my calendar looks yet for February, but would be interested as one dayers suit me better nowadays.

No places have been taken as of yet. I am currently finalising details and will get a tournament pack released with everything 100% confirmed after 20th November.

Will be no further points drop. Reason for this is at the club I play now (Powerfist) we have got a 1,750 tournament two weeks. If I keep it at 1,750 then at least people from the previous tournament can enter withou adjusting anything. Personally I play 2k points, but I am not playing so I'll be leaving it at 1,750. Defintly won't be changing the points mate

NB - your top link is broken as you've included the full stop at the end.

Also, I'm having considerable difficulty with scribd which my anti-virus seems to regard as akin to a high-grade bio-hazard of a site... Any chance of uploading to mediafire instead?

I've managed to read the tournament pack on Scribd but it seemed to freeze up when I tried to download (which might as I say be to do with my my overactive virus checker). I'm very keen to come. Only one thing rather disturbed me -- the final remark that the KP value of forces brought will be added to the final scores.

So you're encouraging MSU mech-spam.

I really like the fact that you've chosen one of each mission type because that, in my view, balances things nicely. But adding KPs to score means you might as well build a list to bring as many KPs as possible, ie the annihilation mission is undermined.

I admit that I could be accused of bias here as I will be fielding a small KP force. But given the conventional wisdom says I will therefore have no chance in objective based games, I should be at a disadvantage anyway...

I assume it means KP earned in the game ie the number of units you killed. However, it is 10 points for a loss and 5 points for a draw so you never know!!!

Ok guys to clear a few things up.

kill points you earn in the final game will be added to your final score. so if i earn 10 kill points in the final game it will be added to my score lets say 50 which will give me a total of 60 points in the final rankings. if anything kill points in the final mission goes against msu.

About points for loss and draw. this was done to encourage a win instead of a draw. i want clear winners and losers, not draws.

I hope this clears things up guys.

Thanks.

Btw i will upload it to mediafire or something on Monday

Ah, that as you say does rather push against MSU spam.

With more points for a loss than a draw, in objective games I can see people moving off objectives to avoid a draw, which seems a trifle artificial, but I do understand your desire to encourage playing to win. But would that not be as easily served by saying same points for a loss or a draw (ie a draw counts as a loss) and would avoid the slightly bizarre moving off an objective in order to secure a loss...

I'll definitely be up for this though. Thanks for organising it.

I could change the points. I'll give it some thought.

Struggling on the win-draw-lose thing. If I'm behind after say T2 it is better for me to then not play for a draw as I know I can't win and just hand my opponent all the objectives ... My best games have often been in trying to carve a draw from a really bad mid-game position, especially as a Nid player. If I get drawn against DE, there's no point playing the mission at all.

**UPDATE*

Ok guys I have uploaded the tournament pack to Mediafire (link below) so you should be able to download it without problems.

After the success of another tournament ran recently at the same venue, the gaming club which will be hosting the tournament I am running have voted for 2k games, this vote won over 1,750 by a land side. Sorry to change points, again.

I have also changed the points awarded for loss and draw and also noted that kill points should be recorded for games 1-2, though this is only incase of any draws in the final.
